So I own a PS3 and it seems like it is getting shunned by the world of gaming. Everywhere I go there is always a Microsoft fan boy telling me how much the PS3 sucks. Don't get me wrong, I've met some PS3 fan boys and the are not any better, but why is the PS3 the scum of the universe? Maybe it is just demographics, or maybe I just don't know enough people. AND, why the f-sauce didn't they release an expansion for Fallout 3 on the PS3??????? Not cool. >.<
Because it is far too expensive, huge and lumberous and why have one when you can settle for a cheaper, more versatile console?

XBOX 360 FTW.
That reeks of fanboyism.

Anyway, the reason no Fallout 3 DLC was released on the PS3 is because Microsoft payed a HUGE sum to Bethseda to keep it exclusive to Xbox Live. Because Microsoft are selfish.

Oh, and welcome to The Escapist.
FanGIRLism, and thank you (Y) And I used to be obsessed with my PS2, to the point of no return but the PS3 just broke my heart.
A lovely female gamer?(Regardless of fangirlism) WHAT!? WHEN?! -implodes-
:O
Shame the PS3 broke your heart, lass. Perhaps I could interest you in some chocolate in the back of my van?:D
Anyway, how did the dark box of Sony break your heart?

I don't hate it, but I'm fine with a Ps2.
In my opinion, it's just not worth the money if you already have a Ps2, and of course a PC.

i love my PS3, the sleek black beast stands proudly in my room and i wouldnt have it any other way. my friend has a 360, i play it all the time and have no inherent problem with it (my eyes tend to hurt more after playing it but that could just be me) but i'm happy with my choice

some games designers put off the ps3 versions because it takes more effort to work with the system where as the Xbox has specs and tech more akin to a PC.

the reason for no DLC for fallout is because of exclusive licensing, it's unfortunate that i miss out but unlike others i'm not going to bag out Microsoft for it, its a smart business (and avertising) tactic. i mean Sony did the same thing for the ps2, for a long time titles like Final Fantasy, GTA and MGS were playstation exclusive and it earned them a boost in sales. the only thing i think playstation could do better is have trophies contribute to your PSN store wallet (or even just credits for 'Home') but then Microsoft fanboys would probably call them copycats

Oh shit! I'm late to the party!

I personally love my PS3, just as much as I love my xBox, and my DS, and my PC. 2009 has got a nice set of games for my PS3 so I am delivering it a little extra love this year.

On a bit of a tangent. I hate this whole console war, it's a division of our great hobby that is just a bold faced justification of your $300-$500 purchase. If you have fun with your console, you should never need to justify your purchase, and shouldn't need to belittle someone else's. We need to stop hating each other's consoles, and start hating the people trying to rip down our great lifestyle. That's where your effort should be aimed.

It costs to much, it weighs to much, the controller is unpleasant to use and it takes to long to install everything.

If only you were a woman...

Anyway, that is true my friend. I guess this is the reason why most of the people I've met over here where I live don't take gaming seriously. Since we have a false civil war between children over which plastic entertainment box is best. Damn imbeciles, 'dey took 'der enertainmant!! (Yes, it is spelled wrong, I did it on purpose. ;D)

Personally, I'm neutral in this conflict. The 360 and PS3 both have their flaws and advantages over each other. The PS3 technically has more power than a 360, but as a consequence it is more expensive and larger in size. The 360 is not as powerful and tends to break at times (Red rings...{I know the Elite is 'immune' to the rings, but it still gets them, just not as often}), but boasts more DLC and games. In my opinion the 360 will stay in the same spot it is in now, until they fix the red rings issue, while the PS3 isn't going to get many more mainstream games for a while. Either way the systems are both good, and are only going to get better later.

Now when you make that purchase, I'll assume you purchased the arcade/core version which is $199, cheap eh? So, now you must purchase the HDD or the Xbox 360 60GB LIVE Starter Pack, which runs to about $100 (I rounded.)
There's really no "must" involved, there. You can use the internal memory (512MB) for your saves if you don't care about online play or demos.

You also forget that the MSRP for the 40 gig PS3 is actually $299 and that you can get cheaper 360 Pros and Arcades just like you can get PS3s for cheaper than the MSRP. In fact, getting a 360 Arcade for $150 is very possible.

Then you haven't tried the party system and seen how much easier it makes... well, just about everything related to creating and joining games. Join a party, make a game, invite everyone in said party to the game with one button press. You can also set up that the only thing you hear are the guys in your party if you're worried about trash talkers. Not to mention the whole system is a coherent, seamless system compared to PSN's mishmash of apps.

In my personal opinion a large number of people hate the ps3 for one of two reasons(all based upon people I have met in real life, not on the internet):

1) The online play.

2) They believe it is cool to do.

For example: "PS3 DOESN'T HAVE GAMES LOLOL!", this is a common assertion made by those who insult the ps3 without knowing much about the system or its games lineup.

disclaimer: this does not mean that I believe there are no other reasons to hate the ps3, this just seems to be the general feeling towards it.

ps. while I do have a ps3 there is one thing I hate. I cannot play music while playing online matches. I understand that there is in game music, but I also understand that there is a music section to the XMB that I would like to use while I am doing what I bought the system to do, play games. I don't know if the 360 can do this, I've never bothered to try.

My b. :( And I've only found 199+ XB360 Arcades. No longer trusting Amazon. >_>

I've done the party system, before I sold the 360. I wasn't too fond of the new update, I did like the new installation thing they added for games, except Halo 3. It did improve my Gears of War 2 experience a bit. :D But, aside from that I didn't use the party system too often, since I(like Ben)am mostly a solo player type gamer and being in groups for gaming I'm not too big on. Aside from the party system, what else is there? Cutting down all the extra crap on both systems online service, they both feel the same. Minus the communities.

One username that is standard and required in ALL 360 games, integrated console/online experience where you are recognized as one username, a headset that is standard, integrated matchmaking with every game and cross-game invites.

These might not mean anything to someone who doesn't do a lot of online gaming (actually, you admitted as much) but it makes XBL service that much less painless than the PSN or WFC.

Eh?
Anyway.
I agree with the standard headset. A good blu(e)tooth is very annoying to get. Purchased a MadCatz BT, it blows. :(

But, yes I am not much of an online player, minus SFIV, Killzone 2 and Team Fortress 2. :)
I see what you mean though, PSN can be a pain in the ass at times, well the PS3 can be too. But it's minor issues for me that can be cured by doing something another way. Same for XB360, except mine died mine times. :(

Well, as the term "art" is entirely subjective you can't claim that as fact.

I think the hardware in the PS3 is superior but because Microsoft are greedy bastards they can get exclusivity for top games and DLC so I prefer to have the 360 for what I consider to be a better selection of games with more expansions. I also like to play online and I prefer the XBL service over PSN although it does cost me £40 a year.

YES PLEASE STRANGER. And the PS2 had the best variety of games for all the consoles, and all were reasonably priced and the PS3 pissed on all of that.
