Because there aren't manyvery

I think the hardware in the PS3 is superior but because Microsoft are greedy bastards they can get exclusivity for top games and DLC so I prefer to have the 360 for what I consider to be a better selection of games with more expansions. I also like to play online and I prefer the XBL service over PSN although it does cost me £40 a year.
The hardware is superior to the 360, although part of the reason that Microsoft can get the exclusive games is because programming for PS3 is much more difficult. I personally don't really hate the PS3, except for the fact that it uses the same f***ing controller since the PSone, just updated with new gizmos and gadgets on it. Except for the 360's d-pad and lack of pressure sensitivity, the 360 controller is far better than the PS3's

expensive not too many games, expensive games they never sell the good ones anymore (60 and 80 gb sure there is the 100 but its not any better tan the 40) the 360 has more games just as bad backwards compatibility, but i love my ps3 more than my 360 or wii, but maybe its just because they need something to argue about

I don't, I own one. The problems I have with it are lack of backwards compatibility and its price, but other than that its a very good games system and one I'm quite happy to own.

People "hate" the PS3 because they don't think it's economical or would take one if they got it for free, but can't afford one.

I'd buy one if I wanted to play any games out on it that I can't get for the XBox. But I don't really care one way or another. I think some people take their feelings about the console to the extreme because they're immature. Why would you want to actually put that much emotion into hating something that you would take and probably use if it was free.

So I own a PS3 and it seems like it is getting shunned by the world of gaming. Everywhere I go there is always a Microsoft fan boy telling me how much the PS3 sucks. Don't get me wrong, I've met some PS3 fan boys and the are not any better, but why is the PS3 the scum of the universe? Maybe it is just demographics, or maybe I just don't know enough people. AND, why the f-sauce didn't they release an expansion for Fallout 3 on the PS3??????? Not cool. >.<
Because it is far too expensive, huge and lumberous and why have one when you can settle for a cheaper, more versatile console?

XBOX 360 FTW.
That reeks of fanboyism.

Anyway, the reason no Fallout 3 DLC was released on the PS3 is because Microsoft payed a HUGE sum to Bethseda to keep it exclusive to Xbox Live. Because Microsoft are selfish.

Oh, and welcome to The Escapist.
FanGIRLism, and thank you (Y) And I used to be obsessed with my PS2, to the point of no return but the PS3 just broke my heart.
A lovely female gamer?(Regardless of fangirlism) WHAT!? WHEN?! -implodes-
:O
Shame the PS3 broke your heart, lass. Perhaps I could interest you in some chocolate in the back of my van?:D
Anyway, how did the dark box of Sony break your heart?
YES PLEASE STRANGER. And the PS2 had the best variety of games for all the consoles, and all were reasonably priced and the PS3 pissed on all of that.
By trying to expand the capabilities of games to an actual evolutionary step and still be reasonably priced?
$600 was not "reasonably" priced

And needing 5 (or is it 6 now?) iterations of hardware post-launch and shafting the backwards compatibility does not constitute an evolutionary step so much as an evolutionary drunken stumble.

That's how I feel minus the lack of BC issue (Managed to get my lucky hands on one). Seriously people it's a video game console. If you don't like it that's fine, but to actually hate it? Then you have some serious issues my friends.

I have both machines, but I do like my PS3 more because it has so much extra functionality. It can double as a PC with yellow dog and all its exclusives have been top notch imo. I also like that it uses standard leads and things and not the Microsoft exclusive ones.

I never liked Microsoft since they say their games are exclusive and then just port them to PC a few months down the track. Plus my 360 just feels so cheap from the noisiest dvd tray ive ever heard, the controller batteries totally dieing when they arnt used for a few weeks and the largest transformer known to mankind and a super bright yellow led which can double as a night light.

I do like the PS3 controller but the 360 is just so much more comfortable. Because of this I tend to get the 360 port of the game for comfort.

But everyones hate is pointed in the wrong direction imo. Should point it towards the lazy developers rather than Sony.

I dislike MS as well since they made achievements and DLC popular. I kind of dislike both.

I really have nothing against the PS3. I play a 360, and me and my friends are all casual gamers who have them. I just loathe PS3 fanboys.

I don't think any actually hates the PS3.
Maybe they like their PC or Xbox better, but I sincerely doubt many people over the age of 12 harbor a substantial hatred against a peace of hardware
(unless of course that hardware is made by MacIntosh)

Ok so i read halfway thru page one, and I can full on see why people dislike the ps3, but also why it has potential to blow the 360 out of the water, I worked in a video game store called play'n'trade for just under a year, I earned and spent 4-5grand in that store then bought a ps3 and a bunch of other games for another grand (btw im 16 and middle class so no, Im not a rich bastard) and now own a 360,ps3, good computer, psp, hdtv, three sd tvs, and see use for all of them, and surprisingly Im not a hardcore gamer, sure a good game comes out, il play it til im bored of it but online i mostly only play with friends both ps3 and 360 of course im yet to actualy go online on my ps3 but my friend has for resistance 2 and it looked fun, killzone 2 has good mp, and my gold subscription just ran out on my 360 so the free mp on ps3 comes in handy when im bored, that and i have great single player games for it. So even a 16 year old with no steady income (anymore) can find use for both and like them equally for the games i have for each one, and the ps3 lets me watch bluray which is a bonus to me.

Giant. Black. Paperweight.

Which is also a Bluray player.

But seriously I don't hate it, I just think it's funny when everyone yells about people hating their fav console. You could easily find multiple threads asking the same questions about the other consoles

People don't like it coz it's to expensive for them. It's slightly better than the rest but they don't want to pay the extra so they settle for a 360. The hatred comes from the thought that maybe they should have got the best not the rest. I love my PS3 and wouldn't trade it for the world.
