Why does everyone on the Escapist love metal so much?

I like metal, rock, punk, any mixture of those, some electronic, some rap (like Eminem), and some pop and pop-rock. So yeah, pretty much anything.
As to why I like metal, I can answer it pretty simply:

I love a pretty fair number of musical genres, like metal, punk, rock, classical and some electronic, amongst others, but I enjoy metal the most.
Why? Because it has energy, it has awesome guitar riffs, powerful vocals, (generally) cool lyrics, some epic drumming and because it's what I play on guitar.

I like more genres of music, metal is far from my favourite, I'm more of an indie and alternative man myself. So no, not everyone does.
I guess it's popular here too because there is millions of new random metal bands out there now. Then in my other ear I hear people loving all the pop stuff on MTV but not so much on the net, mostly metal on the net and pop stuff at school.
So I guess it's what ever is new thats most popular to talk about, makes sence since most of the classic bands don't make new music but classic music will always be the most interesting and is all I want to talking about.
