Well I have to admit I love metal, but I just posted in a thread about alternative a few days ago.EZmacilx said:What happened to Alternative?

Beyond that, I listen to the Moody Blues (Progressive Rock)
I love the way you think.DarkLordofDevon said:Lets put it this way.
Metal = Awesome
Escapist = Awesome
Hence:
Escapist = Metal

...Does nobody in the gaming community care about anything other than sub-par lyrics masked by the Open E and power cords of metal?
Why not?Yadoso said:Eh. Metal is too generic and boring for me. Most of it is just SLAM SLAM SLAM. I like the guttural vocals in death and the screams in black, but heavy metal vocalists suck. I'm more into Screamo and post-hardcore if I want intense music. But most of my library is split between indie, hipster, punk, and rocky stuff; Animal Collective, Neutral Milk Hotel, Minus The Bear, Bomb The Music Industry!, My Bloody Valentine, pg. 99, Saetia, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, Bright Eyes, and Modest Mouse are some of my favorites.
The Beatles are my absolute favorite, though.
There's a link to my last.fm account on my profile. You can add me on there, if you like.
And, for the record: Foo Fighters aren't metal. Led Zeppelin aren't metal (arguably proto-metal, if you like, but I don't think so). Aerosmith isn't metal. Don't call hard rock and grunge metal.
He's right though.miracleofsound said:Why not?Yadoso said:Eh. Metal is too generic and boring for me. Most of it is just SLAM SLAM SLAM. People can call thier favorite music whatever they like. All of those bands have elements of what can be considered metal. (i.e. loud guitars, screaming, in your face attitude)
Posing in Bob Dylan style black and white photo with a cigarette hanging trendily out your mouth and listing off a bunch of obscure underground indie bands you're 'into' does not make you an authoritive voice on music.
Fuck do I really have to do this again? Damn repeat threads.EZmacilx said:Now, right off the bat let me tell you, I'm not trying to bash metal here. The only music threads I've seen here are all "what metal bands do you like" and they're all the same handful of bands. What happened to people liking varied types of music? What happened to Classic rock? What happened to Alternative? What happened to Punk rock? Does nobody in the gaming community care about anything other than sub-par lyrics masked by the Open E and power cords of metal?
nope metalcore is the only sub-genre i consider to have actually enough worthwhile bands and doesn't sound like all the others to actually separate it from other genres for a moment. the fact that i said i listen to metalcore doesn't mean anything. the only types of metal i listen to are scremo and metalcore. yeah im a metal head but im not stupid it is not what i always listen to.BolognaBaloney said:Oh geez, don't tell me your one of those people who divides metal into metal, death metal, metalcore, hair metal, speed metal, grind metal, grindcore, bread metal, breadcore, candy metal, penguin metal, and other useless sub-genres...Dax317 said:i listen mostly to metalcore.
