Okay, I know a lot of people are going to hate me for saying this, but I think the Uncharted series is overrated. Nathan Drake is a copy/pasted generic and flawed character which makes it so I don't care about him at all.
The same goes for his girlfriend. I don't see why they don't expand on the really cool characters like......everyone else. Sully is cool and Chloe is a very strong female character. How can Drake turn HER down??!! That English guy from the third game is really interesting too, but they drop him off the face of the earth halfway in. Next the story is meh.
It always involves some ancient treaure that inevitably has some kind of ancient evil behind it that the villains try to take. It also usually goes batshit bonokers like when you have to fight evil mutants and some shit. Next is the gameplay. I don't understand why people say it's perfect hollywood action. It's NOT! They make the horrible mistake of spoiling everything in the trailers so it's no suprise when the next major explosion happens.
Also, the third game has this really fucking irrelevant ship part that had NO connection to the story at all! Also, the game makes the same mistake that almost every action game makes. Set pieces really come to life when you have bad-ass music blazing in the background. A perfect example of this is that boat part from Half Life 2.
Also, quick-time events are just overrated pieces of shit. They aren't really engaging. Now one of my BIGGEST problems with the Uncharted series is how frustrating it is. There was 2 parts I can think of in Uncharted 1 that was so stupid and frustrating like that whole drive a boat up A FUCKING RIVER and wait every two seconds to see if there's an enemy that has an RPG that kills you in one hit.
Or the part where they send out FUCKING god-like Navy-Seal like guys with top of the line weaponry. Or parts of that ship section in Uncharted 3, the list goes on and on. Also, like a lot of people have said, the aiming can fell off at times. On that note, why the hell does it take SO MANY BULLETS to kill one enemy? Especially when that enemy has a sniper rifle that can one-shot you if you stand still for longer than it takes to get out of cover( Which Nathan seems to be stuck to).
So can someone please explain to me why the Uncharted series is apparantly the Jesus Christ of videogames? I would greatly appreciate that.
EDIT: Okay, I don't care about the whole Indiana Jones thing. If that mattered, then we'd still call FPSs Doom clones. Also, I'm not trolling. These are just my reasons for thinking the game is overhyped.
One more thing: Not once... not a single fucking time did I say that the Uncharted series is bad. I found it fun and I enjoyed my time with it. So Shut.The.Fuck.Up. I like the game. I just think it's overrated.
