I mean this in a relatively serious way. I like good films, I even like shit films. I don't like Shia LaBeouf. Not personally, I have no idea if the drink driver is a good/bad/nice person - I just don't see why he keeps getting cast in leading man/action roles.

Seriously, up against someone with charisma you get the impression he just disappears on screen.

Not a big fan of Wall Street as is - but mostly because of the way frat boys think its how their life will be.
Because everything is a sequel or a remake. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094291/
And nothing destroys the past better than replacing talent with a pretty face.

I don'ty like him so mc in "Leading Man" rolls but the first transformers and disturbia had him more as the awkward nerd than the charismatic leading man. I flat-out refused to watch the second transformers flick so maybe they tried to turn him tougher or prettier bu that's one flick cut the kid some slack.

Also, MacDonaldFin, can i stay in the anti-twilight fan fort with you. i'm scared out here.

I don't know. I thought his performance in the movies I've seen him in was fairly decent. I don't really know enough about how the film industry works, so again as I said in another thread, I'm not going to make an ass of my self by talking about something I know nothing about. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say because there was no one else available who was suitable for those roles, or he has a very good agent.

Let us not forget Indiana Jone IV. Although to be honest, everyone involved with that bomb should be ashamed.

Re: fort. I'll stay outside. Not too worried, twihards only scary in the way crazy people, not dangerous (yet).

Oh goody, a crappy-looking sequel to a 23 year-old, pretty good but overrated movie.

As far as Shia... eh... he's one of many in a long list of befuddling "it boy" leading men.
In no particular order, here's a sample

Robert Pattinson
Leonardo DiCaprio
River Phoenix (that's right... I said it. One good movie and a premature death do not a good actor make)
Orlando Bloom
Ashton Kutcher
Steve Guttenburg
Jonathan Taylor Thomas

They're handsome in a generic, non-threatening way, and they're annoying enough to make guys think they really would run like a girl, but not annoying enough (at first) to make guys want to stay away.

Why this guy seems to be taken seriously by good directors (and no, I don't mean Michael Bay) should be obvious from where he got his start.

FOR HE HAS CHOWED UPON THE GIBBLETS OF THE GREAT MOUSE GOD!! BOW YOUR HEAD!!!

Why not the public likes him and he can genuinely act according to some here.

Also brace yourself, I enjoyed both transformers movies. That is all. *Walks out*

Shia LaBouf, if we assume he has any talent, suffers from what I call "The curse of being discovered by Disney."
Anyone who gets discovered by Disney gets typecast to death. It just always happens, but that's only half of the curse. Not only do they get cursed with being badly typecasted, but because they were involved with Disney, they are cursed to forever have a career playing that same shitty part.
Unless you're discovered as a young girl, then the curse ends as you graduate from high school and you never work in Hollywood again.

Exactly, before Transformers he was in many good films. Such as I Robot, Constantine, Disturbia (Eagle eye was kinda lame) and the new Indiana Jones. (Come on people it wasn't as horrible as you think) The dude started out with Disney films and managed to escape the companys grasp. (He is one of the only young actors in history to do so)

My reaction to your movie examples:

"Meh, all right, nah, arg!!"

(Huddles in corner) "Make the bad man go away! What are you doing to Indy? Why?!" (Sucks thumb)

I don't know. Bruce Willis and Clint Eastwood can only really play funny tough guys / grumpy badasses between them. I'd certainly rather watch one of their films (well, some of in Bruce's case).
I've only one example where this isn't the case: Sixth Sense

Remove Shia from I Robot and Constantine and ... shock ... the film is exactly the same. Yes, Indy 4 was that bad. Re-watch, trust me, not his fault.

Disturbia was at best a poor copy of a better film, hmmm James Stewart & Grace Kelly or Shia & Sarah Roemer(who?).

I've seen Transformers 1 & 2, Constantine, I Robot, Indy IV and most of Disturbia. Anyone got a youtube link of him acting well. I've seen no evidence so far. Of course the people saying he's a good actor seem also to be liking the Transformers films - so, er, yeah. Bay has done at least one good film (The Rock) and I quite liked Bad Boys I and II, but those two CGI blur fest were boring.

(PS I mean comparatively, I can't act, but I don't try to).

wtf? why do we need another Wall Street? why do we need another karate kid? do we really need an A-Team movie?

OT: i think shia does a decent job. i was worried when i heard he was cast for Transformers but after watching i didnt mind him. Now, Jayden smith (will smith's kid) i CANT STAND HIM! his definition of acting is whining and whining some more.
