I have a problem with Scientology because of their beliefs. I do not have a problem because it is made up.

I would also like to point out exhibit A and B as to show that not all made up religions are bad.
I HIGHLY consider reading these after you get over the first initial laugh. Enjoy :)

Ah, Pastafarianism. The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster was a not-surprisingly good read.

4) Ask anyone around here, I consider ALL religions to be fallacious.
Intriguing. I probably know your argument for Western religions, but what of the East? I'm not one to call any one religion wrong or right, but I want to hear your rhetoric on Buddhism, Taoism, and Shinto, just out of interest.
Fine fine, Taoism I respect because it claims that claiming to know all the answers means you don't know anything, which is awesome. Buddhism is too... unhappy for me, I don't think it holds much truth. Shinto is very... regional and very old fashioned in its style yet its incorporating and accepting nature makes me like it more than some western religions.

Well scientology seems like a bunch of bs, but then again so does every other religion,
And that is part of the danger.

Yes people have the right to see religion as BS if they want, I don't understand it but its their right. However failing to recognize the dangers in Scientology or associating it with the often over generalized or over exaggerated evils of 'other religions' (Which is bull in and of itself, but not going to get into that) just allows the leaders of The CoS to further push rules that are directly harmful to their followers and others.

Ignoring the real danger of the CoS, at least as it is now, because you have an overall problem with religion is a dangerous practice.
Well when a scientology church opens in my community, I will do something about it, probably protest, no drugs allowed? fuck off i need my anti anxiety meds because thinking about how the universe started drives me nuts, was their nothing before? but how can something come from nothing? AHHHH

On the internet, you can thank the /b/tards and anything else that calls itself Anonymous.

But it's true. Scientology kills. And they steal. They have their tax-exempt status because Scientology staged the largest infiltration of any government agency in history in order to gain that status. Let's add to that there are countless deaths related to Scientology.

Here, this is Anonymous' main page about Scientology:
http://www.whyweprotest.net/en/

It's got some solid links, most notably:
http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/

EDIT: I normally wouldn't support a group like Anonymous, simply because they've done some pretty nasty things... but when it comes to Scientology, I'm behind them 100%.

It seems to have been done to death this topic but I am hoping to possibly give it a new spin after a conversation today with my dad sparked by the death of John Travoltas young un.

Now one of the main thrusts of the arguement against scientology is that it's created by a fiction writer, this is rather valid as a criticism however most of the Torah, bible etc are fictionalised, none of it is literal truth but a series of instructional tales.

That scientology is a secretive organisation, so was christianity in the Roman era which was about the same period in its evolution as scientology is at this moment, when you have a new faith you are rather nervous of having it tested until you have everything set in stone. Doctorine takes hundreds of years to form not 50!

They take peoples money which makes them evil of course no religion has ever taken advantage of it's believers except for the crusades, tithing, the fact that pope lives in a palace whilst the poorest adherents of Roman catholacism live in shanty towns and how often have you placed money on the collection plate in church?

It may be wacky and to some incidious and evil to others but why are there imaginary friends singled out for ridicule versus everyone elses? Speaking as a Discordian I much prefer disorganised religion!
The universe doesnt hate Scientology. Its just the Milkyway Galaxy that hates XENU for his MASS GENOCIDE.

1. most people think it was invented to sell stuff. there is some truth to this: when battlefield earth was released (the godawful book, not the godawful movie) scientologists were told to buy as many copies as they could afford. some people went to stores, bought as many as they could carry, and apparently took them right back to the shipping center, because some stores would get books with price stickers already on them.

2. its not been around very long. a lot of people can remember times from before scientology was even a word.

3. it was created by a scifi writer, it thinks that psychology is fake, and it thinks that souls were created by a volcano. seriously.

4. they can be pretty mean to their critics. ever heard of paulette cooper? she wrote a book called "the scandal of scientology" which was exactly what it sounds like. the scientologists responded by starting "operation freakout" which was an attempt to put her in either prison or a mental institution. it didnt work because it got exposed by the fbi.

all this info comes from wikipedia, but i think that the wiki is pretty reliable, so thats my story and im sticking with it.

I have a problem with this statement(I also have a problem with the quote function).
This is a very opinionated statement because, while we know the creator of scientology to be a fiction writer, we do not know for sure about the creation of the Torah, Bible, Qu'ran ect. To assume they were fiction writers is both ignorant and not provable.
So some guy fed an hungry mob with four loaves and four fishes, turned water into wine, survived in a desert for forty days and forty nights without water. Some one was turned into a pillar of salt, a castle was destroyed by the use of jazz sorry obscure reference. To say that this is an accurate not fictional account of events in history is quite odd to say the least.

My wife certainly has had nothing to do with my ribs and nothing bad has happened when she ate an apple, Also I have never at any point seen anyone turn water into wine, perhaps the other way round in shop doorways on a Saturday night.

I use christianity as my example not because i have any particualar with it just that I know the bible better that any other religious book. I didnt go to an Islamic sunday school after all.
