I'm sorry, but shouldn't the guys at Valve decide whatever they want to do with their games?
They shouldn't have to listen to whiny, spoilt brats like yourselves. If you want to play their games, buy a the platform it was fucking made for. Yes, I am what you call a "PC elitist" but at least I can spell correctly, something I daresay you cannot do.

Furthermore, we barely complain when we get a game badly ported from a console. Yes, I'm looking at you, Assassin's Creed. But that's okay because we know it's a port, and is not going to be the prime concern for its developers. However, you console fanboy twats complain about Valve not updating their games on your platform nearly every other fucking day. I saw a thread just like this yesterday! Whatever happened to the search bar, people?

But I digress. The point is that if you want to play a game to the best of its potential, buy the platform it was made for. If you want to complain that your console doesn't have these updates, suck it up. Hell, we do it all the time.
Yep, that is absolutely right. As soon as a user asks for some bug fixes never mind actually getting updates it is all about how whiny console users are. Furthermore I can spell, though I have been known to miss the occasional error like everyone else, it isn't like all console players are pants on head retarded, just like I am sure not all PC users are irritating Trolls.

I play TF2 on the 360. There, I said it. I would play it on the PC but I've decided not to because of two reasons:

a) I shouldn't buy the same game twice for a better performance

b) I don't want to download all of those gigabytes worth of updates. Here in Australia that is a lot of crab to wade through and if the downloads stuff up, I have to download it again.

It's my choice not to play with the extra content and I don't mind going without it. However one thing that pisses me off, like really pisses me off, is that Valve hasn't even tried to fix the glitches in it's maps. You can still get under Gravelpit and set up sentries making capture point A impossible to cap, you can still get up in the sky in Dustbowl and you can still walk in the sky and in every map hacks run rampant. Valve have done nothing to stop this while to my knowledge the glitches no longer exist on the PC version and there are measures in place to stop the hacks. Valve doesn't give a shit about the console fans. There is no excuse for not fixing the glitches on it's games. Every developer can release a small fix to alter the maps in some way, except for Valve. There might be some technical reason, but I doubt it. Valve just plain doesn't give a shit about the console versions of it's games.

Because of this they are pretty poor developers. Sure, they might make good games, but they treated two thirds of their fanbase like crap because of pure laziness. Seriously, how many multiplatform devs don't fix the glitches on each version of the game? Imagine if IW didn't fix the experience glitch on the PS3 or patch the PC version while tweaking the 360 game to perfection? People would be pissed and the legion of PC fanboys will rip IW apart.

This thread seems to have touched a nerve in this community, which is not surprising in the slightest.

Well, yeah. Didn't you see the massive boycott for Left 4 Dead 2? It was made because Valve were (apparently) ditching L4D to make a game a little earlier than they usually do. People were outraged, claiming that they wasted money on the original Left 4 Dead because they thought Valve were going to stop working on the immensely popular game that they had previously released (conveniently forgetting all of the effort they've put into Team Fortress 2).

Also, when I said that console fanboys couldn't spell, I wasn't referring to you. Check out the other console owners who couldn't spell to save their lives:

It's not so much scorch 13's spelling, it's his intention that I couldn't understand.

Ah, PC nerds just as dickish as I remember them. Point is OP, Valve thinks their shit don't stink. Wanna prove them wrong? Stop buying their shit. Even if your little protest doesn't work, you can take pride in knowing your not Gabe Fattyboy's little *****.
I think I died a little when I read that.

I reckon its because as others have mentioned, the PC is an open platform, Valve has their own compulsory means of getting updates to all users with the orange box- because the steam app is needed to play the game. Whereas Xbox live is a closed platform very tightly enforced, oh and I don't think there are many Xbox orange box ownners left soI suppose they thought there was little point updating now anyway, either its simply up to them balancing their own manpower with generosity.

And you're totally wrong. The updates are never WoW-Huge. Also it downloads through steam which means if you downloaded 80% and gotta go, you can turn it off, turn it back on and it will still be at 80%. You don't have to download all the crap again.

They may not be as large as the downloads in WoW (which stopped me from getting into that game actually) but they are bigger enough for me not to bother. If I didn't already have the Orange Box for the 360 then I wouldn't care about the downloads. I really don't care if it downloads through steam, knowing my luck I will have to download them again and I've only ever heard bad things about steam. These may not be justified but I really don't care.

I see^^ If you want to defend your 360, go on and whiteknight it.

Ah but I'm not defending my 360, I'm defending my hatred for large downloads. I hate the large downloads for the 360 as much as I do for the PC. The game demos are often reaching two gigs and the original xbox games are around 8 if memory serves me correctly. I've heard that you can download 360 games now (I haven't played my 360 in months so I'm a bit fuzzy on the details) straight to your hard drive, fuck that would be annoying if that was the only way I could get a game I really wanted. I've noticed that for the past 2 years (!!!) you can only download the HD versions of a video which are around 200 megs rather than the SD videos that are around 15 meg. I suppose Microsoft figured that it would be easier for them to just put on the HD version that giving us a choice. The thing is though, I play my 360 on a SD TV so there is no pay off for me in downloading the few hundred extra megabytes. The thing is though, I don't have to download these things to play, while on TF2 I do so these things are not so much of a big deal.

I have a strange feeling that you feel like I'm a 360 fanboy. Rather a poor come back, don't you think? I mean I've been playing my Gameboy Colour, Advance and the PC for like the past three months with my 360, Wii, Xbox and N64 just collecting dust. Even then, I've said nothing of how I feel about the 360 until now. I mean maybe if I said what is the best platform (which so many have) you would be justified in thinking that, but I haven't said anything about my views on any consoles. I hate how people fall back on using fanboy as an insult. It shows an extreme lack of care for the discussion and shows that you're here to insult others, nothing more. Poor form. To be fair you haven't said fanboy but is a definite vibe I'm getting and most of the posts in this thread, no on the forum, no on the Internet, fall back to fanboy. Poor form.

Not to be a dick.

But fuck you and your unwarranted self importance. You want to get a TF2 update? Support Valve properly by buying their games on Steam. Oh what's that? You and your immense piles of games want to play one game by a developer with a team so small you can more than likely count them on your incredibly fat fingers and toes? BOO. FUCKING. HOO.

You remind me of the people who buy hot coffee, and cry when they spill it all over themselves when they're driving. The world doesn't revolve around you and your stupidity. Get over yourself.
I know you're new here but it must be said there is no need for an abusive post like that.

He is entitled to his opinion and if you want to disagree with him try to do it in a respectful and civilised way, because flaming like that will just get you banned, it's not how we roll here.

Oh fanboys.

Valve has always been a PC based developer, The Orange Box was probably just a cash in (an awesome cash in mind you) that exposed them to a different market. They could go back and update but with the recent flak they are getting for L4D2 they don't want to charge money on the consoles for an update that was free on the PC, but Microsoft or Sony would surly make them generate some cash flow for using their services.
You sir, just earned a trinket from the trinket basket. :D

Here's a better question: Why do most game companies treat PC owners like second class citizens?
