Well in all fairness i've tried drugs once or twice and well i'm over that phase, but as a teenager it is my destiny to get piss faced on a weekend and throw up in people's back garden! So yeah...

I just don't see the point in it. Granted, I do drink from time to time. But, as for the other drugs, I don't see the appeal in using them.

I like being in control of myself. When drunk, I wasn't fully in control, and it's not a feeling I enjoy. I've only been drunk twice, and likely won't do it again.

As for other drugs, I'm ok in my current state and don't need a substance to change it.

I'm against it because I don't wanna wake up one morning and realize my IQ has just decreased by a number directly proportional to the amount of beers/pot/lines I've had. Im only 19 so I'd like my brain to keep working for the next 55 years, thank you very much.

Why do I not take drugs?

Well mostly because Im not stupid enough to smoke, inject etc. some piece of shit into my body and turn my brains to mush!

There is a REASON why drugs are illegal people!

I've seen the effects of alcohol and would just rather stay away from that. That's not to say I'll turn down a drink or two with my friends.

Cigarettes + my addictive personality won't end up well.

Weed - well everyone needs a vice and it makes my weekends a lot more fun :). I'm pretty responsible about it though.

Protection of corporate profits? Historical racism? Ignorance?

My wife really never found one she enjoyed and was embarassed for how other people act (like idiots) while high.
I went through the downward spiral bit and then met my wife who pulled me out of it a week after we met. I've heard that other people can "just do drugs without becoming addicts" but I have an addictive personality. Now I'm just addicted to her. D'awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Why don't I?

Too expensive, and I'm far too lazy to find someone who deals drugs.

Not like I want to, it's just another thing to do.

You really need to define "drugs" better or maybe just limit it to illegal drugs. I mean, I drink soda with caffeine which is a form of a drug. I also take a laxative because of chronic constipation. Sometimes, I'll even eat food containing proteins which will keep me from starving to death. It releases dopamine in my brain letting me know that it is good and I should keep doing it. The same thing happens when I exercise.

I don't drink or do any illegal drugs because I wouldn't be able to properly engage in the prime directive. What is the prime directive you ask? Playing enough video games and watching enough movies and surfing the internet enough to distract myself from the fact that I don't really have a lot going on. You see, we all do drugs in one form or another.

Anyone who claims to have never touched a drug in their life must have never drunk anything with even a hint of caffeine/alcohol or been ill enough to need paracetamol etc.

Hell, if you had Calpol as a child, you were a drug user.

When phrased like that, I find it rather entertaining.

As the OP said, these things just don't have the stigma of other drugs.
From the OP, I get the impression that the OP is talking about recreational drug use rather than medical drug use. I don't think taking tablets to make sure I don't look like something off a horror movie is the same as sticking needles in my veins for some high...

I see some drugs as a necessity, to keep healthy and stuff. I think some people tend to overuse things like Paracetemol though, especially for when its a really minor headache or something.

In some ways, I'm more understanding of people who are highly addicted to drugs than those who do it recreationally. As a person who has been around addiction, I can see just how hard it is to get out of it, so I guess it makes sense if you keep taking it. I don't know, I just feel as if you see taking some chemical as "having a good time", you're pretty damn boring.

Is it possible not to do drugs? I mean nicotine, caffeine and alcohol is very common. Then comes the weed, my personal favorite. Pretty much everyone does caffeine and nicotine... and alcohol. I don't do the heavy drugs and I try to stay away from medication.

I don't get why people wouldn't smoke some weed now and then. It's not dangerous and it makes everything better. It's well worth a weekend now and then.

It's mostly because of the fact that if you buy drugs you support criminals.
The "criminal" who sells me my drugs is a 20 year old Biology major in my apartment building who slings a little fire so he can afford to pay for WoW and GameFly every month. He gets it from a legal distributor in California.
If you know someone who can get it legal or grow it them self I have no problem, but there are a lot of criminals involved in drugs, and most people get it, either them self or second hand from criminals.

I have a fear of death and an even greater fear of spending too much money on anything other than videogames, food, or other necessities.

I'm living the straight edge lifestyle, not because I want to be straight edge, or for religious/political reasons, I just happen to not enjoy smoking weed and the taste of alcohol is nasty in my opinion, but I am all for the legalisation of weed, I see no problem with weed and think it just makes criminals out of people who don't deserve that label. Most other drugs however I am against.

I find no need to.

I have no need to 'fit in' with any Drug-Using friends, as I have no such friends (close friends, anyway)

I don't need the 'inspiration' or other supposed artistic benefits

I don't need it for medical purposes

I don't particularly want to, what with the illegality and the occasional side-effects/addiction problems

It's just a general smorgasbord (sp?) of reasons.

The effect's its had on people, especially one of my family members. I don't drink either or smoke, i just don't see the joy in any of it. It just seems over rated all it and its not good for you.

I know he wasn't really referring to medical drug use. It's just whenever drugs become a topic of conversation there is always one person who stands on the high horse and starts spouting who they would never use a drug in their lives, and then go take aspirin for a headache. While it's all very well to say they wouldn't do the higher class, non-medical drugs, I find it funny how they will get riled up over the word "drug" and use it as a blanket term, forgetting that it includes the cough medicine they took that morning or the tea they're sipping right this minute.

This is exactly the thing one friend told me. My question in response would just be the opposite: Well, why would I?

Never really wanted to do anything like marijuana, I suppose. The heath fuck-ups from smoking also put me right off every trying, considering it's screwed up my family a bit.

Drinking, however... well, yeah, I do that quite a bit. I'm no alcoholic, but you could probally catch me out with some friends drinking once every 2 or so weeks.
