So to summarize the OP... You don't like Halo because you were bad at it?

That makes perfect sense...

You forgot Starcraft. And to prove my point, there's schools in Korea that teach how to play it. Playing it requires encyclopedic knowledge on every race's units, every map available, a huge number of building orders a player might use and how to counter them, and, of course, being able to multitask and perform a painstaking amount of actions at blinding speed, including building your base(s), commanding your troops (most of the times in two separate fronts) and investing in researches and improvementes in order to make your amry stronger than your enemy's. Or, in other words, having a big amount of actions per minute.
And to add to this the huge amount of skill and knowledge required along with the excitement and variety of matches is exactly why StarCraft is so successful as an eSport. If you've ever watched professional StarCraft matches (even if you're like me and don't do very well playing the game) you can understand.

I wouldn't be so in love with StarCraft if it was easy to compete with better players.
Oh no, don't get me wrong, I ADORE Starcraft. I just realize how much of a ***** it's being to get good at it. But hey, I've gotten into the silver leauges! Yay me!
I got that, I was actually kind of just backing you up and totally wanting to spread the love of StarCraft, whenever the opportunity presents itself really.

Hey, everyone! Check out Day9 TV, especially his Funday Monday segments! Get into StarCraft2 and make eSports big! Woo!

As for the other games you did not really justify them. Why do you hate WoW and Mario Cart?
Well WoW, is entirely endgame content. Everyone I've talked to refers to leveling as a grind and the "Game" as a a lot of fun. They later explained when you are top level you get EVERYTHING cool that you can't do early on. It's not about being good at the game, it's about working your ass off at WOW to get to the point where you can have fun.
And if you want to know about Mario Kart, just read some of my other posts. I think I've made it clear
Ah I see what you mean with the Mario Kart thingy. However just think about the people who do take that game seriously. Got a mental picture? Good, now do you wanna be like that?

As for WoW that can be said about pretty much any MMO (maybe with the exception of Guild Wars....maybe). They all seem to be about the end game content, but that is just the genre it makes you feel like you have achieved something (all be it virtual and ultimately meaning less). However I understand your plight with this scenario and to an extent agree (not a big WoW fan myself.

Though it does beg the question why games like CoD are not on your list. It may just be me but I find them equally as in accessible (if not more) than the other games you have mentioned. So what's your take?

The vehicals are only put in place for (i'm sorry) people who are too stupid to aim a gun or last longer than 5 seconds on the battle field... so instead they get given these awful to drive vehicals that allow players with no talent to run over other players who have enough guts to fire the damn weapon they were given. As for flying vehicles... 'cluck cluck cluck... come down here and take me on fair and square'
I lol'd again.

Complaining about vehicles because you couldn't figure out how to beat them huh?
Did I say I couldn't beat them??.. Rocket launcher in the face shuts up most vehicles from experience so no... I'm not having trouble thanks.

I'm simply saying It takes more talent to shoot somebody than drive a heavily armoured truck or something at them.. And dont start saying it takes skill to drive/fly something at a guy with two feet and gun because it doesn't.
Except that every vehicle in the game can be jumped over. Every Vehicle.

So you hate it because people are better than you?

Well, that would be a totally valid reason if the game didn't have a singleplayer

From what I can tell it would seem you don't have a problem with the games but rather your friends attitudes when beating you that you have a problem with.

Someone might need some new friends.

What the hell is "Mario *C*art" and what the hell is it doing on your list?

Was a racing game on the N64, and later every other console, portable or otherwise, that Nintendo made.

I'm not exactly sure why you'd compare Mario Kart to Halo. Anyone can win at Mario Kart, due to the fact that people in last place had the best chance at getting the really good items. One being the blue shell that homes in on the person in first place. This can easily turn the tide of a game.

So really, a game like Mario Kart is more based on luck than skill.

As for hating a game because you aren't good at it, I can kind of see where you're going with it. It can be frusterating getting destroyed by a person who has played the game more than you do. I don't think that's a good reason for saying it's a bad game however. Of course that's a different topic altogether.

(I appolgize if there are any spelling errors. I'm using a computer that doesn't have spellcheck.)

As a side note, try a rocket launcher only match - skill suddenly becomes a lot less important.
I had friends were the first match of any Halo get together was rocket only, invisibility free for all.

It was great!

"Nope, the owner of the X-Box killed us all in glorious excess. And even gloated about it. At this point I turned on Halo as a game. Sure, it is a competitive game. It is designed to be a challenge but let's face it. If I don't OWN an X-Box and play Halo on a regular basis, it's hard to get into it. It's an all or nothing game. You have to play it, you have to get good at it. Otherwise you are wasting your time."

This is stupid (and this is coming from someone who doesn't like any of the Halo games).

You were playing competitive multiplayer - if someone's better than you then they should be the one winning. Complaining you have to invest some time in it is ridiculous.

I'm not really into competitive multiplayer myself, I like to play games at my own pace essentially without having to worry about keeping up with the skill of a community. The only real exception I make is for Fighting games, and I don't play those hardcore competitively either. I am a big fan of Co-op stuff though, me and my bud have played through Resi 5 like 7 times.

I don't think that simply playing a game entitles you to be good at it, or even competitive. If you don't put in the time, no matter what your justification, you shouldn't be as successful as someone that does. Attempts to balance this kind of thing out is part of what prevents games from becoming a serious competitive endeavor.

That's my thoughts at any rate. Not every game is for everyone.

So if you're not good at a game you hate it? Thats pretty dumb. To be good at a game you have to have it, you don't so why can't you just say "Oh I know I am gonna do bad, but I am still going to enjoy my time playing?".

(SPOILER: the part about pushing a bomb out of the ship into space at an enemy ship and using the blast to push himself back onto the original ship was when everything started going down hill.)
WHen did that happen?
And Halo has a great story!

OT: At least you have a better reason than because its popular.
