I don't see what's so different about Halo in this respect from other games.

I don't see your point, you don't like the games because you aren't very good. That is ridiculous,to be good at something you have to be either naturally talented or invest time and effort into practicing it and to dislike something because you can't instantly do well is silly.

When I first started playing Halo 3 I was lucky if I got any more than seven or eight kills to around fifteen deaths. Eventually after a few weeks I was starting to have an even k/d on occasion, and games became more rewarding as a result.

Also having played World of Warcraft for about 6 months a few years ago I never really had any problems with higher levels than me as I found the high levels as something to aspire to, WoW is something that you have to spend some time on to get good at and can be incredibly rewarding, especially when you reach that level you aspired to or earned enough gold to buy that spell etc.
In fact I found that WoW was more fun at earlier levels than higher levels.

Halo is easier than alot of other shooters since you don't need to bullshit down the sights, and only like 3 guns get headshot bonuses.

Halo is as user friendly as it gets.

Your story makes me believe that you don't hate Halo but rather that you hate online multiplayer. You don't really sound like much of a gamer to be honest. When Cod4 Came out I didn't own an xbox and when I played with my friends I got steamrolled, but that didn't detract from the experience, I was just awed and excited by the gameplay and enviornment. If you had any success at all playing Halo 1 than you would still should have been able to get a power weapon and go on a spree. Honestly is getting beaten really all that bad? My little sister kicks my ass on a regular basis on Mario Cart and it's never gotten to me. If your not enjoying the game you should look at the ass-hats your playing with not at the game. I also totally disagree that Halo is difficult to approach, you can play cooperative or single player at increasingly difficult levels. Getting used to the controls and physics are whats important in multiplayer, if you can beat campaign on heroic you can play multiplayer fine imo.

That's true, but I've come to learn that futility can be the best part of life.

Denial, hope, love, self-preservation. Would you live without them?

which is why i always played coop with scoring off; much more entertaining. the one time i submitted to turning individual scoring on, it was a disaster; everything enjoyable about the game was ignored by my peers in favor of killstealing and leaving everyone else to die so they could have first blood on the next group of enemies.

thats the problem with multiplayer in general these days; they dont even WANT to be fun, they want to keep you addicted to getting a bigger highscore than the other guy. at least in arcade games, you were bettering YOURSELF at the same game by trying to beat a high score; now the entire experience is meta-gamed away.

ive said it before and ill say it again; super smash bros and conkers bad fur day. both games had multiplayer pretty much entirely dedicated to screwing around with crazy weapons, levels, characters, what have you. tourney players for SSB made their own rules and do their own thing, while everyone else can bullshit around just as freely. modern multiplayer requires a dedicated group of good friends who are more interested in just hanging out then getting a triple kill, yet modern multiplayer keeps turning gamers away from that ideal and towards interactive crack; not good for you, you might not even like it, but you cant stop playing it (to the dismay of friends and family who'd rather you do something FUN with them instead of yelling at them for stealing your kill or camping).

i used to have great times with my cousins playing SSB, conker, and goldeneye. now im the only one who doesnt race through coop trying to get a high score or meta-games the fun out of versus.

While everyone is intitled to their own opinion, it sounds like you've got some kind of misplaced grudge because your friend made you feel bad at it...don't brand an entire series as bad just because your friends steam-rolled you the first time you played it.

Also, you know that halo had a rather nice single player mode right?

Okay, here's my bit. I have read people saying "In order to be good, you have to have the game and practice". That's all fine and good, IF you are able to get better. I am speaking as one of the very few people who actually CAN'T play shooters. I am unable to get better. I once played halo 5 hours straight, I didn't get even 1 kill better, even with my friend teaching me. Then, I played it for about an hour a day for a week, and I still wasn't better. In solo on easy I was dying 10-20 times per level. There ARE those of us who CAN'T play shooters.

I find that halo is perhaps more accessible to those who don't own it as opposed to the more popular fps's of today's time. Mostly because everything is constant, you don't have a preset class that you're expected to use the entire match (see COD) and there isn't any ADS with non-sighted weapons. With hip-firing more feasible, someone who isn't amazing at fps's can still play the game, but will still always be beaten by pros. If you and a bunch of friends play with one or two other guys who are amazing, and they gloat over winning, I'd laugh at them for being so proud over winning at a shooting gallery.

So, your complaint is you have to own the game and it's console to be good at it? So someone who owns it has more chance of winning?

Why does this logic seem overly obvious and solution seem rather reasonable?

Not really a reason to say a game is bad. It's just a genre that's not suited for you.
Very true. I was just pointing out something that a surprising amount of people aren't aware of. I do agree however that it is... illogical to say a game is bad simply because you are unable to play/can't deal with the competition. If you don't like competition, don't play multi-player games, play DnD (the board game, NOT DDO).

So you hat halo because you suck? That sounds like something my little sister would say. I know this may seem unnecessarily cruel but Halo isn't that hard. Maybe you're just naturally bad at it or something but I did quite well the first time I played Halo 2 (and I had a shit load of fun). Sure my friend (who owned the game) was better than me but I still had fun trying to beat him. And my two other friends playing, thank god for four player.

And why is mario cart on your list? That game is easy as fuck.

Again, sorry if this offends you but I had to speak the truth on this one.

It seems as though most of the people who are quoting me misunderstood my post. Allow me to clarify:

I was making fun of the OP's typo. I know what Mario KART is already. I own the Wii version. I just don't use the Wifi.

Are we all crystal-clear on the issue?

I agree that Halo is a game you have to play a lot to be good at. When I first got a 360 I had Halo 3 and COD WaW, and I played Call of Duty, because I could hold up better online. But Halo 3 had forge, and that kept me hanging around. Eventually I had played enough custom games (mostly infection) to get proficient. I'm still not good enough to hold up very well online, but I can hold out against my friends in custom games, and custom games in Halo have been some of my best gaming experiences. So yes, Halo is hard to master, but I would never call it a bad game.

What the hell is "Mario *C*art" and what the hell is it doing on your list?
Sorry about that. I edited it.
Mario Cart is on the list for the simple reason that I CANNOT beat a single Asian person online.
If you ever log in to Mario Cart and play online and you see someone from Japan, Rage quit IMMEDIATELY. That is why it is on the list.
You poor dude I don't think you're gonna catch a break, kuz you did it again twice lol.

And yeah I do kind of see where you are coming from with the topic but it does boil down to, You aren't as good as the other player so why hate the game? I'm sure you are better at other games that your opponent isn't or you may just not be one of those people that is into heavy competition. If that is the case stick to split screen gameplay and if the person is totally mopping the floor with you, introduce some liquid handicap.

I'm looking forward to spending Saturday with my best bud and getting totally tanked while playing a couple of games. Which will most likely culminate in some epic struggle in a Soul Calibur game since he actually beat me 30-25 last time he was over. God damn I love our back and forth on that series, ever since SCI....now to SCIV
