It is the weirdest thing why does Seth McFarlane make one of Brian's belief Atheism when in the show Family Guy he has seen and talked to Jesus multiple times? I know it's just a fictional t.v program I just want to know is there some kind of joke he is doing that I am not getting? Is there?
Besides the fact that youre talking about a cartoon that has crossed numerous lines all the time, and the fact that the DOG CAN SPEAK ENGLISH!

I would say hes still an atheist because...hes an atheist. Atheists dont believe in gods/deities. Brian wouldnt instantly flip his life around because he would consider Jesus just a normal man and nothing else.

just because you know something exists, you do not have to believe in it.... and also, its a comedy cartoon show

Because Brian was originally written that way and one of the laws of TV is that nothing ever changes.

Also, he's a douche.

Why do people in South Park debate religion when Jesus has a talk show?

And is a part of a multi-religion super-hero group?

Let me fix that for you

My god that's funny. Here's the real image for those that want to see, from season 5. This is the first time that they showed Muhammad. In season 10 (of South Park) they had the Family Guy two-parter which didn't show Muhammad except in the Family Guy universe, followed by episodes 200 and 201 last season which had Muhammad censored again.

I had no idea what you were talking about for a moment. You are talking about a comedy show that makes very little sense when you think about it. I mean Brian is a talking, bipedal dog man thing.

Maybe that is just a feature of Brian's stubborn politcal viewpoint, or maybe it's because he is a dog and has no soul, or maybe you are taking a childish, immature cartoon way too seriously?

One of those options. Also, Kenny dies in virtually every episode of South Park, and is still alive in the next one, why hasn't anyone noticed this, and why aren't they worshipping Kenny as he is obviously some sort of immortal being?
Hey hey , brian does have a soul , remember : All dogs go to heaven , so atheist or not hes going there.

Enough of an ass, since he's not mine, either.

But then, "our" didn't automatically include you, even if I was speaking for myself.

And please, don't pretend Christianity isn't, as I said, LARGELY defined by this basic tenet.

I don't really care that you're being pedantic, but at least don't be pedantic over bases I already covered.

Being bases I covered extremely early on, in either my first or second posts, I am left to wonder why my clarification of my statements is pedantic, while your stating the specifics given by my generality is not. My point at heart remains--that seeing or understanding someone doesn't mean you immediately adopt their beliefs, given that Brian can know the figure of Christ, but not adopt his teachings, as was asked by the OP.

Because, I hate to say it, but Brian is pretty much a Mary Sue character that the writers have created to put their opinions down the throat of the viewer. No other character in Family Guy (not including over-exaggerated stereotypes or strawmen) is as opinionated as he is.

You're trying to take a comedy show seriously.

I wasn't trying to take the show seriously oh no there is nothing serious about family guy, I wanted if there was a joke I wasn't getting that's all. My bad for the lack of detail.

Actually they DO explain his multiple deaths and why no one remembers them during one of the Coon episodes.
Basically he is some sort of a superhero and his power is the ability to come back to life the next day after death and a side affect of this is that nobody ever remembers him dying either.

Brian is an atheist when he's met Jesus in person because Seth MacFarlane is trying to pull off a joke that was done much better by Terry Pratchett in Dorfl the golem.

I'm reasonably certain that the entire point of one of the more recent episodes is that Brian is a shallow, impressionable hypocrite who believes whatever was last said to him in an inspiring tone. His political viewpoint is many things, but not stubborn.
