Ok, first off, i know that there is plenty of hate for Justin Bieber going around, but im not doing this because i hate him. I dont. I dont like his music but i dont dislike the person. With that out of the way, why does everyone (well all the people who like him anyway) think he will last? The Jonas brothers were popular as all hell, but when was the last time you heard anything about them? Hell every big star with teens (especially teen girls) seems to be popular as hell, but then dissapear without a trace not long after their popularity. Remember anything about Nsync aside from their name and maybe a single hit song?

Anyway, the way i figure its just a matter of a year (generously) until you stop hearing about him all together, but i think its funny how so many people think hes here to stay. Then again i think i may have answered my own question somewhere in there... Anyway, please feel free to post your own speculations. Good speculating Escapists!

It always happens with these pop sensations. They get huge popularity, tons of money, lots of songs, then after some time they're gone, only to be heard of years later when they died of snorting of coke off of a car engine or something.

It's happened with many people, lots of which are one-hit wonders, namely bands.

Even if its a joke it is quite likely, in all seriousness. He is famous as a "handsome" teen idol. As he ages he will become less cute by teen girls standards, and his voice will change into something that i predict will sound like Alvin and the chipmunks on ridlin. Also, i would like to hope that the inevitable next teen idol we hear from isnt as bad. I may not hate justin bieber, but i wish to god he would stop making music so i could stop hearing it.

Is this surprising at all? These "pop-stars" are just money machines for record labels, studios, merchandising and advertising companies, etc. Once their "new and exciting" time has ended the profit margin decreases and a new one is born. They're not really musicians, and they're not really going to have a serious impact on music.

Britney Spears
Actually just came out with a new album. Was #1 on the Billboard 200, selling nearly 300 000 copies in first-week sales.

Not that I care, just saying that she's still around. XD

Look at any pop sensation ever. Let me name a few that I haven't heard about in months now:

Britney Spears
Chris Brown
Spice Girls
and so on and so forth.

And honestly who cares if they fade away.
Chris brown just released a new album.

He also recently broke a window at a news station because they mentioned that he, you know, has anger problems.

Course if folks kept badgering me about a past life event I guess that would get old.

I have some speculations of my own.

The Beatles. They started out as "pop trash" too, right? I've only figured this out recently, mostly because I never like their earlier music when I listen to it. It's what they were. "Guitar bands are on their way out." So, they spend a few years like that, and get to unimaginable levels of pop stardom. Girls screamed over them like they scream over, hey, Justin Bieber. Then what happened? They started to make ART. Not POP.

Although, I will say the current batch of tweens has musical ADD, unable to concentrate on one band for more than eight seconds.

But, let's say they like Bieber enough to support him until even he starts to get bored of auto-tune. What then? If he does have any talent, he'll find a new label, new songwriter (Because we all know he sucks at it), new producer, and a new image. Maybe go on a soul-search in Nepal, I don't know. And then he comes back- BAM!

ART. Not POP. Hey, it happens with all sorts of classic rock bands. You just don't see all the criticism of their pop-ier songs, or at least, not the bad criticism. Criticism as bad as what we give to Bieber.

If that type of thing happens with any artist, my money's more on Lady Gaga. She actually had a little bit of singing talent in the first place. Maybe if she can revert herself back to piano-playing local-American Idol-auditioning former persona than she can start making some actual good music.

I think he CAN last if he really wants to. The kid can sing, and with his current popularity he might grow into something better than just bubblegum songs. If he found a good songwriter or became a good songwriter himself, and tailored those songs to play to his vocal strengths, I definitely think he could last.

Well, look at MJ. He started out as a kid and he still performed up to the day he died.
MJ was the "prince of pop" and gained lots of attention for various reasons. If I'm not mistakened, his popularity started when he was part of the Jackson-5 (I'm not a fan or knowledgable of MJ so I could be wrong). Bieber is different because he's an internet sensation that became a pop-star in a time where music companies use and go through many teen stars.

Anybody remember Aaron Carter? He was exactly like Justin Bieber; A Pop singing, teenage male with tons of screaming fangirls. I have not heard anything about him for along awhile.
I just looked it up and his last alblum came out in 2002.
I feel this is exactly what will happen to Justin Bieber, he will just fade into obscurity.

I heard one of his recent songs, couldn't be bothered to remember the name, the kid just doesn't have a good voice. Once his squealing, sh*tcaked fanbase outgrows the simplistic lyrics and girlish good looks, there won't be much left.

He can only have tweens as his primary fanbase for so long before he needs to retool and target an older demographic, and I just don't see him as having enough talent to pull it off.

Sadly this is most likely true. When was the last time our ears were graced by NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys? How long has it been since we were enchanted by Hanson? Too long, my friends.

Sarcasm aside though, shit like this always happens. People have short attention spans, and soon a nice haircut and poppy tunes won't be enough to save Bieber. I'm afraid to say this, but, Bieber's "team" are taking precautions to preserve his voice. It will change slowly and only until he's in his 20s. And don't ask me how I know that.
