Hey I bet it would be Glen Becks favorite game ever. And if people didn't buy it then he'd just call them communists, so I bet it would sell a ton.
OH, SNAP!

Everyone would rather just forget about that inconvenient era of American history...

Honestly, the uproar would be tsunamical.
because i am sure the Germans are super proud of their history.

We kill Nazis, we kill the Japanese, we kill police officers. I don't see how a game in that era of America would be any more controversial than GTA or Manhunt.

There are several movies about that era, so it isn't like it is completely untouched in our culture.
This.

There is no reason why I should not be allowed to but bullets in bunch of stupid bedsheet wearing rednecks.

If we kill White Supremacists, why not Black Supremacists, Mexican Supremacists etc etc? because its a dumb idea, and any game containing it would instantly be looked at as a joke game. Perhaps a free browser game or something, but it would never be a real game.

Only problem is, Germany isn't quite as... forgetful as America.

Incidentally, I've been doing the Klan in history class today, and I couldn't help but wonder what Ku Klux Klan actually [i/]meant[/i]. I mean it doesn't look English, so what is it?
The organisation consisted largely of idiots who couldn't spell. They were originally called the Kyklos (Greek for "Circle") Clan. Wikipedia is unclear as to where the name came from, but it is suggested that they may have been influenced by another, similar organisation known as the Knights of the Golden Circle.

Now, in response to the rest of the thread:

I think a Klan - blasting game would be a great idea. Let's show the remaining Klansmen what the world thinks of them!

Have we ever had an all out war with the KKK? Therefore would any game involving them be any good?

lol, unless it was a parody...

They still exist in belgium, but they've renamed themselves for obvious reasons. Sadly they've gotten as much as 30% of the vote in recent years.

The article says they're just Nazi Sympathizers and associates, not the real party.

Are you serious? The KKK? That is just distasteful. Let's play as fucking Nazis next burning Jews in death camps. After that we can make a game playing as Pol Pot killing his way across Cambodia.
Well actually I don't think he's saying you play as a Klansman, rather you secretly work against them and kill them. That would be kind of fun. I always did hate them.
If they are the villains that would be OK. I guess I misunderstood his meaning. It seemed to me he was joking about playing as a KKK member.

...I would honestly like to shoot up some Klansmen in a game, no reason but to just shoot them up. I think the only real think preventing such a game from development is that the views held by the KKK (and I'm just throwing my two cents in here) is protected by the Free Speech" amendment and any attempt to vilify any group or organization because there views conflict with accepted social norms (or they are just plain racist Bigots) would incite massive lawsuits if the depicted group or organization has the capital (money) to go after any and all companies involved. I think it would help if racist views were not protected under Free Speech but then It wouldn't really be Free Speech.

Give it a couple of years, and something like it may get released.
People may start treating games as a proper artistic medium by then.
If gaming makes the effort to be less juvenile, that is.

I'm hoping it is full of tasteless racism. I don't know why but racism is funny to me. Not to any specific race, but racism in general.

It probably has something to do with the clan not being threatening anymore. In fact, they are closer to pathetic. We want to fight someone that seems like a threat like Nazis, the Government, or Aliens.
