People hate the police here in the UK because you can get searched without consent (you can ask why, but that's about all the rights you have) among other things. The social stigma attached the police is partly their doing. Partly (there are enough documentaries out there to colour your opinion on the UK police force).

I have a friend who's part of the Met, but I'm still weary of them. There has been some real shady shit in the past associated with them, even if it doesn't represent them as a whole...

And I'm pretty sure they have my prints on file, and I've only broken one law in my life (which wasn't what I got printed for, and I'm pretty sure they don't know about).

Lets get this strait,EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO LISTENS TO RAP IN MY COUNTRY HATES THE POLICE!!!Sorry for caps, won't happen again!I don't understand why do they hate the police so much here, they will kill for their favorite team (witch is ether partizan or red star) even though the two teams didn't do any thing for them,AND THEY BOTH SUCK!Sorry,:p.All I am saying is that the police is doing a lot more for us then some people running around on grass kicking balls into boxes....
......what is this? I don't even know what you're trying to say. Where do you live that "EVERYONE SINGLE PERSON WHO LISTENS TO RAP IN MY COUNTRY HATES THE POLICE!!!"? Where does this complaint come from, please fix you're grammar and clarity in this.

Now by going off of the Thread Title I'll say people don't like how a select group of people has power just by having a badge. They tend to have a bad experience or two, or even worse their friend had a bad experience with a cop, and they generalize all cops that way. Not to mention we only hear about the fuck ups with the police, you never hear about Officer X, who was on patrol all day today, gave out 4 tickets for Traffic Violations, responded to a traffic accident, and did paperwork
Since he said the football teams Red Star and Partizan, I believe he lives in Belgrade. I'd hate to be a copper there, to be honest, when you guys riot, you make sure everyone remembers.

The main reason is most people who listen to rap un-ironically are immature teenagers who are in their "rebellious" phase and it's cool to run around saying "fuck the police" and not really caring to take into account who the people are and simply label them due to a badge. You may dislike the police for personal reasons; bad run ins, finding a bad cop or being a criminal, but 99% of the time they are average Joes like everyone else, just trying to feed their family. That "rebellious" phase is something most people grow out of and people begin to understand the previously stated fact.

I'm one of the people who will believe it when I see it.

I have never seen a police officer abuse his power. In fact, the few times that I have dealt with them, they were extremely kind to me (where as I was actually kind of a dick).

Now watch me quote people.

Are there bad cops? Of course, but not to the degree Hollywood portrays. Policemen and women are usually good people who believe strongly in justice and peace, but the media only focus on the police who taze people or arrest 8-year-olds because it makes for a good story. And often times the unreasonable things we think cops do are not really their fault, but rather caused by stupid rules and regs they have to follow (ie speed traps).
Agreed. Much of this police hate comes from the media, whether it be music of Hollywood, it's very idiotic.

But... I do think that the justice system in general is extremely flawed. There are laws that are extremely unnecessary, and then there are laws that really need to get made.

Eh, police are not so bad.

I knew one policeman who caught me drinking on various occasions. He just told me and my friends to be careful, but considering we had gone to a quiet place where there was no houses around, we could stay.

I've also known police to know that someones got alcohol in their bag, but they're underage, however they just "forget to check" if its at the end of exams.

Some police-officers are dicks, most are probably not and just doing their job, a few may be nice and lenient within reasonable grounds and rely heavily on their common sense. I wouldn't like to generalise towards such a large and diverse profession.

That makes sense because those who listen to rap often, correctly or not, associate themselves with the "street life" and part of the percieved "street life" is being downtrodden by corrupt police officers(in the US, anyway).

Plus, having the same message "Fuck da Police!" in 1 out of every 5 gangster rap songs tends to make you believe it.

In the UK the Met (London based) police force have quite rightly come under a lot of fire recently.

Several years ago, a member of their body killed a man and there has been a systematic cover up through the whole organisation. At first denial, but that was thankfully countered by a video clearly showing the officer in question assaulting the man without provocation (not even part of the protest, just a man trying to get home from work) when he had his back turned, hands in pockets. There has been a frankly slanderous campaign to dirty the character of the victim for several years, as if the fact that he was an alcoholic somehow makes a policeman killing him justified. The original coroner, who has a known history of pro-police bias, has had his original findings thrown out of the window by the following 3 independent coroners. Can we really trust an organisation that would have buried a killing if somebody did not happen to be videotaping it, that would have happily ignored the issue if independent examiners had not taken an interest? In short, do you trust an organisation to uphold the law if they treat it with such disdain when it applies to them?

We are lucky in that (for the first time after several such cases) the killing has been ruled unlawful and I hope that the officer will face at very least a manslaughter charge. You know, as anybody else would in this situation.

The Met seem to think they are above the law, and their motives have changed from their original purpose. They protect the state rather than the people. For the most part this distinction means little, but their recent heavy-handed actions against protesters, some not even into their teens, shamefully attacking a young man in a wheelchair, and their total failure to do their stated role (ie: keeping the peace. 'Kettling' has precisely the opposite effect to this) has left my cynical.

I will just leave you with this: have you ever had a positive experience with the police? All I have ever seen of them is incredibly arrogant, bullish cops on the street and an organisation that seems built to deter people from getting justice.

I have no doubt that most policemen join because they want to uphold the law and keep the streets safe. But the dual problems of a burgeoning bureaucracy and a tendency to hire violent thugs to 'guard' protesters has left the whole organisation unfit for purpose. Another issue to think of, is that in the last 20 years we have seen a huge population growth, but the number of policemen has not risen accordingly. This means crimes get ignored and those that are followed are 'easy targets' such as speeding violations in order to meet the increasing demands of above mentioned bureaucracy.

I personally have no problem with the police in my country (Sweden).

I've never bothered them and they've never bothered me.

One day there will be only one law, and that law will be "live by the gun". Least if the whole apocalypse nonsense will really happen.

Yeah,I didn't say that every rapper in Serbia sings about the police, and how the mafia is great and the people who listen to them also hate the police to!My friend got cashed by the police for listening to songs against them,he is 12 and he escaped them.
I live in Jagodina, also in Serbia but It isn't much better here ether.I don't get why do they care so much, when you say you like Partizan to a red star fan,it's like you killed his entire family.I think they like those teams because of two things, number 1. they fight,A LOT. number 2.They can sing Partizan or red star songs,I think they sing only dose songs because for those songs you only need to know the lyrics, and I guess they like to sing :)

We have a lot of distrust police around here because an awful lot of idiots and psychopaths seem to become police officers.

For one, there was a policeman who drove up next to a moped that was driving SLIGHTLY too fast and it wasn't even fast to begin with and instead of signaling him to stop/pull over/etc HE KICKED HIM OFF THE MOPED.

It's not that I hate them, it's just that in my country they often beat up people just because they are bored (It happened to some friends of mine). Or, I don't know, they send bombs to Ireland. Not a prime example for us, Law/abiding citizens ;)

Fail.

OT: Most cops are alright. There are morons in every profession, though. But even stupid cops can't touch you if you respect the law.

Cops ain't too bad in my area but they are kinda on the offensive when ever they talk to you from the get go, You've just gotta be respectful and they'll ease up pretty quick. I've only had a couple run ins with them though. I suppose it's kind of luck of the draw if you get a reasonable one or not.

I can't read these fukin captchas when the word has a shadow.
