Why so much hate for Halo in particular

I hate the fanbase and reviewers who're blatenly payed to give it perfect scores, the game itself is solid and fun, but it annoys me how it's shown as the PERFECT GAME OF ALL TIME EVAR, akin the the second coming. Also, I don't understand the amazement the forge is, as far as I'm aware it's a level editor (now correct me if I'm wrong here), the fact that the creators even say "Oh a level editor is revolutionary in the genre" heck level editors have been around ages, and even if we're saying for consoles Time splitters had a level editor.

Besides I'm a valve fan myself.

Because Halo has far more fans among the great unwashed and somehow it's become the new cool thing to do, like bashing religion.
No, bashing religion has a point.

Halo, on the other hand, is just a generic FPS game that has MANY flaws, but most people who bash it probably don't know or care.
Fixed!
Fixed according to, yet again, your opinion. Your constantly trying to pass it off as fact is really annoying.

Why can't someone have their own opinion without someone accusing them of being bribed?

well... IMVPO I think those guys just are frustrated because the "main stream" game is up at the top, when the other more artsy games (which in turn have a relatively shorter audience) are the games that get stuck bellow because "no one except them understands the game"

continuing, if a game you play is AWESOME to you, and all your friends can talk about is Halo well, you will get pissed

in my experience, i tried playing Fable 2 with a friend, i love that game, i think its a great game, and all my friend could say was "lets play call of duty" he doesnt like Halo, and i got pissed because he wasn´t even trying, it got to the point when my friend said "well, lets play Halo"

i really got angry, haha, but hey! everyone haves different tastes so i went and put Halo in, after a while he was asking to play call of duty again haha.

Just because it's an opinion, that doesn't make it immune to criticism.

For example:

Final Fantasy 7 has the best graphics ever.

There are a number of points you could come up to disprove that. But because it's my opinion, it's not allowed to be disproved?

Also, 10/10 implies that the game was PERFECT and had no flaws, which even the fans admit the single player wasn't that great.

Well I like halo.
The gameplay's average,the story's average,the multiplayer's decent,the music's repetitive.
What's not to like.
None of this is true.Halo is brilliant.
Yeah I can edit posts to make it look like you said something else too.

you just basicly proved my run of the mill comment right.
Halo has mutiplayer and a bad single player, so its perfect is it ?
there are much better games out there that have good mutiplayer and a good single.
after all you dont buy an FPS JUST for mutiplayer...if you do then good for you
I'll go back to playing a nice long FPS.

Erm, the second part amuses me, a game without single player...like what?
and my point is, that Halo is not some super special awesome game.
its an FPS with mutiplayer WOOO new awesome (not) the single player is short enough for a nine year old to finish in a day.

im not saying your dumb for liking halo.
what im saying is dont claim its pefect when its JUST an average FPS.
TEAM FORTRESS 2! (cruise control for cool)

You have ignored my points. Team Fortress 2 has no single player, and is brilliant. Unreal Tournament 3 has a titchy rubbish single player that is little more than an extended tutorial. Yet they are both very good games. My point is, just because you expect the single player to be the best part of a game doesn't mean it has to be. If you were reasonable you'd just say "Okay, it doesn't look like my kind of game. I prefer games which focus on single player." Then we'd all be fine. You think that multiplayer is the same for all games, without accounting for quality within it.

Plus, I don't think Halo is perfect. It's campaign is too short. But that doesn't mean everything about is poor. Since people (joob nook) keep referring to Yahtzee, I'll refute with this:

If a game has poor single player, then it's not perfect. But for God's sake at least try the multiplayer to find out where the game is below perfect. 'Below perfect' isn't much of an analysis.

Yep, you've conclusively proved your point there. No arguing with that.

I can't disprove that. I could point out games that have higher polygon counts etc, but if your opinion was that they didn't look as good as Final Fantasy VII, there would be nothing I could say to disprove it.

I was pointing out that just because they liked a game that you didn't, you have no grounds to say that they were bribed to give it high scores. Unless you have evidence of course.

its a disappointment when you play it, because of all the hype it recieves I think - I find that with alot of games through for example the Gears of War Series, you get the impression these serieses are going to be some port of third testament changing the world as we know it however really its just well executed product... plus I don't care what anyone says the story is really bad quite why it deserves a movie made out it is beyond me - but them I suppose Max Payne had an amazing story but that got butchered by the filmmakers...

High scores is fine, perfect scores on the other hand imply bad journalistic intergrity, bias or being payed, as the fans themselves admit the single player was lacking, so that in itself shows a bias towards giving the game a 10/10 score, for it the single player was lacking, the score could never be 10/10 if it was a fair review.

Maybe Halo's just something everyone knows about. I bet more people know about Halo than Half-Life, so they pick on Halo to make their point.
It's just a possibility, I'm just guessing.

I think the reason most peole hate Halo is because Yahtzee hates it.
Because Yahtzee is usually true.
Wow, it turns out that the wild accusations of 'Yahtzee following' were actually accurate for once. Yahtzee is rarely true. That doesn't stop my enjoying Zero Punctuation, but when I want a proper analysis/review of a game, I like to find someone who at least has the patience to explore everything the game has to offer. Or pay attention in the cutscenes. He's a funny guy, that Yahtzee, but accurate he ain't.

*with shotgun in hand, takes behind barn, loud bangs heard

can we just let this argument die already
nobody is going to get along on this subject so just everyone shutup.

Both games are good so lets just leave it alone now
