OK,everyone in my family and all their friends are on facebook and they keep bickering to me about how I should get on it as well. And here's why they say I should.

"It's a great place to discuss things"
I do that already on the Escapist, plus I'm on a website thats more than just discussing things it's also about a subject I'm fond of: gaming.

"It's a great way for you to keep in touch with old friends and evreryone else"
If I wanted to keep in touch with my old friends from high school or wherever, I would be in touch with them, but I don't care to because their probably doing the same things working at the same Wal-Mart, and complaining about how theres nothing to do, plus theres this bit where you can find old high school classmates or vice versa they can find you, Why do I want to talk to any of my old High school classmates?

And to keep in touch with everyone else? I can talk to my folks and brothers on the phone or when I visit home and my friends the same way, why do need to get online to talk to you when most of the time I just did.

Any way those are a few what are your thoughts? Opinions?

Tell them to go on escapist instead... though we dont have the Snake App, or any Apps at all.. we need Apps!..

To hell with facebook, that be for friends of a personal nature, Escapist be for something Else entirely.

I have a facebook, but it's just there, I take the occasional quiz, and now I use it to talk to people (only because my WLM is BROKEN!!!) But I don't understand how people can "be on" facebook for a length of time without doing something else as well.

I have facebook. I use it to catch up with stuff going on and keep in touch with friends who I don't see very often or meet once then decide to stay in touch with.

Why don't you say these things to your family/their friends? Complaining about it on here isn't going to help.

OT: Facebook is a good social networking site, and some people like it. Some people don't like it as well. No one's forcing them to use it.

Facebook is awesome. It's good for adding people from your class and using in place of email,(a lot nicer to search Katy jones, and send a message regarding class than to get their email which they prolly don't even check) it lets you keep up with people you only see/hang with every so often. Rather than texting 25 different people just put up an event . "basketball game tonight 8pm civic center" is a lot swifter and less workt than trying to text everyone with details. It's nice for keeping up with families lives. I mean how many call their Uncle from X states away to see whats up. With Facebook you can just click their name every other week and keep up with peoples going ons.

I just made an account so that my mom would stop bugging me about it.

I have added relatives, friends and such but I'm strictly in lurk mode when I'm on Facebook. I only uploaded few photos of me and limit what people can see about me too.

I see no reason to just tell everyone out there what I'm doing. If they are that curious they'll have to meet me in person. :)

Why so many questions today involving 'why'?
and as for your hatred of facebook, why so serious?why so serious about it?if they won't leave you alone, just make one and never touch it.

I don't use it,of course nobody tells me to,guess it just sucks to be you.

Can someone please tell me what this stands for?

And I have a Facebook, don't post anything, but I have about sixteen friend requests. Some people are just strange.

In my opinion, usually.

I have a Facebook, but I rarely use it. When I did, it was more to keep in touch with a few specific friends. We sort of had a falling-out, so...

I'm a Facebook addict; I'm on it about as often as I'm on The Escapist. I'm afraid of the telephone and I don't have a texting plan (because I don't text people?go figure), so Facebook is pretty much the easiest way to make random contact with people I actually know or knew. The language on Facebook is more personal and fun, whereas, on The Escapist, I lean towards formal language and I put more thought into what I write. Both are equally useful.
