OK,everyone in my family and all their friends are on facebook and they keep bickering to me about how I should get on it as well. And here's why they say I should.

"It's a great place to discuss things"
I do that already on the Escapist, plus I'm on a website thats more than just discussing things it's also about a subject I'm fond of: gaming.

"It's a great way for you to keep in touch with old friends and evreryone else"
If I wanted to keep in touch with my old friends from high school or wherever, I would be in touch with them, but I don't care to because their probably doing the same things working at the same Wal-Mart, and complaining about how theres nothing to do, plus theres this bit where you can find old high school classmates or vice versa they can find you, Why do I want to talk to any of my old High school classmates?

And to keep in touch with everyone else? I can talk to my folks and brothers on the phone or when I visit home and my friends the same way, why do need to get online to talk to you when most of the time I just did.

Any way those are a few what are your thoughts? Opinions?
So... you created a thread about how you're not geting facebook?

Facebook banned me after a few days, but I never really cared for it.

I wanna know why the hell people use Twitter..I mean I get using it to see updates from famous people, but my friend constantly spams "I'm eating right now.", I don't even need to check it.
What did you do to get banned from facebook? I thought you coundn`t get banned.

I very much dislike facebook. It is a spammy program where people pretend to care. It is generic and boring. The world would be a happier pleace without it. We then might genuinely keep in touch. I think you are better off without facebook.
Nothing I really know of, I hadn't logged on for three days and when I finally went back to log on it said my account had been banned, so I contacted support and they said I could log on again within 24 hours.

24 or more hours later I attempted to log in again and got the same results. I just shrugged my shoulders and went on with my life.

I think my account was only a week old too.

I've met old friends. Yes, I've got drunk with them. Old friends became new friends. Also got a subtile date on it. I also knew about partys and met one of my few crazies (exs).

It's a good connection site...If you want to stay connected.

Facebook is good to stay connected to people across seas. Moving from one country to another, it's more personal with pictures and constant reminders that they are living and being cool other than emails.

All my friends use it, and it's really convenient to organise something without letting too many people know (and thus without getting gate-crashed).

Ugh, God, I hate Facebook. Most all my friends have one, and tell me to get a Facebook acount. My Girlfriend has one, and tells me to get it. My sister, my Father, et cetera... It's so annoying!

I always thought things like Facebook/Bebo (Ooh, Bebo's even worse...) were a waste of time, as if I wanted to talk to someone, I will call them and do just that. If I wante to talk to multiple people, MSN and conference calls still exist... My three best friends (Excluding my girlfriend) are on XBL with me, anyway, and I prefer to talk to them than most of the people I know from school, as a majority of my Classmates are Chavs!

Oh I don't know, perhaps because "friends and family" you can't see on a regular basis in real life or bother to at least call on the phone aren't really worth keeping in touch with over something as stupid as facebook?

Just a suggestion...

I have a Facebook, as well as a Myspace and a Twitter, and I find them all (not quite so much Twitter) good for keeping in touch with people I haven't seen in a long time or have moved overseas, and just for a little bit of fun.
It's also a good time-killer, for those short periods of time (15-20 or so minutes) before you have to do something or just for when you can't be arsed doing anything else... And I enjoy knowing exactly what my friends are doing at any given minute of the day... Yeah I'm creepy.

Facebook is best for organising events. That's what I use it for.

Also unlike most other communication methods, excluding the cost of the internet connection it's free (as opposed to anything you may do with a cellphone).

I dont even want to bother with facebook.
After alot of bickering I finally decided to get myself the Dutch version of Facebook (aka Hyves). and now I have it.. I dont do anything with it. The only thing i do like about it is the avatar function. Its also the only reason why i log onto hyves.

I mean, everyone I care about knows my emailadress so they will just mail me anyways.
Im just saying, IMO Facebook/Hyves/anything simular is just a waste of time.

So for those of you who dont have anything to do at al.. enjoy facebook ^^
*grin*

I'd rather have my family message me on Facebook than call me or expect me to call them. I hate talking on the phone.
Which is funny, because my current Facebook profile picture is a photo my wife took of me talking on the phone while we were on our honeymoon last year.

I knew a guy like you, jacob. We mad him a FB profile and gave him control over it. Moral: if hey really want you on FB then they will create your profile for you without your knowledge.

I made a Facebook-account once. It was for the purpose of field-research, so after I was done; I never logged on again. It took about an hour for me to figure out that Facebook wasn't meant for me. It was meant for those below me.
