And you should blame Resident Evil 4 for the QTE's not God of War. God of War just did them right.
Wrong answer. Before RE4, there was Shenmue back in the days of Dreamcast. Nice try though.

God of War is fun because of the combat and kinda because of the story, even if it is pretty simple (that's my opinion at least). The combat feels pretty visceral, though I admit the obsession with bare breasts is a bit overdone. You don't have to like it, and no one else has to hate it. Opinionate away, just no completely unnecessary cursing/bashing/hating! (yes, I did just make that word up)
You missunderstood my post. I know that Shenmue did QTE's first but Resident Evil 4 made them popular again.
You can cross out the "Again" because I don't think enough people even played Shemnue to consider it the game that made QTE popular.

The amount of badassery in the God of War series is amazing. The quick kills (QTE's) are really pretty and give a cinematic experience to the game, where you can just marvel at Kratos unleash some brutality! The story was compelling, and the use of Greek mythology has a really great twist to it. Finally, the settings were great and really complemented the style of the game.

You certainly haven't offended me OP, but I just can't see how anyone can't enjoy God of War. It's a foreign concept. Next you'll be telling me Shadow of the Colossus was a poorly done game, and at that point the hunt begins ^^

Unfortunately as a non PS owner I never had a chance to play the games, but from what I've seen I want to play this game because I'd control an out of control psycho killing anything in his path...

Here's why God of War was so friggin' awesome: it was all challenge and no cheap.
Well, I think Kratos' animations didn't have enough cancel frames. It was easier for an enemy to stop a combo than for me to do it trying to block. Either let me cancel the animation so I can block when I need to or make the animation invincible. Other than that, though, I agree. You rarely felt like you had to beat "the game."

The first was new and fun, the second was more of the same, and I really hope the third isn't banking on better graphics but more of the same because it was coming short in the sequel.

As much as I hate to say it and feel old about it, not only were there the people who didn't buy it and caused it to fail, there are also enough people who are new enough to gaming that they would have no idea what Shenmue is, or for that matter the Dreamcast. I can't fault anyone for not knowing what Shenmue is these days.

While you might not be able to cancel into a block, most combos can be instantly cancelled into a roll.

I'm not going to bias, but I never understood what was so great about GoW. I hated it from start to end and thought that it was a piece of Greek shit. I like myth and fantasy and I felt that Gow just wanted to put emphasis on gore and nudity. I hated the oh so respective combat and the ever ready "Fuck you button" that had a bright red "Use in case of emergency" label above every enemies head. I mean really. The story, oh God. A mellow drama about a stupid Greek general who accidentally killed his family then gos on a killing filled ***** quest to kill the God who made him do it. Maybe he should have paid more attention to who he was slaughtering! I also blame this game for starting the trend of quick time events. I would love to know what other people think because I seem to be the only one who thinks this and I think that this game was far too popular. However that is only just me. I'm sorry if I have offended anyone.
So, just to give us perspective, what games do you like?
Even I find it somehow enjoyable.
It is an undeniably good series, however, and if you don't like it, don't assume that it is because the game is over rated. More likely, you and it just don't quite fit together. I mean, all your points of argument are based on a relative scale, so you have no actual foundation in your argument.
To say that it is an overrated game just because of your personal experience is to say that anything that doesn't appeal to you is bad and overrated.

I mean, have you ever stopped and considered that happiness isn't effortless? You have to make a choice to enjoy things, but it sounds like you decided to be a cynic through the whole game.

The story isn't that good I personally think, but the combat is great. You see something and rip it to pieces, who would want more?

I personally liked it because I really felt like I was learning the combos, now I personally LOATHE hack-and-slash games because I just feel like I'm mashing random buttons but in god of war I really had to know the combos to get further in the game and it was relatively easy to learn. Also the different magic he has and how easy it is to use it in the middle of a battle made the game really fun.

And just to admit it I also love how bad-ass he is, the different ways to kill things, ripping heads of or using an enemy's own weapons and limbs against them, just so much fun.

Wait when was fast food full of tits?....i want tits....
Um... Are you blind?! They were everywhere. Frankly, the size of 'em in GOW makes me happy I'm not Greek. Even the medusas and harpies are gonna have back problems in a few decades from 'em.
