Why won't Sonic die?

Sonic died in my eyes years ago, i thought it was going bad a sonic adventure battle 2, then i had seen sonic heros after awhile later. You can always go lower than rock bottom if you use a big enough drill of disapointment.

"Hmm...people like...Sonic....and....what else do people like? Swords? Yes, swords are cool, lets give him a sword."

Then some time later, poor little jimmy sees a game cover with both Sonic, and a sword, its like christmas, only with less crazy relatives. But just as much dissapointment.

I honestly don't get what the hell Sonic is still doing here, it's one thing to be a Mascot for a specific console like Mario, Snake, Masterchief etc but SEGA left the console war ages ago. Sonic is now kind of pathetic, a mascot with nothing to represent.

I'm not even going to bother to go through the posts in this topic, because I already know that 99.9% of them are rabid morons proclaiming that any deviation from the BORING AS FUCK "Run around at high speed on a 2D plane" formula is instantly shit. I have enough of that at the Sonic Chronicles board at GameFAQs.

Sonic was founded on the running very fast on a 2D plane, so if that was shit then the very premise of the series is shit. Most complaints come to the broken controls, unusable cameras, god awful stories and terrible voice acting.

The game flopped and all the company did was announce Sonic Unleashed 2. Only one word is needed to say why sonic is still alive, and that word is nostalgia.

To kill a zombie you must destroy the brain or remove the head. Sonic is merely a withered limb on the undead beast known as SEGA.

Chu Chu Rocket, on the other hand, could use some reanimation.
