Why won't Sonic die?

If I ever get a chance to work on a game with zombies, there will be undead bearing striking resemblance to Sonic and most of the Nintendo franchise characters. The Nintendo characters will be competent and tough foes that don't really change how they fight over time, and Sonic-zombie will just be twitching on the floor in random places in the game environments, not moving forward and pretty sad and pathetic (but also a little funny) to watch.

Also, that was really funny, haha......but seriously, make that game!

I would buy that game
It would probably make more money than this new Sonic one

It's a toss-up for wanting to kill Sonic. On one hand, all the 3-D games since the original are terrible. On the other hand, Rush and, I dare say, Battle were really fun. But the reason Sonic won't die is the same reason Mario and Master Cheif won't die: there too much of a figure head.

There's a lot of Sonic hate in this thread! The way some of you are talking, you would be more than happy to decapitate Sonic and put his blue head on a silver platter.

I like Sonic - and I get what Sega is doing here, trying to make Sonic into an iconic character much like Mario, who has appeared in many games. But I think the Sonic hate is simply because Sonic Team has pretty much whored Sonic out to any game that'll take him. The reason why Mario isn't as hated is because, well, Mario has appeared in Mario games where the elements that made him a popular character are present and unaltered for the most part. By contrast, the Sonic games that have come out have either had absolutely nothing to do with the Sonic games of yore (Sonic and Mario at the Olympics) or have morphed the Sonic mechanics so much that they aren't recognizable as Sonic games.

I think if there were more Sonic games that didn't depart as much from the original popularized elements while still taking advantage of new technology, that there wouldn't be this much Sonic hatred. But, as many people have stated, as long as the games move copies, they'll keep being made.

I think a blender would be much easier, although we may need to kill him first, to stop the ole' erratic movement

Yes, which means that you like the old games. So this is not a good, new sonic game, it is the collection of the good Sonic games. This doesn't count.

I'm probably going to be the only one to say this, but I enjoyed the Sonic Unleashed Demo and do plan on buying the game once I have the money.

And I have to say I am looking forward to this game as well. Not as much as I was for Unleashed but still I am looking forward to it a bit.

Finally, someone who actually likes the game, and doesn't hate it because of a werehog.

The reason why it got F grades is because of the Werehog, I agree the werehog was a bad IDEA, But they made the gameplay playable.

Sonic depends on speed

Right, I read the article and basically he said Sonic should not be the werehog because he needs speed. Yes this is true but the werehog doesn't they added a new gameplay element to a game that has been the same for over 18 years, Don't you think it's about damn time?
This I do not agree with, The controls were not clunky and the levels weren't that slow paced.
The medals : I got all of the sun medals in one try and it took me atleast one or two tries to the moon medals, Either he isn't that good at spotting them with the corner of his eyes or he isn't good at adventuring OR he was just so ready to bash on the game that he wanted to get straight through the level.
