borderlands is one of those gems that falls below the radar and becomes a cult classic. Borderlands story (or lack there of) follows mercenaries in search of a vault of money, tech and whores. the lack of story is not a problem as the gameplay is superb, its reminiscent of games that are games and not pretensious and story driven. the graphics aren't pretensious either they are comicesque but pretty. the characters are great the robot at the start cracks me up. But the guns are what this is for, with loads to collect it becomes almost like a pokemon game trying to search for those rare and powerful ones. seriously this game is not to be missed and is very addictive.

Everyone I know is playing it, when did it go under the radar?
I'm not joking when I say I have 6 people on my xbox friends list playing it, and 3 on my steam list at the moment

Falls under the radar? I asked in two stores and both said it sold out on launch! I had to buy a second hand copy which was actually a new copy.

I'm not convinced. Why should I shell out £26 for a "robot that cracks me up" and a game "like a pokemon game"? Seriously man, if you're going to try and sell me a game, try harder.

I found the "RPG" gameplay extremely shallow and the combat very repetitive. It's a mediocre game and probably isn't worth more than $30.

Def not under the radar. Guess you werent on the escapist forums for the couple of weeks before the launch and few days after. Every other post was about borderlands. Plus there are even commercials on networks such as adult swim and comedy central so its hard to fall under the radar in that respect. Maybe if you don't play video games or live under a rock it was under the radar, seeing as you don't have a radar.

But anyways, it is a really good game and probably will be a GOTY contender on a lot of different sites but I don't think it is the best game of the year. For shooting elements I think that has to go to Uncharted 2 which was a great game. And it also doesn't have the best RPG elements either as that would go to Dragon Age: Origins which is absolutely awesome. However the fun factor is undeniable and thats why it was the best selling game on Steam last week (even beating out L4D2 haha).

Whores?

And here I thought that Lilith was searching for more Sirens, and Mordecai was after a dude named Yujinny, and Brick was looking for his sister.

Don't tell me that they're all whores!

Indeed, my Live dashboard has been a blur of red and yellow all week too.

I agree with the OP though in that the game is awesome. Well worth getting and my personal choice for game of the year so far.

Most of the people who describe the vault say whne you find it you'll receive "Weapons, richs, and women".
Spoiler for the ending.
Did anyone else feel ripped off by the ending?

Agreed, amazing game, truly (I own it for PC and 360) but it's not under the radar, not by a long shot.

It's a box on the planet Pandora. Just sayin' ;)

It's underrated here. Out of 22 students studying video games, TWO of us got it. Our lecturer has an excuse and is going to get it at a later date, but the students? Damn, man! TWO!

We have no idea what the other twenty did in the Reading Week after it came out.

I saw an advert for it on TV not more than 2 hours ago, so under the radar definately not. Not really into multiplayers that much so...maybe I will, maybe I won't. Far more interested in dragon age and assassins creed 2 at the moment. I would say mass effect 2 aswell but that at least 3/4 months away. A combination of those 3 games is definately spelling DOOM for my coursework haha
