One day they'll find 4chan and then, chaos.

2012 is doomsday, its the year Fox discovers 4chan, and the world is divided with Conservative religous morons Vs. Everybody else.

To be fair, they already tried something on Anonymous once
although I dread to imagine how they would pan \b\. I know it can be awful sometimes, but the point is completely free expression. I know it's a bit off topic, but the internet allows for this.

It sounds like the pedophiles are trying to... force their way into our world.
Yeah, everybody to the lifeboats! Women and men first, children go to the unmarked vans with tainted windows >>
The more I think about it, the more I start to suspect that Fox isn't doing this out of some need for more readers/viewers, but rather because the thought that some people don't fit into the ideal lifestyle the author had in mind bothers him...

I saw it was FOX News, clicked the link and immediately face-palmed after the first few paragraphs.

Somebody needs to blow up the FOX News headquarters.

Shit, get the FBI! You call the FBI for prank calls, right?

I just hope they listen before I wind up dead from an over-exposure to sensationalism.

Don't worry, you won't die from sensationalism overdose, you'll just become one of them.

The whole time I was reading that I was going "What." [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FlatWhat]
For those avoiding tv-tropes for the sake of conservation of time, I will simply quote it.

"Then, there's this trope:

* "What." You've just been witness to something so bizarre, so eye-crossingly stupid, that your brain no longer has the cognitive faculties to put together a more articulate response. "

It summarizes my reaction quite well, actually.
Or, you know, if you don't want to get sucked in by the TvTropes vortex [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TVTropesWillRuinYourLife] :p

Actually, in making that quote, I was sucked in.
I only just escaped.

I'm just going to have to stop because I can't type anything without becoming very personal and I really don't feel like getting banned over this. However, you seem rather intolerant towards my feelings on the subject. I just find it ironic. Demanding tolerance will being intolerant..
Au contraire, emotional one. I have no problem tolerating your feelings. However I do have a problem with what you preach and your intellectual standpoint when they are so blatantly based on feelings and little else.

Because regardless fo what we feel, feelings are inherently stupid. Feelings are what makes people put aside intellectual thought, and go form more irrational actions. And since we're talking about a problem that affects several societies, and a problem that won't go away unless we tackle it with intelligence and reason, I feel somewhat obliged to inform people when their opinions and actions have more basis in their subjective feelings towards the subject rather than facts, reason and intelligence. Otherwise, I might as well not care at all about the problems of paedophilia or the children who become victims of child molestation. If I don't have any intention to do anything to help solve the problem, then holding on to an opinion on the matter wouldn't be anything more than egotistical and narcissistic self-righeousness.

Thus, I find it relevant to inform others when their actions and reasoning ultimately help to sabotae solutions and hel perpetuate the problem, and as of now your emotional and guilt-ridden standpoint does nothing in the slightest to either help the victims of child molestation, nor does it anything to help paedophiles cope with their destructive urges. And yes, I say "guilt-ridden" because I think that you take the matter on a rather personal level due to the fact that you seem to be pretty close with someone who was a victim of child molestation.

It would be very understandable if you somehow feel that if you were to form a more neutral and less extreme opinion of paedophilia as a phenomenon, then you would somehow "betray" the person you say was a victim of child molestation. That you as a friend (or perhaps just as a human being) are obliged to treat the matter with a vengeful and utterly intolerant way for that persons sake.

And in truth, that person might very well feel that you should act the way you act and feel the way you feel (due to the trauma and profound grief he or she might feel from bad experiences in the past), perpetuating the anti-intellectual standpoint even further.

BUT remember this, that victim would then be basing his or her opinions as much on feeling than thought as you are. And since I've managed to establish exactly how destructive it is to refuse to deal with this particular problem intellectually rather than emotionally, I think you can see how both the victims and your own dealing with the situation isn't really for the better.

So it's not really an issue of ME having problems being tolerant towards your emotions (I can't really do anything about them myself, apart from killing you that is, which I don't feel particularly inclined to do for various reasons). It's rather a question of the fact that YOU SHOULD BE MORE INTOLERANT towards the fact that you let your own irrational feelings cloud YOUR OWN judgement and intellect in regards to this particular topic, due to the fact that you probably don't wish to see people being victims of child molestation.

To summarize: feelings do not solve anything. Feelings are just a consequence that more often than not make people reason and act completely irrational. And im sorry, but with this particular problem, only rational reason, understanding and intelligence will have any hope of solving it.

It's like with a broken down car engine you see. Raging against it and spreading your contempt of the broken car engine will not help to fix it. You have to calm down an try to find out why the car engine won't start and act accordingly...
