We like the idea of killing people who want to commit genocide....

Why would we get tired of it?
Stop genocide with more genocide... BRILLIANT!
Ok that came out wrong......

What I'm saying is that they personafie evil. So we have no problem with killing them. Is it justified? The HELL if I know. I just like killing them!

Just to be clear. I like killing them in games.

I have, I don't know about the rest of us though, cause it's a bit hard to find a real life enemy on the same level as the Nazis.

We Americans have been killing Nazis since before our involvement in World War 2 even started, and we haven't quit since. We kill them in books, movies, and of course video games. We Americans have been programmed to hate and want to kill Nazis for over 60 years, I'm just starting to wonder if we'll ever tire of it?
2 words: HELL NO!!!!

What are you some kind of Nazi Sympathizer!?!?! *Cocks Shotgun* We don't take kindly to them there Genociding folk

XD all joking aside, No.

Nazis have been signified as a universal enemy for a good reason and unless we have some new even more powerful organized force to deal with ruled by a facist dictator then the Virtual Nazi body count will continue to rise.

They won't let us forget what 'heroes' they are any time soon.
As an American I may be biased, but: arguable imperialistic tendencies =/= genocide of six Million Jews and Poles.

Wow. I actually put "billion". That would've been the world's population....

Isn't that why Medal of Honor died way back when and Call of Duty went to Modern Warfare? I'd say that, as gamers at least, we're done.

But the fact is, it's not even a matter of killing Nazis. World War II is the last war in which America was boldly fighting for not only their own good, but the good of others as well. Sure, it took us selfish pricks until we got attacked to help out, but the point is that once we entered the war it was a justified and right move. Most modern conflicts don't have quite the moral assurance that one did (despite more questionable events like Hiroshima). Thus, it makes for the most heroic war stories.

One day our society will probably get so pathetically politically correct that there will actually be an Anti-Nazi Defamation League protesting the depiction of its political ideology in games or movies. ><'

Still, I don't even really think of it as killing Nazis. Maybe because I don't see any difference between the average (key word being average) soldier on any side of a conflict. They're all just people being sent to fight by the ruling class of their homeland, regardless of whether they share the same political ideals. [/overly political comment]

Seriously, though, I think the only time the term 'Nazi' entered my mind while playing CoD5 was in the Nazi Zombie mode, and even then I was more focused on the zombie part. They could be replaced with any generic enemy combatant and the experience would be the same for me. I guess we're all just desensitised to Nazis, the same way we are to robots and zombies and 'terrorists'. Game developers go with them because they require the least thought on our part, by which I mean we're more likely to instantly accept them as the enemy without questioning their motives, right?
Pretty much this.
Its easy for a Developer to say "Here are Nazis, they are the bad guys", and everyone else just go "OK!"
It is overused but, its just so easy to overuse.

not even after killing them when their already dead (nazi zombies).
But no probably never, although i see it that they should be hating more on the japanese more than the nazis since the japanese were actually the ones who did attack america...These games must have russian developers then.
Its the same amount of hate to the Taliban....probably the Taliban more....wait, How many games were made about people killing nazis compared to people killing Taliban or terrorists?

i don't think it's the people here that are nazi crazy, but rather the media. if u were to randomly ask people what their favorite game is and why, odds are that the reason wouldn't be "well, i like killing nazi's soooo..." the media is pushing these games that focus on stuff like that, and so we play em without giving real thought about it.

Well that's because the people who fought that war were Heroes!
Jesus insult the military more?

However politically speaking I do admit we are quite sinister....I want in on it Bwahahahaha >:D POWER I DEMAND IT!!!

All joking aside, that was the last war where the American Military had full support from it's citizens.....Unlike 'Nam and this one e__e

This just proves that the more society is divided on the cause for fighting the more likely the military will probably fail.

If anything It's like the Human equivalent to a Demon in Devil May Cry!
Or "Dante" killing a Demon in Dante's Inferno

No negative consequences for killing a demon other than more of the little bastards show up in its place. So yeah An enemy the whole world can agree that is evil.

You know we have been killing zombies (or undead in general) and demons (or evil spirits) in stories, then books, then radio, then movies, then video games since basically the dawn of man.

They are personifications of basic fears.

Nazis have become the personification of more political fears. Evil government. Until someone tops them, I just don't see them going away any time soon.
