As an agnostic, I'd have to say it depends whether god is a product of humans or humans are a product of god.

Either we are one of His projects or he is one of ours. In either case, God or "god", might very well survive.

And who exactly would derive a serious philosophical discussion from? I'm tired of people who have heard three of their songs and look at Pete Wentz and claiming that Fall Out Boy is the worst thing to hit the face of the planet. I'm not saying they're the best thing ever but come on guys get over it.
Not to act like a judgmental asshole who only cares about appearances or anything, but would you rather listen to these guys:

or these guys?:

I rest my case.
...What is your case exactly? Both bands look like tremendous tools.

And to contribute: God would only "go down with the ship" if we were the only boat on the water. Lotta other planets out there. I think the old boy will be just fine.

In my personal agnostic based opinion God only exist if there are people to believe in him. Therefore, if no one survives the end of the world then yes, God will go down with his ship, the ship being Earth.
That isn't necessarily an agnostic belief, is it? If you're agnostic, you're saying you can't prove God does or doesn't exist. I am convinced God doesn't exist. However, I do believe it's impossible to prove that is the case. After all God is basically magic, something that falls outside of science and therefore by definition cannot be scientifically proven to not exist. I know some believers are convinced God exists, obviously, and "feel" that he exists, which is proof to them.

I agree with your statement: once the Earth ends... whatever that means, once everybody is dead and all records of God are gone, he ceases to exist, since he is a human invention. Well, I guess there are ways of going back into the past to reconstruct things, but that's making things to complicated.

God lives and dies based on worship. No life, no worship, dead God.

Say God does exist in some form. What if He/She/It exists only because people believe in It? What if the existence of a God is fueled by the combined power of the faith of Its followers?

If that were the case, then yes, God would go down with the world, if there are no survivors that worship the given deity.

This is, of course, assuming he doesn't have people or other species on other planets..

No. If he does exist, then in all truth, he hates us. He'll have some fun killing us, then later, once he gets bored again, he'll make a new creation and have fun with that one for a while.

*Hiss* quoting from 'Those Who Should Not Be Listened to' is forbidden! Forbidden I tell you!

OP: I don't believe in God so I guess....No?

Well, given that in most all world religions the being or beings worshipped as God/god/gods (deities) are, for the most part, beyond the conception of mere mortals such as ourselves, I doubt they would fall victim to whatever brand of utter destruction you believe to be our imminent destiny.

However, and this goes beyond whatever feelings you may or may not feel for Fall Out Whatever, the notion does evoke a certain curiosity. Certainly your chosen deity (or mine, praise be unto his noodley goodness) has the capacity to avoid catastrophe, but the greater question is would he/she/it? In good conscience, can a creator abandon his/her/its creations in favor of his/her/its own survival?

According to Ragnarok, pretty much ever Aesir and Venir go down with the ship, leaving only a couple humans behind, like the Garden of Eden. Which will then turn into civilization, and await Ragnarok again, and then be destroyed and survive.

It's a cycle, the world can't die, so, the gods can't die.

Genesis 19:24-26 said:
Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah-from the LORD out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all those living in the cities-and also the vegetation in the land. But Lot's wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
I think God, should he exist, will do the sinking.

I've been meaning to ask you this for a while now... is your avatar as picture of John Noble as a woman?

On topic... think of God as a human compared to an ant. If an anthill gets caught in a deluge, or burned through the antics of a less mature "deity", the god in that equation is fine.

But if you tend to think of god(s) as the sum of human emotion, or some New Age mumbo jumbo like that, then yes, God would die with our world.

I can't imagine anyone saying yes to this question. The universe is (supposedly) God's creation. Did you die when your mother threw away your macaroni art in kindergarten?

I dont keep up with modern music much - who are them bunch of spods? That girl at the front left looks ruff.. a real 15 pinter.

To the op: i will indulge your philosophy. I think god will pack up his bags and head home from work - having finished his experiment for the day. he will give mrs god a big hug and say hi to the kids, he will read the paper for a bit.. maybe watch the god chanel on the telly. have his dinner and go to bed. tomorow there will be a new universe to create.
