To be honest I don't think any of this was to do with whining or being entitled. I think it may just be a debate of if it's in danger of becoming the next DNF.j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:Oh for goodness sake! Half-Life fans get so whiny and entitled?
How exactly Half-Life is outdated? It's story is still the most mature, well thought and rich in detail alien invasion scenario, both in games and more traditional means (books, movies). Graphics are not top notch anymore, but they still aren't bad looking (in HL2, but HL1 is still playable and fun) - what's more, quality and climate of locations makes up for this easily. Also, HL3 was never teased by Valve, they never postponed it, they never released anything from it - it remains in production as long as it is necessary to perfect it, just like it happens with other Valve games (and note, that Valve had never released a bad game - and even studios like BioWare can't say that about themselves)jamiedf said:i cant see it being anything that good, because half-life itself is really outdated now, they cant present anything too knew or people will whinge its not a half-life game, but if they dont change anything people will whinge they waited so long for nothing, so the game isnt going to be great, but if they ever do release it, it will probably be welcomed much more then duke regardless of what they do
the mechanics are outdated, first person shooter with physics!. its nothing special any more seeing as every developer and their nans have used similar mechanics. graphics- matter of opinion so not really going to comment on that but i never thought the game really looked that good, admittedly this didnt really take anything away from gameplay but still, the over use of the same textures and models was noticeable.theriddlen said:Half Life 3 (obviously there won't be EP3) is not exactly same as DNF. First of all, it's development cycle was much shorter than DNF. Secondly, it was never hyped by the developer, throughout all these years Valve never released any screens or bits of info. The last thing is Valve itself - it's a fairly small studio (in terms of amount of people), and can not develop many IP's at one time - Portal and L4D franchises took most of it's manpower in last years, however right now they are working on only two known projects, and that's DOTA 2 and HL3. Also, let's not forget that unlike DNF dev, they released games in the meantime, and every single time it is success both in terms of revenue and game quality.

Huge anticipation for a sequal to a game that was not as good as everyone seems to make out.maturin said:Maybe, if you can name a single similarity that isn't stupid.
