I would be more likely to buy a PS3 for Flower, or Noby Noby Boy.

Much more likely for a Team Ico game.
As a PS3 owner, I agree. I can't imagine 360 owners getting a ps3 just to play another shooter even if it was as good as the top 360 shooters, and as I haven't tried it yet, I'm not even convinced it will be.

If I didn't already have one, I would've picked up the ps3 for weird little PSN titles like Noby Noby Boy & echochrome and (though I wasn't too excited at first) big 'made for HD' games like God of War 3.

I would buy a ps3 for a few games only:

-Another Twisted Metal game
-God of War 3 (whenever the hell that is supposed to come out)
-A new Rune: Viking Warlord (yeah, i enjoyed it, so what?)

It looks good, but no. No single game is worth the price of a console.
Games are not worth the Console

The Console is worth the Games

Not after a 7/10 in Edge! (controversy alert! WOOOOOAAAAAAHHH etc etc) But seriously, no, a many others have said 1 exclusive title is not enough to make me buy a new console.

I don't think killer apps really sell the console alone, they push people over the edge that were previously considering it but weren't completely satisfied by the game selection or maybe were deciding between two consoles and the game was the decisive factor.

However I don't think KZ2 is such a massive addition to the PS3's library (I mean it has CoD4 and such, right?) that it'll push many over the edge.

"No shooter would ever sell me a system on its own."

That was my point. Splinter Cell did that.

My apologies as I read your post wrong, you said sell you a system rather than sell a system. My mistake but you didn't have to be such a jerk about it...

I was considering putting my PS3 on the market because Killzone 2 wasn't the single definitive PS3 title that would cement the console's reputation as a gaming machine, rather than a glorified DVD player, but then I got Kung Fu Panda on Blu-Ray, so I needed to keep it around.

For Killzone 2? No, thank you. I didn't like it a bit on the PS2 (I have never understood why it was so famous and ground-breaking. I couldn't even jump!) and although it looks very nice, meh.

Now God of War 3, that's another story. I'm a huge Kratos fanboy. Bought the first, loved it, bought the 2 as soon as it arrived to good ol' Portugal stores and got the PSP one. That one MAY make me buy a PS3 once it's cheaper. Much cheaper.

There is only one game that would ever make me want to get a PS3 but that wont happen so I am lost to my thoughts

Killzone was nice but the second one nah. Maybe Killzone 2, God of War III and the third installment of Kingdom Hearts (oh wait), Ratchet and Clank also.

I'd have to win the lottery as well.

I just thought of something: Why are you only asking Xbox owners?
Is this supposed to be a "hurr hurr now my console is better" thread, or is it just because of the similarities between the two?

If you are casual(either hard or soft) you don;t need more than 1 but as a real gamer there are maybe at best 4 or so games on each system worth owning, thus in order to have all the worth while games you have to buy all the systems.

If you don't care or don't have the money your stuck with marginalized quality. It was not as bad last gen when the industry made games geared to enthusiasts(what was once called the hard core gamer), now adays its all casual focused either to the lite/non gamer of the brain dead hardcore game consumer....
So to be a real gamer, I have to invest like 800 dollars and buy a Wii and PS3? In that case no thanks, I'd rather be a fake, soft-core gamer.

That reeks of No True Scotsman.
No no it just means you are a consumer like any other. :p
Is that a stupid consumer? Because that's just a waste of money.
And anyway, who says there are four good games per console? I haven't seen anything on the PS3 or Xbox 360 I want, except maybe Crackdown. So am I not a hardcore gamer?
'Cause I still spent all night playing...

No your a casual gamer, that's not a bad thing persay but it means your expectations and taste for quality is lower.

Lost oddessy, Blue dragon, Halo ep 3, I could probably name 3 or 4 more games I would be willing to spend 20$ish on but as far as great games I dunno Lost oddessy is one there are at least 2 more I would pay full price for but for the msot part this gen has shtty over priced games on all systems.

I mean I can name abotu as many for the PS3 most of which I would be hard pressed to give more than 20 a pop for, now teh WII has Mario,Zelda and Metroid that I would be willing to shell out 50$ a pop for even if they mixed quality.

Being a game nazi/enthusiast drives the demand for high quality sometimes to the point of unreasonableness.

The trouble is this gen amkes it ahrd on real gamers because the industry shifted from quality to mass market development which pushes down quality on all titles making most of them far more causal/simplified/rushed/unpolished/buggy.

I eqaute the game industry to the music industry it churns out safe bland generic stuff so the publishers can stay in money while they chrun out stuff constantly and since the largest publishers are partnering up we are going to see even more mixed quality and shovelware as they figure out the old attage quality sales...not just the appearance of quality.

ZippyDSMlee said:
So quality has never been better and prices nothing for the quality you get on a game to game basis...... ballocks.... quality is down, shine and cost is up and the consumer never more woolly.
Non Sequitur. I called your comment about how real gamers must own all systems because they don't find more than 4 games on each a No True Scotsman argument because you define your category by how closely a person obeys your claim. The common definition of a gamer is one who plays games. A real gamer is one who really plays games. You can't tell me everybody who plays games only sees 4 good games on each console, if that were the case we wouldn't see tie-in ratios of 6-8.
Ya so? I might have over stated bit I suck at words but if you are happy with the current industry then you are a casual gamer or a hard core gamer that has money to blow on ever other game released....

Note: I said "GOOD" games..... not medicore watered down for the casuals stuff....

Let me dig self abit further in and refine my statement a real gamer a "enthusiast" aims to own all the systems so they can have all of the best games not just spam their collection with generic crap.

As far as I care most gamers are casual even the supposed hardcore ones that are only richer, since the industry changed to disposable mass market media production statistically you are going to have a consumer market that's half filled with ....casuals like the music industry...like the film industry... it dose not negate the ability of quality in the media industry it just lowers the chances of true quality and polish in individual products.

No, it looks good, but not good enough to make me buy a Ps3. I dont know if there will ever be a game on PS3 to make me buy one.

Final Fantasy XIII was my big must have that was going to sell a PS3. Maybe Versus XIII will, if it stays exclusive, but we'll see about that. Like I said, a Final Fantasy VII remake would instantly sell a PS3 for me. And no matter what you think of FFVII, you all know that it would be an automatic buy for more than just me.

Beyond that, when it gets a price drop, I will pick up the console for God of War III and the few titles I felt I was really missing out on that weren't already on the 360. Ratchet and Clank... Uh... I had a list of others... Can't remember them. But that new God of War footage was sheer sex.
