With todays gaming technology, what older gaming series' would you like to see brought back?

The source port makers have done a remarkable job, all things being considered, but i'd like something on the level of Doom 3 but without the pathetic attempts at being scary. I just want pure genocidal fun with all of Hell's minions in glorious modern technology. I have many games that attempt to fill this niche, but I always feel a little empty inside when I don't get to shoot at giant flying tomatoes, disembodied flaming skulls and pyromaniac monkeys.

X-COM! (Not the crappy "Aftermath" games which were suppose to be the "spiritual" successor)
Both were tactical squad based games from quiet a ways back. For those of you who don't know of them I guess the closest new game would be Dawn of War 2 the Single Player Campaign, what you setup going into battle was all you had. Cause if you have played DoW2 you know MP is NOTHING like SP. Oh an unlike DoW2 when your guys died they were DEAD! No revive during or after missions you had to get new guys. So "leveling" actually meant something. It meant you were good enough to keep them alive for a LONG time.
Though on a plus side it seems people are making some what of a return to the more tactical based combat in RTS. Though I really hate how they pretend it's a NEW idea to have the smaller tactical combat with less focus on Resources. I can think of over half a dozen games of the top of my head from a decade ago that were like that and were pretty popular.

EDIT - heh, whoops, my bad. I saw the "3" and ignored the parentheses. And agreed, a remade FF6 would be awesome. I don't think they will, since the Advance port came out right around the time the DS came out. Which sucks; I'd love to actually play FF6 since I've heard so much about it.
