As I said in another thread: Rooting for England, expecting Spain to take it all, tho.

Mostly I want to see Ronaldo lose, tho.

And the horns sure are annoying, oh, and dangerous to health, aren't they?
On the bright side, if Henri has to use his hands to cover his ears he's less likely to score.
Ha, yeah, pretty much.
I'm guessing you're not too happy about it either, are you?
Too ture. I was watching that France v Ireland match. I even started a thread about it here, thought it was utterly appaling and proof that the crusty old dinosaurs running FIFA need to introduce video replays.

I'm very pumped about it, just like everyone else here in Germany seems to be. Normally I don't care about football, but this is different.
Stupid Germany. I've been preparing for the World Cup by playing through the 'International Cup' on PES with all the major teams, and the only one I can't win with is Germany. It's infuriating.

Of course, the designers leaving Ballack and Schweinsteiger (Sp?) out of the squad hasn't helped much...

Oh no! Whatever will we do without Beckham?! Who will strike poses and wear women's clothing for our squad now? We're DOOOOOMED!

That said, the USA did beat Spain's A-team not all that long ago. Since that horrifying game against Japan, I'm just not putting any faith in England. They're ranked 5th worst in the tournament, and we only beat them because they scored two own goals. What the hell, England?
Do you happen to have a link to the overall World Cup team rankings?

Oh, and Germany will win ;)
Germany have been entertaining to watch in the last couple of tournaments. I like them and root for them nowadays (though thier early 90s team was horrible to watch...bloody divers!)

Of course, watching the SA/Mexico game now and loving how Mexico playing attacking minded and risky even if they are having trouble finishing.

Hope England win, we can beat any team on a good day, have a great manager and some of the best players in the world but being realistic I think most we can hope for is a semi final loss on penalties(probably to the bastard Portuguese). Also if Hesky gets a start tomorrow I'll loose even more faith. Would love to see a game versus the Argentinians though.

Don't think SA will get past the group stages to be honest and whoever decided those horns were a good idea needs to be shot in the face.

EDIT: All that being said brilliant goal from SA just there

First of all, I demand that someone creates the Escapist Football Group (or at least World Cup group), because that would be sweet.
Second of all, yeah, I never got that one either. Why, in the holy name of everything, can't you include video replays? What sort of frozen, small-minded brain would refuse to take out the element of referee mistakes, because that's sort of what kills football in my country.
Because of stuff like that I don't watch football that much anymore. At least in F1 (my new favourite "sport", hello) everything is fair. Mostly everything. [http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns22275.html]

I would pay money to see the USA win the world cup just to see the worlds reaction.

But that will never happen and even if it did around 5 or 6 Americans would know/care

I don't know much about it, but my art teacher just changed her relationship status to single and when asked why, she said it's the world cup and her husband has gone missing...is anyone feeling like that?

It really is awful.

It sounds like an army of elephants playing didgeridoos.

Afraid not chum, the '5th worst in tournament' was just something I read in the paper, from a sports correspondent trying to get the point across that England are not going to win the World Cup..

I really don't understand the hysteria that crops up every four years. We English are some of the most cynical people in the world, and yet when the World Cup comes around again we throw it all out the window and try to convince ourselves that we might win. We won't. We don't win things. We're always lose to cheats like Argentina or Portugal, or we go out on penalties to the Germans in a semi-final. It's a national tradition!

I don't really care about the World Cup. People in England get really worked up about it and it's all over the media. It starts to get pretty annoying. So I hope England get knocked out early, so everone will shut up about it.
I'm with you there, although i'm actually also wanting to see tv presentors cry.

Well, yes I am quite excited about the World Cup, though I hope we win (I am from Argentina), Spain is in my mind the team with more chances.

EDIT: Well I was sure that Mexico would have an easy ride... I was wrong

Still good from technical aspect, but Lennon or Wright-Phillips have more pace and to me are better options for the wings.
