Hi, I have been playing World of Warcraft for about 5 years now. Recently I have come under some strife about playing it from my school mates. Now I understand people hate it, but I don't understand quite why. Also I personally love it. I love it because the world is fun to explore and there are some people on there that are pretty awesome. So my question to you, Escapist, do you love or hate World of Warcraft?

I played a trial game of it, hopeful of something fun and wary of the addiction thing, but halfway through my free week I just became... Bored with it. There wasn't anything interesting going on, no story; just quest after quest and weird people hitting on my female night elf warrior. And I went back to Diablo 2 <3

I've been playing for 5 years, and i loved it...and then it's just become "meh"

I play for friends now, mostly my girlfriend. Who is really stubborn and its difficult to get her into other things.

However its the stories of WoW players that people see...that's usually why you catch shit. If they've played it though, at least recently...of course they'll hate it 1-70 is the worst, annoying, retard filled grind in the universe now. Cata is addressing that problem though.

I love the game itself, but I absolutely hate]/b] that monthly fee. Not because I hate paying for playtime. But because I don't want to pay for a entire month when I just feel like playing it an hour or so for a few days.

I played it for 4 years(off and on). The thing that killed me for it was the actual expansion packs and not being "hardcore" enough to get into a "good" guild. I hit 58 before the first expansion pack. Went to outland...got bored very fast. Hit 65 extremely slowly then totally lost interest because the need for more time/guild is a total 100% requirement. No more thoughts of "oh I'll just log, drop those spleens off i collected, check out BG's, check my professions and then log to go do something else". You can't really get anywhere without a guild, and puggin raids usually end up horrible.

Thats why i dont play/hate it.

I love the more recent content, Classic was garbage(I don't care how many people ***** about "Vanilla/Class was better hurderrrp!!!1", you just had a better experience there, it wasn't better content), Burning Crusade was great and Wrath was just the highlight of the series so far.

I personally can't wait for Cata to refresh all the old world zones.

I played the trial. It was fun enough and the graphics had a sort of charm to them, but as is usual in any multiplayer experience that I've had, the other people in the world completely bricked it for me; to the long time veterans of the game, I have only one word to say and that really should be 'nuff said.

Goldshire.

So in answer: Liked the game, hated the people. Indifferent.

I disliked my attempt at getting into WoW but I understand why other love it even if I really feel a part-time job with negative salary is kind of a waste...

I used to love WoW back before BC, but that was mostly because RP servers actually had roleplaying communities in them, which have steadily been killed off in the expansions for some reason, that and raiding back then was more fun. Sure, it was harder to organise for the big raids because you needed a lot more people (40 as opposed to 25), but fighting through an instance with that many people is a whole heap of fun.

Also, world PvP was awesome pre-BC. It doesn't seem to happen any more because everyone at the level cap spends time in Dalaran. Nothing is more fun in WoW than getting a huge mass of people together and storming into one of the enemy faction's cities.

To be honest, I think WoW lost a lot of the fun "dicking around" that used to go on. I don't really hate it now, I've just become pretty bored with it.

Love it and hate it. It's brilliantly put together - the most pro MMO I've ever seen, and it does fascinate me, but only for a while. I play for a month or so every few months, then I drift away from it again. My highest level character is 52 (I think) and that's after 2 years of on/off play.

I'm very tempted to get back into it one more time before Cataclysm. Otherwise I'll never see so much of the game, and that saddens me.

I do not care for it. I dont hate it, I have played it and sunk an entire month into it, it just never took me as the kind of game I would enjoy, endlessly grinding my way up to a better pair of magically enhanced pants.

I got the trial and hit the level cap for that (20) in about 8 hours.

I would get if I had the money, just because I have a void in my life I need to fill and WoW seems like just the thing. :D
