Maybe because the first took place in a jungle and this one takes place in New York that makes you feel its generic.
True. The city of New York is somewhat...overused in games these days.
Hmmmmmmmm I don't recall New York being used that much in games, only in movies.

It looks like a slightly more generic FPS, but if the Nanosuit is similar enough to the first game's model, this should still be mad fun.

Prototype is a recent one, Max Payne 1 and 2, Def Jam, Alone In The Dark, Turning Point, True Crime, XIII, Freedom Fighters, Indigo Prophecy and Deus Ex are some I can think of off the top of my head.

Plus, a lot of games like Infamous, GTA and Mafia use New York as a direct inspiration for their cities.

Although you're right, I suppose it isn't that much, relatively speaking.
*facepalm*

How could I have forgotten those games?
Well its probably, cuz I only played GTA and Infamous out of that list.

" . . .

The above "Official Recommended System Requirements" will not run the game on very high. To run the game at 30+ frames per second on very high the following is recommended.

* OS - Windows Vista
* Processor - A dual core processor 2.6 GHz or above
* Memory - 3.0 GB RAM
* GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 280 GTX or a Radeon HD 4870 X2 " - from : http://www.incrysis.com/wiki/index.php/Crysis_System_Requirements

:O

I ... damn, gotta buy a new computer...

I dont like Crysis very much, it lacked a descent story and was all linear, not that that's all bad, im just not a big fan of that. Im also pretty immune to all that 'OOH SHINEY GFX' anyway. Yes, it looks good but it just doesn't do anything extra for me. So it's just your average shooter to me that way.
Slap on an inventory system, some factions, more story and some possible weapon mods and you have a game i like more....i'll go play some STALKER now.
I doubt i'll get it when it gets out.

Actually, it's less intensive than the original, if rumours are to be believed.

OP: Looks good, if a wee bit more generic.

Still, bit too early to judge.
This was exactly my take as well. I suspect they put it on the city because it's far less to render than the jungle too. Far easier to make it look impressive on the consoles that way.

Not that I'm bitching, really. If it's fun, it's fun.

I wonder if there will be an option on the PC version to bring the graphics down to the same level of the consoles. It would make playing the game much easier for many people including myself.

Graphics look nice, but the actual gameplay looks dull and uninspiring. I'm not really interested all that much in the nanosuit, and the story just seems like average alien invasion schtick. I won't write it off completely, but I'm distinctly unimpressed considering how much this has been hyped.

Looks a tad generic, I'll admit. I'll try the inevitable demo, like I did with the first. The destruction physics look good though.

Hopefully I'll be able to get a six core AMD and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 250 in my pc before this releases. Because I really want to play this one.
Why get a GTX 250 they came out in 2008 since they are effectivly 9800 GTX's
I wrote 250, but I was thinking 275. Now that I look at it though the GTX 9800 my actually be a better card anyway.
? I'm confused why would you want to buy a 2 year old graphics card for a PC with a 6 core CPU
when you could get a Dx.11 ATi or Nvidia from 2010

Grab something like a 5830
Well the new Nvidia cards (GTX 480) cost around $500, I'm not spending that much on a gpu. That and I have absolutely no idea how ATi cards are classified by name.

Looks pretty good tbh. I never picked up crysis because it just didn't appeal to me, but this more urban setting looks like it'd be a rockin good time.

Semi-interested, but still need better judgment of gameplay.

Too bad most gamers won't be able to play it at those settings for several years or so.

It looks really pretty but not that new or revolutionary. I'll still probably buy it though.

It looks water-downed for the consoles, and I don't like the looks of the shotgun, but it reminds me of Mirrors Edge, so I'll buy it. Just to be a douche, I'm gonna point out that I wont need to upgrade my computer.
Me too. Because I'll buy it for 360.
Enjoy having half the graphical quality that I'll be seeing. :D
Enjoy missing the point of video games.
