School Days... I just hated every aspect about that show from start to finish... it was just made of atrociousness...
I think it was brilliant. Everyone should watch it and apply what they learn to real life.

MD Geist.

MD Fucking Geist

It's the worst pile of shit i've ever seen.

A lot of people in this thread are pointing to below average or slightly bad stuff like Evangelion or Elfenlied.

Those people know NOTHING of true pain.

MD Geist, i swear if i ever meet the person who masterminded your creation i shall murder them with a rusty carving knife.
You have a point, you know. It's just that a lot of people in this thread don't actively seek out horrible anime to watch, which is what you must have done if you willingly exposed yourself to MD Geist.

For those of us who aren't quite so masochistic, Elfen Lied and Evangelion are very likely to be our worst experiences, because they're well-known and terrible.

I've never really seen an outright awful anime before but I will say that the 4Kids versions of One Piece, YugiOh, Bleach and... well anything else is just terrible and needs to be destroyed.

Actually, just get rid of 4kids. They need to go away forever.
Didn't they filed for bankrupcy?

Pretty much any 'harem' style anime. Especially those related to Ken Akamatsu. You know, those shows where there's one guy and ten girls that beat him to a blood pulp every five seconds.

-Guy sees/accidentally touches girl's boobs and gets smacked.
-Girl trips or gets somehow lifted into the air and reveals a panty shot, then pummels the guy that sees.

HILARIOUS! Copy, Paste, shuffle some characters, get to work on fifty episodes.

I'm not really a fan of sexual humor to begin with, but these just get so tired so quickly. They are in every episode, of every series, based off of the comics that also have the same jokes, which generally extend much longer than the cartoons.
Now, far be it from me to get angry over what other people find entertainment in, everyone is perfectly entitled to enjoy whatever they like. One of the most beautiful things of the world is the ability to give my full focus solely to the things that I like while leaving people who enjoy the things that I do not to be happy just the same.

But if I hear anyone praise Love Hina or anything like it, I will burn your goddamn house down.

"D-Gray Man" I'd say.... 103 episodes of NOTHING!!!!
I agree. I think I mostly slept through the episodes I saw because I can't remember much about it.
The worst part? The final monster... I mean, seriously? What the heck was that? Winged Freeza with Boobs?
Ok, that does NOT count as a spoiler.

Tough question. I watch terrible/annoying anime for fun. I'm a person who likes to hate things. However, from my annoying anime binges I have found some pretty good anime... (Ouran High school Host Club!)

The worst ever though... would have to be.

I don't know what they were thinking, but that has to be the best description of it I've seen. I kinda want to look at it again with that description in mind.

There are some anime series which are crud because they're simply boring or the story is poorly written; the characters are uninteresting etc. But then there are some animes which are absolutely atrocious because of the message they send to their viewers.

There are 2 anime series I can think of off the top of my head which I think come from the Stephanie Meyer school of thought, where mistreatment is seen as a sign of affection!

1. Fushigi Yuugi. Absolutely terrible anime which has no qualms using rape as a plot device to split up the main couple. Ugh... There's plenty of other things wrong with it, but that stood out for me.

2. Itazura na Kiss. Another shoujo anime which depicts a girl who falls in love with a cold spiteful and dominating boy who taunts her, humilates her and then bizarrely marries her and pretty much treats her like crud. She gets all squee and excited when he shows even the barest minimum of affection and that kids, is what love is all about! Treat your wife like shit so when you decide you want to get your leg over she'll be begging for it just to know you still love her!

Seriously messed up message to be sending to teenage girls.

Course, there's always the really messed up stuff like Koi Kaze - which is an incest anime about a grown man 'falling in love' with his middle-school-attending sister. As if their falling in love wasn't off putting enough, the series ends with a sex scene... I mean comon... incest is a touchy subject at the best of times, but throw in peadophilia on top and then a sex scene... wut are you thinking, Japan?! LOL

Worst? Elfen Lied. I felt Elfen Lied to by everyone who ever told me to watch it. To this day I can't figure out who the target audience for that anime is. Good on ya if you felt your life was changed by it, but perhaps some soul searching is in order, because I can't imagine that anime changing anyone for the better. I say this because I actually saw comments like that all the damn time.

All that love for a show that was a blatantly lolicon anime that wanted so badly to be taken seriously, but still wanted to be a silly hentai. I guess this is what they mean when they say "you want to have your cake and eat it too." -- It just couldn't decide whether it wanted to be precocious or gloomy, so it just settled on awkwardly disturbing. This show so graphically handled child abuse, rape and gratuitous nudity that you couldn't in good faith tell me that you'd watch it in front of someone that you wanted to have any semblance of respect for you. I'm sorry, but no, suddenly growing your obviously underaged characters breasts too large for their age whenever they become (often inexplicably) naked does not mean that you have cleverly avoided being racy.

What's more, the show went so over the top with violence that by the end, any suffering on the part of the characters had no more gravity and thereby laid waste to what could have otherwise been touching moments...If not for the fact that I'd been so convinced that it would somehow get better at some point I would have never seen it through to the end...Not even for the admittedly beautiful background art and soundtrack... On that note, why was the character art and animation so shitty when the background art was so drop-dead-gorgeous? It's like they got someone with no knowledge whatsoever of human anatomy to handle the characters. Now, if I was going to make my underage characters naked THAT DAMN OFTEN I would have made sure to hire a team of animators that knew how to draw!

Whew, I feel better now.

That was actually really, really easy. I don't usually watch anime that I'm not entirely sure will be good, so I haven't really seen any bad ones asides from the one mentioned above. Sure, I miss out on a lot of good stuff with that attitude, but I am not a big enough fan of anime to care much. Usually it just means I'm really late to the party on the stuff that's good. That's more than worth it to avoid the worst of the worst.

The bold is the one i hate the most. I'll post more when I remember the rest.
If this is the worst you've ever seen then you have never, EVER seen a legitimately bad anime.
So...the ones I listed that I've seen and hated are not bad to me? So my opinion about them are wrong.

All the ones you listed have some redeeming qualities and can be enjoy by some people.

Some people. Not me. Didn't like them

Don't make the mistake of thinking i like any of the stuff you listed, but come on.

I was on the verge of hating anime. Casshern Sins changed that.

Try digging up some obscure low production value shows from the eighties like Devil Hunter Yohko or things of that kind.
I've seen it. I enjoyed that one actually

I've not watched many animes. And I'm still unsure as to what actually constitutes an anime in some respects, considering there are so many varieties (or not, depending on your own view).

But I shall say Panty and Stocking. I stumbled across that once and spent the entire day wondering what the fuck I had just watched.
