Emile from Reach

He got stabbed in the back with an energy sword and could still speak like nothing happened at all... All in all i had great hopes that the character emile would do something cool at the end but well..

Yeah, I eventually figured that I could find much, much worse...Like Maria from Silent Hill...
Woah woah, that was a symbolic re-inactment of Mary's death, a cruel mockery to James. This is why Pyramid Head is said to be born from his guilt, because he was reminding James of what he refused to admit. Besides, the fact that I felt sorry for a character I hated both times she died on-screen is a testament to how amazing that game's storytelling is.
None of that matters when you're scared shitless lol...Seriously who plays a survival horror game and stops to note that the Silent Hill Hospital Nurses symbolise James's fear of catching colds?
On a more serious note, this was a bad character death in my opinion only because she kept coming back: She came back in the Dungeon levels then she came back in the ending (which means she never died, I guess?). So in my humble opinion it's a diminishing returns kind of thing

NOTE: The "worst" qualifier I am going with is "most gruesome/unpleasant." Don't let me piss on the terribleness parade.

Matt in Fallout 2. Getting punched in half by Frank Horrigan, ughghgh.

I'm surprised noone mentioned the death of Wesker in RE5...
I didn't get to see the game form beginning to the end, but I caught that fight and, while it was intense in a way, all I could think about was, "wait... that's it?"

If I was to place another RE character I know.. probably Luis(methinks) from RE4, pretty much the over reaction Leon had right after also didn't help.

Oh and to compared with the example set by the OP, for some reason I'm remembering the beginning of a Robocop movie right now, the guy survives what? 7 close range shotgun shots and die when the main bad guy shoots him with a pistol?
Trust me, I was furious when Wesker got killed off in one of the lamest ways possible.
The main antagonist of the whole series gets killed by crappy RPGs? I mean, seriously?
He DESERVED so much better than that, seriously.

On a sidenote: I think that Chris Redfield is to the RE series what Charlie Sheen is to comedy - way overrated. Leon would've been much more suitable for "saving the day" (I'm a fanboy, I know!).

Sorry for the offtopic.
No, no. You went off topic to be sure, but it needed to be said. I too am for Leon Kennedy and against the Wesker death. He's WESKER! Maybe he's not even dead, maybe he's just waiting under the lava...just waiting...for...a better idea that Uroboros I guess (he won't be waiting long, lol)
Extreme offtopic:

I SINCERELY hope that Wesker somehow survived. Seriously, the most badass villain of all horror series (in my opinion at least) gets basically "cheapshotted", if such a word even exists.
On the other hand, I can guarantee you that I am looking forward to all upcoming installments in the RE series (both movies and games).
Personally, I'd like to see more of Leon. He's just the most badass character ever, considering he's merely human without "superpowers" and such.
To answer any future questions - yes, I am a huge "survival horror" fan.

Kat in Halo Reach

It was so undramatic and uninteresting. It was just like "wait, what just happened?"

It happened so fast that if you blinked you would have missed it.
.....yeah....speaking about blinking.

It differs in peoples games, but some of the deaths in Mass Effect 2 once you pass through the Omega 4 Relay kinda sucked.

Sure it might make sense for them to die from parts of the ship spearing through them (happened to Thane in mine), but it happens so quickly and we see only a second or so of them dying...so it's a bit sudden when/if they do die.

Salem/Rios: Army of two the 40th day.

You have to choose between killing your partner or killing the boss and dooming the city. If you choose to kill your partner the boss pushes the button anyway, you kill him and then it turns out there was never a bomb to begin with.

Thats just fucking cheap! Especially since they kill off the female side kick a level eariler for no reason other than to create quick drama (her helicopter gets shot down).

I know not alot of people care about the Army of two franchise but i had a bit of fun with the first game and so the end of the second really pissed me off.

Killing Williamson and the other guy in RDR. It was just so fast...

But it may have been trying to be realistic or poignant. In that case, I forgive it.
Given the game, I'd say it's going for realism. I would be disappointed in the game if it had some drawn-out, dramatic, over-the-top death for a couple of cowards. I'm also glad there wasn't a cutscene there. Well done, Rstar.

Kat's death was actually good, her getting a needle in the visor with her shields EMP'd just seemed like something that would happen in an actual war (suddenly getting killed with no warning). The cut-scene after was pretty good, too.

Carter's death and Jorge's death were better, though.

As for the worst death ever, probably dad from Fallout 3. What a pointless way to go, and he indirectly kills you because he irradiated the fucking control room (unless you have Broken Steel, then you wake up two weeks later).
Going out with a "fuck you world" is always fun :D

Hahaha!

As for the topic, Ian Kiley from G-Nome. It's pretty much the Jango Fett death scene of Video games.

Ghost dying! He was way too cool to die. If he had to die it should had been better than getting shot and burned.

Considering how fucking hard you have to work to kill Wesker at the end of RE5 (its a 4 part boss if you count the QTE movie) i don't think i'd call his death cheap. He was poisened, shot, kicked out of a plane, shot a whole bunch more, knocked into lava, and had to eat two RPG rounds in the face. Thats pretty awsome.

Now i agree that i hope he isn't dead. He was an awsome villian and one of the most fun end bosses i've fought in a long time.

First of all, the nurses were a punishment for getting attracted to the nurse that was caring for Mary. (Or so I hear.) Secondly, horror is all about invoking thought. Why can't these thoughts be both dread and literary exploration?
As for Maria's immortallity, despite the lagitimacy of your distaste, she could only complete her purpose once James got the message, and his denial was very strong.
Bah, whatever. Your comment about colds is proof that I'm wasting my time anyway.
