Years later, when you track him down as Jack Marston, you've finally got the chance to take your revenge. There's no gang of criminals to fight, no US marshals to evade. It's just you, Ross, a spit of land and a pair of revolvers.
And when you do it... That's it. You blast his brains out and it's over. No one throws you a parade, no one congratulates you on avenging John's death. Jack doesn't even smile, or show any signs of satisfaction whatsoever. You build this encounter up in your mind, but once you finally get there, you find out that all you're really doing is shooting some old man for a reason that nobody cares about except you.
It's the ultimate anti-climax. It's pretty brilliant, from a storytelling perspective, but as a gamer... Ouch. Twist the knife more, why don't you?
