I would have preferred him leaving similar to how Amber left. A case House failed to solve in time. But unlike Amber, he had a shot. If House was a matter of minutes faster with the diagnosis, Kutner would have survived. That would have fucked with his head a hell of a lot more.
It's a futuristic game. Asking how they EMP proof stuff is like asking how they can go into slip space. If you question those kind of things, you probably shouldn't play or watch anything to do with sci-fi.jurnag12 said:

I present you with the worst ever "shocking" ending a game writer can come up with: Archer and Kestrel.
Why?
Let's reach into the Taffers' hat and pull out her three favorite gaping plot holes that should have swallowed the writers while they were typing up the script.
The weakest one:
You bleed together, you form a bond. Not to question an order and just go ahead with something as drastic is unlikely. Especially for someone who comes from a none military background (Archer).
The more likely one:
Archer's profile gives him an Intelligence Analyst background; and apparently he had been doing a stellar job. Except, of course, for his disregard for authority and ending up butting heads with superiors constantly.
One of the major character traits of an Intelligence Analyst is the need to be brutally honest, no matter to whom, and stand by their decisions. Pair that with the slight lick of rebellious attitude, and his recent character development with Kestrel would prevent him to blindly carry out an order that is evidently wrong.
Shoot a Russian operative? Excuse me?
The best one:
Kestrel would remain in touch with his command center at any given time, considering the severity of the joint operation with the Americans. One would also assume that he has some sort of tracking equipment on his person (like the subdermals used by the Splinter Cells).

All that they wanted was to present the gamers with a "shocking" resolution. Well. There are means to pull that off without looking like utter dweebs.

Tai from GOW2 hes made out to be some unstoppable badass and the first thing he does when hes given a gun after you release him is paint the walls with his face. Surely you would want a bit of vengeance.

Oh and to compared with the example set by the OP, for some reason I'm remembering the beginning of a Robocop movie right now, the guy survives what? 7 close range shotgun shots and die when the main bad guy shoots him with a pistol?
