Some chump above thought they should suggest that Valve are the worst company ever.

In light of this blatant attempt to make me and other Valve-lovers rise to his bait I will suggest a controversial target of my own: BETHESDA

Yes! Bethesda are the worst company ever! Here's why:

-Firstly, and what really hurt me personally, Bethesda ruined the Fallout franchise. Killed it. Yes I know its commercially successful with a legion of fans but those are only the people too young and too gfx-worshiping to play the original games.

-Bethesda lack good ideas. Every idea/character/faction/plot element in Fallout:3 is a rehash of an idea from the original Fallout games. Can't even come up with their own bad guys. THEY EVEN COPIED MINOR ELEMENTS LIKE THE RANGERS FFS.

-The sheer sense of disappointment I feel after playing their games. Every game looks so good until you have played it for a few hours and the illusion is broken. Looking back I wish I had never bought Oblivion or Fallout3, I certainly regret wasting all that time getting to the end.

-Bethesda's writers are a bunch of talentless hacks.

-The end of Fallout 3. What a crock of sh!t.

-No amount of high-budget actors can save a poor plot.

-Oblivion is so shallow (in terms of plot and world design) it could be asserted that I have pissed deeper puddles around my own feet whilst drunk in town.

-Now they are going to make Fallout3:Las Vegas so that they can rip off the one thing they hadn't already stolen from Fallout2, namely the city of New Reno. This time around I won't be giving them my money.

This is me sticking my middle fingers up to the company that ripped me off twice - boy do I feel stupid. FU BETHESDA, FU!!!!
A. You point out Fallout 3 and Oblivion, but not the other Elder Scrolls games, or any other Bethesda game for that matter. Apparently 2 games signify a companies entire career.

B. You decide to rip on Game of the year Oblivion and Game of the year runner up Fallout 3, so they must have done something right with them to get that recognition.

C. I played the first 2 Fallouts, and I dont see how 3 ruined it. Just because you are one of the many ignorant people who think that if they make a sequel to an older game that its classified as shit without a second thought because its not "classic" like the old ones?

Worlds Inc. The worst, and most saddest piece of dung to ever be called a gaming company. I can't remember how it turned out, but they sued NCSoft over a patent for virtual worlds.
If you don't believe me on how SHITTY their stuff is, look at their website.

Ubisoft.

-They never test their damn games properly.
-They have no idea how to port games from one system to another.
-They completely fuck an original game over with a "sequel" that is in almost no way related to the original.
-They're selfish fucks.
-They don't bother to fix any problems with currently released games.
-They focus more on graphics than anything else.
-And they tend to just rip off as many ideas as they can from either their previous games, or currently existing ones.

So, first they change too much, and then they don't change enough?

Ok..., sounds like you just got tired of playing their games to me. Doesn't make them a bad developer, just makes you tired of the same old same old.

I suggest getting a beefy PC and modding the crap out of those games. (Especially Oblivion, Vanilla is unbearable after playing its modded counterpart).
I don't know man, no amount of mods can save Oblivion for me...maybe I'll forgive FO3 eventually, we will see. Just to clarify though I am firmly on the 'didn't change enough' camp.
Really no mods? No OOO mod? Not even Better Cities mod? The Lost Spires? Kvatch Rebuilt? RenGuardOverhaul? 28 Days(The most weird mod I ever played for Oblivion, Medieval zombie apocalypse goodness nom nom nom.)?The Gates of Aeesgard(or something)? Let the People Drink? Commun Oblvion?Unofficial Oblivon Patch? Babs? Choises and Consequences?Tamriel Travellers? Those combat enhancers mods which name I forgot?

Really none? :p

KOEI, for obvious reasons. Who's up for Dynasty Warriors 1100? (no, that's not the year....)
They always fail to evolve or innovate...anything.

A) Well I did admit that Bethesda aren't the worst dev ever. I will happily concede that Morrowind is a great game, apart from all the brown.

B) Who said they were 'game of the year'? Seriously, I want to know which publication/s thought that either of these games are even close to the best thing that was released in either 2008 or 2006 so that I can laugh at their poor judgement and in future avoid them like the plague.
To be frank, awards mean jack shit these days because there are so many mags and sites handing them out like condoms at the family planning clinic.

C) Don't call me ignorant because I have played all of the games in the franchise, surely you can see that doesn't actually make any sense. The fact that someone has seen the same evidence as you and come to a different conclusion doesn't make them ignorant - look it up at dictionary.com if you are uncertain of the word's meaning. You would be ignorant if you had not played some of the games. Also I detailed a number of reasons why I found Fallout 3 to be a profoundly disappointing experience, I can assure you that I have given this subject more than "a second thought".

Without wanting to sound elitist I think I judge Fallout3 by different criteria to you. You like the shiny graphics; I like plot, good characterisation and dialogue. You value unsubtle references and *nudge nudge wink wink* moments; I value consistency in the canon. I want difficult choices in character creation and genuine freedom of choice in the development of quests; whilst I imagine you only expect a thinly veiled illusion of choice.

Also: Level Scaling SUCKS. It makes the game so f*cking easy a brain-dead child could waltz through with a ridiculously poorly made character - that goes for Oblivion and FO3.

Ultimately its all down to personal preference.

If it needs that many to make it worth playing then surely on its own merit Oblivion isn't a very good game.

EA.
They don't stick to a game. They just move on to suckle the teet of the next cash cow...
The only reason you should buy one of their games is for modifications. Such as Forhotten Hope 2.

Im not sure how to respond to this. Though you point out facts about me that arent true, you point out facts about the game that I agree with. I enjoyed the story, and no, I dont judge games as good or bad based on "shiny graphics", Im not THAT shallow, but the leveing system in Fallout 3 I will agree with you on 150%. I thought it made the game too simplistic. Also the moral choice system, now that you bring it up, has its own problems, like in many games that attempt this aspect. KotOR is the only game that TRULEY had your "moral choices" affect the outcome. Like ive always said, I love games like Fallout 3, but Im not so ignorant as to not see that it has flaws.

This thread is full of sticky oozing bile. Not only do half the named companies in here not deserve it, but most of the reasons people are giving range from a having a few bad games (or heaven forbid -one- bad game) to shoddy PR relations or half assed testing phases.

Even EA has had plenty of moments and hits to boot whether you like the company or not. But then, that's opinion I guess, anyone can have the stupidest reasons to hate something regardless of whether or not they're justified.

So, in the spirit of the thread, my criteria for the literal worst is: Not a single good game. However, there's a problem with that line of thinking, I look up reviews and such to get a general idea of what a game is like, but, if I haven't played any games by a company how can I legitimately consider them the 'worst'?

By that logic, having never played a Popcap game, they must be my worst, but, I can't say that because I've read about their stuff and this isn't so. But at the same time, there are other companies who's games I've also never played but that I've read up on and that I do consider bad.

You have my apologies for my assumptions, I saw 'ignorant' in your post and the red mist of rage descended in front of my eyes.

Let us agree to disagree.

Never said it was a good game. :p

I'm with you with Oblivion. The worst game I ever bought(okay abit drama...). it took like..2 years till I gave it another chance with mods and it became a complete new game.

the sad part is that I have as many mods as there is game files...my Oblivion file can clock almost 15gb of space and Oblivion vanilla is 6gb if not wrong. So you know it takes a day to install every mod an tweak it to perfection.

But yeah, I have fallen from Bethesda grace status for sometime. Their writting staff is horrible, their voice actors equally as bad(Not Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean, Liam Neeson), The Elder Scrolls world is still boring, I can see how Tamriel came to live "Hey! Lets cram every fantasy cliche into one world!! Great idea!", Fallout 3 ending disapointment is only matched by Oblivion final main quest (SPOILER! Wtf I dont even get to fight the big bad guy? Wow..talk about anti-climax...) and for god sakes Bethesda...rip off valve Source engine so you can give those damn NPC some character!

And the worst part of it all...

DLC HORSE ARMOUR!!! GGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

So Bethesda! Save money on hiring famous actors to do characters that have 5 minutes of dialog, and get some new writers/voice actors.

Srsly...the guy that welcomes you to Morrowind is still working for them and is still doing bad voice acting!

that's not quite fair. EA has been going in a new direction lately that quite frankly I like a lot.

What I don't like a lot, however, is MMO developers. I also have a serious hatred for activision since they botched tony hawk, killed guitar hero, and basically fucked over every single franchise of theirs that I have ever liked.quote]

Like the Battlefield series? I was good up until BF2. Then..BF2142...BF1943... and...*shudder* Battlefield heroes.

Hear, hear.

Still got the same voice actors? Christ either thats extreme loyalty or extreme laziness.
