Hear, hear.

Still got the same voice actors? Christ either thats extreme loyalty or extreme laziness.
Yup same voice actors. Doubt? If you have Morrowind installed, get out of the starting boat the first guard that comes and talks to you is the same guy that does the voice for Bauros(The Blade guy that gives you the key to the sewers in the start of Oblivion.).

And...everyone else really...They all the same...An guess what? You can find them in Fallout 3 too.

At least in FO3 theres some with funny accents...apart from the Lucky Charms Irish guy..oh wait...Same guys again with the same boring voice acting.

I dont actually mind being the same actors..I do mind cause they dont put the soul into it. if you want to do RPG's and make players feel immersed...get some good voice acting! Go steal Bioware voice actors...or Half Life voice actors...

I think this thread will be a flame war if subjective, and would end up being a contest of the bankrupted, 1-game-only companies if objective.

Ergo, thread can't actually have a decent point to it.

I hate Atari for always trying to rush a game into releasing it by the holidays, only to bring out a bug-ridden, half finished product that gets fixed over time through patches.

Though I hate Blizzard for doing the exact opposite, they keep delays and delaying and delaying untill you can pre-order the game with your retirement fund.

Both companies do deliver good games in the end though.

I wanted to see how long it'd take before someone noticed what I'd put... I like valve they do good work, I don't really have a serious problem with any gaming designer, except maybe EA for making some truly poor sequels, but the same could be said for anyone I suppose

Bio-ware. when you get a game that the Hype is Hyped by Hype, you spent too much on making a shitty games advertizing. Mass errect is a game that you can tell from youtube is a bad game by Microsoft's low standards of the Halo trillogy
I think Mass Effect is awesome. Cant wait for the next one. Plus, they gave the world Baldur's Gate, thereby making them some of the best people ever.

Okay

Obvious hatchet job on something that's taken enough hatchets to chop down fifty redwood trees (the Halo Trilogy (one L in trilogy)) proves nothing. Especially when Halo as a series is held in high regard by BUNGIE you know the name of the company who was ACTUALLY INVOLVED IN MAKING THE GAME, not MICROSOFT WHO MERELY FUNDED IT, whether you want to acknowledge that or not.
Also Mass Errect? HAH HAH HAH, we all heard that Yahtzee joke and it's feeble now. Real mature, either grow up or at least learn to spell 'erect' properly.

By the way my most hated game development company is Team Ninja.

(actually while I got you here I have to agree there was a very heavy amount of marketing for Mass Effect which I understand you can see percieved as a bad thing.)

Microsoft as they generally don't care about their customers and for someone that has 20 billion dollars on hand I generally think they could do better as with that much cash you should at least have a quietly running system and yet not happening. Microsoft cares only about money and traded their intelegent guy with EA and now they are doing good. I find that EA is Corporate Gaming for both the good and bad. Yet at least the seem to care. Once a company doesn't need to care and stops it is time to die. Microsoft is one of those evil corporations that you from those future scifi movies where the corporation takes over and runs everything evil and wrongly. Renegade kids is a good company.

I think though there are some companies that if they make the game it adds a bonus to it as a quality assurance. As a realist first I gauge the game on its own merits but games made by THQ and developers in the catagories I like I generally find to be good. Microsoft just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They just don't care. For the good and bad.

Microsoft isn't a game company, yes they fund games but I don't know where the image comes that they hate their community (they have all kinds of help services after all) plus there is a lot of money but I don't picture them as evil corporate monsters. Just because they have lot's of money doesn't make them evil, in fact they help fund reasearch into curing diseases (true look it up). Plus they aren't directly responsible for developing games, they just hire people to do so and get contracts. Halo for example was developed by Bungie (my favourite developer) Microsoft simply had a contract with them and helped finance the game. that's it.
Just because they have money doesn't make them evil.

But while I disagree I respect your opinion and I can understand the appeal of an evil corporation.

Explain this, please. From my perspective they make good games and only good games.
I reckon you're trolling, but in case you're not:

Agreed. Day of Defeat was meh, but that's about one of the only average games Valve has made IMO

Valve spawned Steam, did it not?
Steam in itself is a pretty damn good invention. For one, the prices are lower than retail (in Australia anyway) and it automatically patches its games.

It may have stuffed up the launch of Half-Life 2, but that surely doesn't deserve it "Worst Company EVAR".

the giant, wobbly, profit-driven, sweaty, greedy mass that is E.A.

I know it's easy to hate the big guns but E.A. have single handedly reduced the quality/quantity of new games from developers that work with them and have killed off several gaming works of art including Flagship's Hellgate: London because of their ridiculous deadlines and unrealistic projections.

So instead, plebs like us get a washed out, dummed-down swill of sequel after sequel because god knows we need another Spiderman vehicle.
Thanks E.A.

microsoft still had a large influence over the halo games, while mass effect had too much hype for me to consider a fun game. Microsoft should keep to making software and let other people make the hardware and games to run on the software. mass effect's major selling point was a sex seen that doesnt even really show any sex

I would say Nintendo.
They did great stuff for video gaming in the past, that's a given. But now they are making effort after effort to make everyone and their dog play video games. I mean, it used to be niche, something not everybody understood. Now it's over.
Not to mention the Mario franchise is perhaps one game too long.

Also, Ubisoft. I'm sure they made good games in the past, but this Imagine series is really starting to annoy me.

So, first they change too much, and then they don't change enough?

Ok..., sounds like you just got tired of playing their games to me. Doesn't make them a bad developer, just makes you tired of the same old same old.

I suggest getting a beefy PC and modding the crap out of those games. (Especially Oblivion, Vanilla is unbearable after playing its modded counterpart).
I don't know man, no amount of mods can save Oblivion for me...maybe I'll forgive FO3 eventually, we will see. Just to clarify though I am firmly on the 'didn't change enough' camp.
Really no mods? No OOO mod? Not even Better Cities mod? The Lost Spires? Kvatch Rebuilt? RenGuardOverhaul? 28 Days(The most weird mod I ever played for Oblivion, Medieval zombie apocalypse goodness nom nom nom.)?The Gates of Aeesgard(or something)? Let the People Drink? Commun Oblvion?Unofficial Oblivon Patch? Babs? Choises and Consequences?Tamriel Travellers? Those combat enhancers mods which name I forgot?

Really none? :p
If it needs that many to make it worth playing then surely on its own merit Oblivion isn't a very good game.
I'd say that the ease of modding it more than makes up for its flaws, and I can't think of another developer that has created tools allowing for mods of that scale and diversity.
