This thread in my opinion bears a striking resemblance to the 'Gaming Confessions' thread.
Sim City 4 was a bit of a silly choice on my part in my purchase, the game is a lot more time-and-care intensive than the preceding versions.
(It's a bit humorous how last time I attempted to iterate this choice, I was banned for a week. Good times.)

borrowing cnc3 from a friend who bought it. What a complete waste of time, but imagine the spite my friend feels when I constantly remind him that he bought it

Buying/building a Uber Gaming PC and realizing I just made my Xbox 360 redundant. I'm prob gonna sell since every game I care about is either PC exclusive or will be coming (IE Gears 2, Mass Effect 2, Resident Evil 5).

Mine would have to be playing Alone In the Dark. I liked the movie style presentation, but the game overall sucked.

I traded my games/consoles Wayyyy too much. I have a PS3 and a 360 now, but I've owned pretty much every major console with the exception of [IMO]Sega's Shit Boxes[/IMO] and I didn't retain a single one of them.

Buying Oblivion, then Morrowind. It's a great game, but not for me.

Though, what's with the C&C3 hate? I've played the demo, and it seems like a great game. Remember, this is coming from a guy who normally hates RTSs.

Spending a lot of cash on The Sims 2 and all of it's expansion packs up to Seasons before realising that I never actually play it.

I think this is probably cos i'm really forgetful, but if i see a game in a shop that I like the look of, i suddenly forget that it has been given god-awful reviews. Let me name a couple. Blacksite, Army of Two. Nuff Said.

Actually, now i think about it, I had seen a preview of Blacksite on Gamespot and it did actually look fantastic. But no - don't buy it!

I'd have to say buying Vanguard without really reading about reviews. Popped it into the PC and it completely brought my system to a halt. Since then I've been wary about buying games requiring high end cards just to display water in a realistic way (Crysis is the perfect example).

Yea, I've been there and really, unless you need the money for food or bills, its hardly ever worth trading in stuff at most stores, there's no way I'd let go of an old console for $10 cash.

I've done similar things tho, hell, I've had a lotta hardware over the last 15 years or so, and all I have to show for it is a PS2, Xbox, and Dreamcast, and a couple of pcs. Note my first console was an atari 2600, the one carved out of wood.

Trading my nintendo 64 for what I thought was a functioning ps1. Which in the end, was not. I still miss the damn thing.

Giving away or losing my Amiga & it's 500+ game collection. I can't remember exactly what happened to it, but sometimes I have anxiety dreams about trying to find it in my loft or trying to play some classic games on it, but something doesn't work, like the TV connection or a disc drive or joystick. Then I slowly realise that it's only a dream & I don't have my Amiga anymore.

Also trading in my PS2 & 80+ games for some games + accessories for my new 360, in the foolish belief that my favourite games would be available to buy for the X-box & be backwards compatible.
