Hi Guys,

Just came across this site and I'm quite simply shocked about how anyone could expect a game with such a lame main character could sell anything.

Just Look:

http://www.hexisle.com/

I thought, nah, it can't be that bad. But then I saw the in-game footage of the guy:

Man, this character makes me soooo not wanna play this game. I mean, if the character were similar to Sonic the Hedgehog or something I'd be more than happy to play it. the levels look something straight out of Monkey Ball, which is a huge compliment, but damn this character just looks so, ARGH!

Sorry Cyan Worlds. Your Myst games were groundbreaking. But what were you THINKING!

Anyone care to share any other games with lousy main characters?

Hm, I'd have to say that blonde chick from X-Blades. I only saw the Unskippable episode but that alone made me hate her more than any other game character I can think of.

EDIT: Damn, seems I lack the "knowledge" to really talk here. The only console I have is a PSOne and apparently the worst characters are all from console games.

You mean Tinkle from Zelda? Yeah, what a closet gay.

The main character from FFXII (Vaan) contributed nothing and was useless.
Wrong. He was a catalyst for the rest of the characters.

Didnt really like "Faith" from Mirrors Edge. By all means, I loved the game, but I felt the urge to slap her every time she opened her mouth in-game (maybe a slight exaggeration there, but she was annoying, both in terms of voice acting, and dialog).

I don't see Vaan as the main character. He has almost nothing to do with anything that happens in FF XII. The main characters for me are Ashe and Baltier. Vaan is just a random kid who takes the role of the hero.

Gordon Freeman. Yes I said it. Now quote me and tell me who wrong I am.
He is not a main character, he is you.

In order to make you feel more "in the game" Valve has given him no dialogue or personality. What you get out of the game is not filtered through the characters personality, opinions, or thoughts. It is just you, and makes it a very unique experience.

Niko Bellic, I could never identify with him and for gameplay purposes he could have been a soulless robot.

Ayumi from x-blades. Horrible voice acting.

Of course, I wouldn't mind meeting her in real life to, you know, drug her and knock her up. Since all the girls in those games are easy on the eyes.

Same goes for the Doom-marine. And no-one f*cks with the Doom-marine!

I have to go with 50 Cent. It's just like... No

I see myself as the main character so Gordon is the main character.

And I really don't care about the fact that he doesn't speak. I know why but it makes no sense. When I am him I should be able to talk to the people around me but I can't do that. That is not how I would react.

No its being lazy, I much prefer dialouge between yourelf and characters, I cna understand with Oblivion and Fallout 3 but aside from games like that it just feels lazy to me.

Lara Croft, a criminal, kills tons of local wildlife, robs graves to finance mansion with butler, totally unlikable, and boobs or looks don´t make up for this.

Marcus Fenix from Gears of War 1. (I haven't played 2 yet).

AS far as I can tell the plot of gears of war 1 is that humanity invaded a foreign planet and stole all their natural resources. When we learned it was inhabited we killed all the locust. (Notice the really bad parallels here.)Marcus seems way to happy to kill anything that isn't human including civilians. None of the characters call him on it.
