Worst Main Character to a Videogame

The whole cast of FF XII. They could all have died and I wouldn't have felt a thing. Except maybe a bit of schadenfreude.

This, apart from Ashe and Balthier. I liked that she was a widow. Take THAT generic princess love story!

What would constitute a generic princess love story? Is it that a giant reptile kidnaps her all of the time and then a plumber comes and saves her??? That seems like the most used one.

I could never bring myself to like Nathan Hale, the protagonist from Resistance: Fall of Man. I think it was the fact that he had all of two lines in the whole game, and the idea that he would just recover from an infection that had killed all other sufferers (gaining regenerative powers to boot) without even questioning his recovery. Perhaps I'm missing the point, but I find any character without a shred of warmth to be deeply unlikeable.
Haven't played the sequel though, so I can't comment there, though I was rather pleased to hear that

EDIT: Actually, having watched the ending to Resistance 2 on Youtube, I'm pleasantly surprised. He spoke more in that one scene than in the entire first game!

I've never actually played the game, but until I downloaded the demo, I thought that Yuri, the protagonist in Tales of Vesperia, was a woman. I know it's not unusual for RPG males to look like females, but this one just blew me away.

It's not a kind of Japanese porn to my knowledge, but it is a name that can apparently work for both genders. One of the more Iconic/long lasting characters in Anime fandom is named Yuri (Kei and Yuri are "The Dirty Pair" a couple of spacefaring trouble consultants/detectives, and the direct inspiration for a lot of similar characters).

of games i have played, i would say original diablo's warrior (think about it, HE becomes Diablo in the second game), while of charicters i hate, The main charicters in CoD games.

while people hate Nico Bellic, i cant because he likely would be a distant realative of mine IRL

Marcus Fenix from Gears of War 1. (I haven't played 2 yet).

AS far as I can tell the plot of gears of war 1 is that humanity invaded a foreign planet and stole all their natural resources. When we learned it was inhabited we killed all the locust. (Notice the really bad parallels here.)Marcus seems way to happy to kill anything that isn't human including civilians. None of the characters call him on it.

wrong, if you read the backstory, Sera is the Gears of War universe equivalent of earth. The Locust one day just pop up and Exterminate a huge number of men. the thing about marcus is he is a far superior main charicter to pretty much any other shooter's main charicter Excluding Gorden Freeman.

Just came across this site and I'm quite simply shocked about how anyone could expect a game with such a lame main character could sell anything.

Man, this character makes me soooo not wanna play this game. I mean, if the character were similar to Sonic the Hedgehog or something I'd be more than happy to play it. the levels look something straight out of Monkey Ball, which is a huge compliment, but damn this character just looks so, ARGH!

Sorry Cyan Worlds. Your Myst games were groundbreaking. But what were you THINKING!

You could be a little more open-minded with this. It looks like it could be an actually original game. Main character looking odd aside, I wouldn't write it off based on that.

LOOK at that alien again and tell me you've seen a more off-putting videogame character evar?

Yes but I haven't played any games with him, therefore no emotional attachment.

Marth from Fire Emblem's goody two shoes nature does kinda suck and draw you out of the action when he mows down a half dozen guys, but then stops to have an impassioned speech with one particular enemy for a few minutes in the middle of a battle. Also he gets really weak towards the 20th mission (in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon) so guess I'm a bit ticked at him atm.

Also Phoenix Wright, but I blame Capcom for that by giving him terrible dialogue and making him everyone else's (the prosecutor, the judge, and occasionally a witness') *****.

I suggest going back, putting Gears 1 in, and ;letting the intro video play. It shows Sera, which is and always has been a human planet, and one day the Locust burst up out of the ground and destroy everying (also known as "E Day"). No one knows at this point why the Locust are doing it, but presumably that will be revealed in Gears 3. So humans killed the Locust in self defense.
And what else is there for him to kill but Locust and civilians? Other COGs? I'm beginning to wonder if you played the game or you're just a troll.
