Converting to 3D.

..this. I long for all those cool 2D platform-based action games, rayman series and RTStrategies (at least they were innovative, like Constructor or Majesty). This doesn't mean 3D games are worse from the core - they're just much more mass-produced and there's almost no innovations. I hate that.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

How the fuck do you make your characters ugly as sin and still have so much praise being thrown at your game? Games with such terrible design should be thrown to the bargain bin and forgotten. Also, how the fuck do you make such a bullshit leveling system? "These are your main skills, which govern this metric fuck-ton of sub-skills, which you have to level by doing. Oh, and you don't gain levels just by killing things and doing quests, you have to get your skills up before you gain a level." WHAT THE FUCK? As in the OP, the modding community stepped up (like I love them to do), but the developer shouldn't get a free fucking pass for that.
It wasn't that complicated...

My worst moment in gaming was when I got suckered in to all the hype surrounding Halo 3, only to be sorely disappointed. Since then I have never ever taken any notice of game marketing past finding out the release date.

Oh and both Mass Effects, they ended.

Far Cry 2 and the invincible dudes. I'm all for fun, but when a dude takes a barrage of lead to the face and still keeps coming for more, it's infuriating bad in a game that tries to lean towards realism.

And the end of HL2:Ep2. It's amazing but fuck you Valve for doing that.

I'll have to go with either whoever first included the "stealth" mission in a non-stealth game, or whoever first thought that including a mandatory "turret" section harder than the rest of the entire game was a good idea.

You know, those parts when you can't move and have to shoot down more things coming at you than seems possible with your inaccurate, low-sensitivity, weak gun that you have to let cool down every 5 seconds, as seen in Dead Space, Resident Evil 5, Gears of War 2, and others.
highly agree to this. it makes those games infinitely harder just because of that one stupid part, the programming for it is that broken as it came from the 90's, but mix that with putting it on hard mode..dear god. it is literal luck of the draw if you make it through those sections.

For some reason, at some point in time, upping difficulty became synonymous with every single enemy having more health and better weapons than you. The highest difficulty is meant to be a challenge, a badge of honour, not a statistical impossibility.

What is it with everyone thinking that Fallout 3's plot is-and this is a quote used on a youtube video-"crappy fan fiction"? Fallout 3's plot was FINE.
I won't presume to speak for everyone, but there is so much that is logically broken about Fallout 3's plot (within the logic of its own universe) that I cannot accept it as being "fine".

But really? I just pointed out the gaping plot-holes and idiot/convenience logic at the end of the main story. There is no excuse for that kind of terrible writing. It literally plays out like "Derp! We ran out of time and our launch date is coming up! Find some way to string these scenes together in a way that makes sense! You have 3 months, GO!"

Fight Club on the PS2
Shit game but the reason it was the worst is because I loved the film and it completely broke anything lovable about the film

When ever you had to fight a fucking Scion in Mass Effect 2.
Fucking over powered that shoot past cover.
Fuuuu....They're a *****. Also those prothean things. Jesus christ whenever I get the barrier down it forces me into cover and gets the barrier again. The only way i could truly defeat it was by nuking it at the very start with the Cain gun.

They shouldn't be in ME3 after ME2's events so there's a relief. Though I have a feeling they'll be back...

Well...my nomination is Red Alert 3 when I tried to dream up tactics for it and realised it was a "comedy game". The previous games had their funny bits but were at their core serious games.

But you know what? Gaming is awesome, even the bad bits because we can just not play them.
What do you mean? Red Alert 3 is an amazing game! Plenty of strategy to be had there.

I for one, liked Doom 3, and feel like I'm in a diminishing minority of people who do.

That being said, the entirety of Starfox Adventures was really bad, but the epitome of awfulness was the final battle.

After showing General Scales as the main antagonist throughout the entire game, you actually face off against him, only to have the game stop right before the fight, cutscene, cutscene, cutscene, ANDROSS IS THE RULER OF THE KRAZOA? Space battle. Wait... Space battle? This entire game has been an 'Adventure' game where you use Fox's abilities with the staff, and the final battle is you VS andross with andross being given supremely bullshit attacks like homing missles, and actually ramming you with his exposed brain. What do you have? Fox's 'long' list of abilities? Nope. Just a laser from the airship. No bombs even. Wow. That sucks. Fuck you forever, Star Fox Adventures. Fuck you forever.

Six Days In Fallujah getting fucked.

Also, I don't know what the fuck you guys are going on about, he said "worst moments in gaming history", not "worst moments in games". Are you guys stupid or couldn't you think of a bad thing in gaming history?

THE single worst moment in gaming history was when some asswipe in a business suit who can barely navigate Excel decided it'd be brilliant to make first person shooters big on his superfluous new console. It ruined both the genre and the worthwile consoles.
Technically speaking that is all Bungie's fault.
They made Halo:CE the only really, really good game on the Xbox launch list. If they hadn't done that the Xbox could have died quietly and we would all be playing jrpgs on the Playstation 3 now. Or Call of duty on our PCs...

Instead some exec looked at the sales figures and went 'this is a typo right? It isn't?! But it says five million copies! Quick, make more shoot 'em ups, now now now!'
Thus Bungie doomed us all, or did we doom ourselves by buying the game?

But really the worst moment in gaming history is BioShock 2.
I don't need to get more specific. BioShock 2 should not exist. If they concluded it with BioShock you would have had one of the most legendary one-shot games ever, now you've got BioShock 2 with the most ridiculously contrived plot since the Star Wars prequels and multiplayer. Fuck you 2K! I have no sympathy for a creative designer who butchers his own legacy!
Bioshock was made by Irrational. Bioshock 2 was made by 2K Marin.

They were not made by the same people.

REALLY liked Brutal Legend and it's stage battles....but I think you are right how it was not perfect.
The stage battles? Really? I couldnt stand them. I found the controls akward, and they seemed to really break the flow of the game, but I loved evrything else about the game (Best soundtrack ever!)

I really did like the stage battles...maybe it's because I was charmed by the art, but those were the best part of the game for me. And yeah, the soundtrack was great.
