The rattling breath sound of the Regenerators in Resident Evil 4. So freaky.

There's this one dark room about halfway through the Island where you can hear it without knowing where it is, but if it's your first ever playthrough, you might not know that it's on the ceiling above you.

Luckily, I wasn't stupid. I zoomed in with my heat detecting scope on my rifle, after hearing the sound, and scanned very closely for it. When I saw it, it wasn't moving. It was still a freaky sound even then, watching it pulsate.

Hell, I looked around behind me once or twice writing this post. And I'm not even alone in this room.

The looping sound error when any Valve gqme crashes on my computer... I dread it.

Oh dear. I know your pain. I didn't realise it happens to other people. Bad design? Normally I think Valve are good, but if other people have that problem... *scowl*

I'm currently replaying Red Faction and I'd have to say it's the sound of the rail gun...they either miss completely or it's an instant kill.

In Neverwinter Nights, most of the spells (except the silenced ones, of course) have an incantation and the character says something like "omidor, nabora, sesta!" when summoning or "kyou kyeu qu bee, za bee!" when using a Divination spell.

However, my pulse always goes up when I hear a monster or another player cast on me a spell with the sound:

"Ka. Cesta. Kou!" or something like that. To not knowing people - that's a Necromancy spell. I usually expect something like "5829062 Negative Damage" or "1+515221 against 20 DC = critical failure".

Yea I know how you feel, also when they throw their arms up in the air to do some huge spell, you know you're in for it. (My advice, get the time stopping spell so you can run off, it's always useful in those situations)

The sound I hate is the scream just before a horde rush in L4D

Yes, that sniper headshot sound on Gears is always painful to hear but also the sound the torque bow makes when it hits you which is followed by "oh shit!" BOOM!
