Episode 3 is the one I hate the most, since when it came out, people insisted that it was "decent", it was "good", or most heinous of all, it "redeemed the series". BULLSHIT. Fact: the prequels suck. Sure, the third one was a bit darker and had mass murder of children, but it was still a horrible, HORRIBLE movie. And not just compared to the classics, no, the third one (indeed all three prequel movies) stood on its own as shit.
Here's a short list of some complaints I have about the third movie (ignoring the obvious flaws, like terrible story, actors and everpresent CGI which makes the movie look like a cartoon):
- There were like thirty scenes where people get their hands cut off. Seriously, what the fuck? Pretty much every character gets their hands chopped off: Dooku, Grevious (all four), Windu, Vader... which is like the third time in the series for him, poor guy. This is so extreme. But actually, when I think about it, there's hand-chopped-off scenes in pretty much every Star Wars movie. In fact, I counted them last time I watched the original, there's like two or three in both New Hope and Empires, and I know there is atleast one i Jedi. Is George Lucas one of those people with amputation fantasies? I think George Lucas secretly wants to cut of his hands, and is living out his fantasy through his movies.
- R2D2 kicking ass. That's stupid. Not cool, just stupid. Really stupid.
- They fucking retconned Padmes death. This might seem nerdy, but I think it's a big deal. In Return of the Jedi, Luke asks Leia about her mother. Leia said she remembered her, she died young and was often sad. LEIA KNEW HER MOTHER. SHE DID NOT FUCKING DIE AT CHILDBIRTH. Picky? Fuck you, this is inexcusable.
Anyway, fuck the prequels and anyone who likes them. Glory to the orginal trilogy.
