What the title suggest is that we discuss what is the worst thing in a game or movie that suddenly appeared and ruined it for you.

I don't know how to do the spoiler thing atm so warning below.

Movie: The knowing
When the reason why all this stuff was written was because of space angels, who saw the earths death and just randomly gave a girl the power to see all accidents.
This seemed really silly and i was hoping for something smaller in scale, the worst type of ending is oh the world will end (only with this sort of thing)

Game: Assassins creed 2
I wanted to be Desmond more (yes i know most ppl hated that in the first), but the main thing that killed it was when it turned into the knowing, angels or gods had made this stuff and the world was going to end...... really? I really liked the first one because of the epic ending suggestion religions were all created from this orb. I would have liked it to be based around alchemy or something, anything really just not super race and world is going to end QQ.

so what are your sudden changes in games or films?
Can be game play based, story or narrative what ever you want :)

Not the most stand outing of warnings my friend, but thats ok with me (May incur mod wrath thought)

How about editing your post, and add the tags
[/spoiler*] (Remove the *)

And then everyone will be happy!

Indigo Prophecy was progressing SO WELL... but I finally snapped during the whole "fighting matrix style in mid-air" sequence. I finished it, and hold the first half of the game as an excellent example of how to do story-driven games... the second half is what story games should never do.

I guess at the end of Force Unleashed when

They somehow manage to wrangle a sequel out of it even though Starkiller dies, but comes back to life and isn't dead for the second game through some arbitrary nature.......

Can someone help me out with that logic, or have I missed something?

All I can say is, "I'm finishing this fight." *fade to black, sound of hundreds of controllers being hurled at the TV screen*

I don't really get where you would've gotten alchemy out of any of it. There is, theoretically, some chemistry going on, but most of it seemed more based in biology and psychology, being that it was related to DNA and the mind. That is, assuming you know that alchemy is an archaic term for chemistry, and you don't think it refers to people clapping their hands, drawing circles, and using bursts of light to do magic.

Also, what you posted is a bit of a massive spoiler if anyone had planned to pick up the game, but whatever.

That said, what ruined Starcraft II's campaign for me was the poor writing. I know Blizzard has never had a great team of story writers, but the whole thing was cliche and contrived. They turned Arcturus Mengsk from a deep, educated, and intelligent man with goals, albeit self-serving, into a cardboard cutout of an obvious villain.

I was building my beautiful Sim house when I finally found out what that red meter was for, and random things started to set on fire, sniff.

Movie: Avatar
The quote "The aliens went back to their dying planet." at the end of the movie was officially when I decided I hate Avatar and think that James Cameron is pretentious.

It didn't ruin it for me, but it made me sad that the stuff that the villagers build when they hate you in Doshin the Giant is without function. The cannons can't shoot, for example. Also, I would have liked to see some kind of interaction between tribes. It didn't really ruin it for me, though.

Something that DID ruin my experience of a game, literally, was when I finally got System Shock 2 again, after quite a while of searching, and it didn't work. With a patch and compatibility mode and stuff like that, I can get the game to run for 30 seconds if I'm lucky.
This made me sad.

The movie was already horrible, but it was at that moment when the movie officially died for me.

I'd say ACII also but for different reasons. The ending was horrible because it was the most generic thing they could have done. And they explained everything in such a rational way that it became really boring. That's why the Reapers in ME work, because they don't explain them and I hope to god they keep it that way (though they came rather close to ruining it in ME2).

PS I LOVED 'Knowing'. It was a bit 'meh' up until the very end and then, well, THAT happened and I was blown away, I mean, it was so random but at the same time you would never have seein it coming! I wish more movies would have such over the top, out of the bliue endings.

Movie: Hot Fuzz - When the final action scene happens. Destroyed the comedy aspect, and appeared just like a poor action movie at that point.

Game: Motorstorm - When it gets too hard. A weak gripe, but I still think that it gets far too hard near the end.
