Nobody here has mentioned (as far as I can see) that although the chinese pistol does crap damage, it ain't useless. By weight alone it's the most valuable gun in the game. Take them and sell them for more money than they could possibly be worth. Seriously in full repair they can be sold for over 150 caps I think.

The first weapon you get for Cloud in FF7, even though it has a dead-but-awsome-as-hell person and a story behind it, it is extremely useless in number 7, it also makes no sense, Zack manages to keep the bloody thing until the end of the game and kills not only the most ridiculous amount of soldiers on a hilltop, but kills arguably the best monster IN Final fantasy, then like a year or so after it takes 4 hits to kill the metal worm things in the beginning of FF7. Rant over.

The crowbar from half-life 2.

I'm up against an entire race of super-advanced hostile aliens, and this is all I get?

Ah, well. The gravity gun more than makes up for it later, though.
Crowbars are VERY lethal mind you, and I think even aliens cant handle their brains being penetrated too well..

Tranquilizers they don't kill, and why is it that I'm not aloud to kick them to death whilst they sleep, at least that would be entertaining.

Then they'd either die or have to explain some bruises and scratches to their girlfriend the following morning when they have no idea what happened. The girlfriend thus breaks up with him and he was planning on marrying her. He thus kills himself.

Either way you kill him direct or indirect.

The Ripper in Dead Space I found pretty useless. The damned necromorphs would just saunter around the ripper blade, then slap me in the face, destroying the blade and my nose.

Hunting Rifle in Left 4 Dead.
I main Hunting Rifle. It chews Special Infected up something tragic. I get a lot of Smokers ragequitting in Vs. :3
It's great for hordes, too, since the bullets travel until they hit an object - a few bullets can empty a hallway. A lot of people don't see the utility of the Hunting Rifle until they're in a team with someone who has been using it a while, but it's pretty much essential to have at least one Hunting Rifle player in Expert Campaign or against an Infected Vs. team who knows what they're doing.

Anywho...

Death in any FF game, though Doom is quite delicious.
Flamethrower in the first Red Faction, and many other games. The Flamer in Fallout 3 is a BIG exception.
Sniper Rifles in Mass Effect.
LMGs in Rainbow Six: Vegas, unless you're playing Attack and Defend and you have your bag sitting in a hallway or something.
Boltok in Gears of War multiplayer. It's great for killing Wretches in the Single Player, though.
Overlord in XGRA. You'll never hit anything with it, and it doesn't instant-kill. Made worse by the fact that one more powerup item will get you the SINN Deathstrike, which never misses and will instantly wreck AI opponents.
Are you kidding me? I use the boltok as my main weapon along with my sniper rifle and shotgun. If you're good with it, you can kill any of the smaller enemies with one shot, and it's great for finishing off larger larger locust, too, at least in horde, which is the only mode I play.

The Unarmed slot in Timesplitters 2. Ah, how many times have I gone to switch from my Sniper to my Silenced Pistol, only for nothing to come up in my hands, making me waste about another 2 seconds switching again...

I have to agree with the notion of the .32 Pistol. When I picked it up, I was like "Cool! A revolver! This means it's decently powerful, right?" Wrong. The next raider patrol I saw, I ran straight up to one of them, went into VATS at point blank range, and emptied all my action points onto him. My jaw dropped when I saw less than half damage done to him. I discarded it, got out my hunting rifle, and finished him off.

Another thing: If you play Mabinogi, don't try to kill a Golem bare fisted... while you're actually carrying magic powder.

The Fists, two words; "Very Shit!" Who would use them against a Super Mutant Bethemoth? (If the Benemoth wasn't handicapped in any way) when you can use Guns, Missles, Fat Mans, & the Exprimental MIRV!

The Needler from the Halo series. It falls into the very small category of weapons marked: "Really cool in theory; totally useless in practice".
I agree. There was something really stupid about a badass action hero carrying a tiny pink gun that shoots colorful crystals.

This. It did absolutely nothing and has no purpose anywhere in the game, beyond serving as a joke.

Which is why I said In Gears of War Multiplayer (it's fine in campaign if you can find ammo for it), and I'm specifically referring to the first game.

In my opinion, its the Gun that shoots exploding bubbles in Resistance, that gun was pish poor and i never used it after getting it.

Oh yeah and the suck cannon in Ratchet and Clank (is it me or is there a pattern emerging with a certain developer here?)
You're neglecting how many awesome weapons Insomniac has designed. I don't think anything can match the fun of using the blade weapon in Resistance Two against grays. Seeing limbs and heads flying because you pulled the trigger a few times is great enough, but charge it up and it will tear through tougher enemies.

Any pistol that has infinite ammo. For some reason, developers decide to give a people a gun with infinite ammo so they could have something to fall back on, but then made it suck ass to make the infinite ammo warranted. If you're going to give a person a secondary weapon, make it have infinite ammo if you want, but don't make it take 20 shots to kill someone.
Like the pistols in Rainbow Six Vegas 1&2..infinite pistol ammo, but playing on Realistic and headshotting a terrorist with a frickin DESERT EAGLE and he doesn't go down? Haven't they learned anything from movies with the DEAGLE in it?
Which is why I usually go with the Mark23 .45ACP or the USP40..better rapid fire accuracy so you can dump 8-10 bullets in a guys head(while seeing the bloodspray too) and then finding cover, only to get killed while you are reloading by a terrorist using a SPAS12 from 2/3rd across the map.

I've used the M1 Garand with a sniper scope is COD:W@W with good effect..of course I had on stopping power and the enemies didn't have on juggernaut.

You forgot the worst part: if you pick it up, you can't switch out of it until you fire all the ammo.

any pistol in fallout 3. why bother? just use a rifle or assault rifle. they're inaccurate, do little damage and just a waste of space.
What about the scoped magnum? It was ridiculously powerful, accurate in both FPS and VATS, and you could fire it quite a few times in VATS. Was my guy's weapon of choice, nothing was funnier than bloody-messing a Deathclaw in a single headshot.

Also, the Wooden Sword off of Kingdom Hearts. It can't hit enemies; it does hit them and not register, it just seems to always slip around them. It also stops you from using any magic that you may previously had, leaving you without a way of damaging enemies.
