Would you buy a Call of Duty game if you got to play as a Nazi?

The Nazis where just a German political party. The Wehrmact was the standard Armed Forces. So playing as a Nazi means filing a bunch of papers and enforcing propaganda, so hell no-- that would be boring. Playing as a Wehrmact solder, still no because WWII games are only fun for so long. And regardless as a Wehrmact solder, Your fate is already set out, you die. either it be in Russia or any other Eastern European country.

If they're going to provoke the anti-video game crowd, they may as well get their money's worth: you play as Nazis who stomp kittens, nuke Washington D.C., shove wheelchair-bound children off of cliffs, and don't floss.

You want to play as a Nazi to, "kick Europe's ass," not only does that seem completely wrong, the Nazi's lost the war. So a whole lot of ass kicking they did there.

I'm pretty sure if by, "stroking," your German pride by playing as a Nazi means you agree with it's ideology. This in turn makes you an anti-Semite and racist. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Nazi War Machine was used to corrupt youth, take control of Europe, and exterminate the Jews as well as other groups of people.

So either that was a really bad choice of words, or you're fucking stupid.
1. I said they lost the war?
2. (n) Nazism, Naziism, national socialism (a form of socialism featuring racism and expansionism and obedience to a strong leader)
3. I know that, and it was a huge part of Nazi Germany. Yeah the U.S. used it during war time too, but it's completely different. See an example here. As well has getting children to join the Hitler Youth and the League of German Girls.
4. No, I guess not. But what game to you actively play the loser, with 0 hope of winning?
1. Look at the bold text.
2. Too lazy to repeat myself.
3. So a charismatic leader inspiring the youth of his country is a bad thing, but only in countries we don't like right?
4. What about games who's opening is you dying? Like Brothers in Arms.
1. ...Alright.
2. You linked me to a site that says "It was a unique variety of fascism that involved biological racism and antisemitism." in the second sentence.
3. You ignored the anti-Jew example I showed you. The link I posted about the HJ and League has, in the first paragraph, a quote form Adolph Hitler and how they are basically brainwashing them. Another excerpt from the link states that,
In the classroom and in the Hitler Youth, instruction aimed to produce race-conscious, obedient, self-sacrificing Germans who would be willing to die for Fürher and Fatherland. Devotion to Adolf Hitler was a key component of Hitler Youth training. German young people celebrated his birthday (April 20)-a national holiday-for membership inductions. German adolescents swore allegiance to Hitler and pledged to serve the nation and its leader as future soldiers...German educators introduced new textbooks that taught students love for Hitler, obedience to state authority, militarism, racism, and antisemitism.
So how is this a good thing?
4. I never said anything about dying in the beginning. Does the side you're playing on win the war in the end? Yes.

But whatever, I thought what you said was wrong, and you don't see it that way. It's a difference of opinions.

You can't seriously be saying you agree with the Nazi regime?
To me there's a difference between the Holocaust and the Nazi war machine. One led to the lowered civilian population, and the other led to Germany kicking Europe's ass like I said in the original post.
Uhhh... Germany was crushed by Europe and Russia.

OP: Hell, no. I'm never waisting my money on a Call of Duty title ever again.

I'm actually surprised no one has done this (that I can recall). Nothing like yours however, that is a bit extreme.

I would play a game that had the main character as a German soldier in Nazi germany, but I think that forcing the player to participate in the holocaust is beyond the realm of good taste.

I'd say the concentration camp scenario you present is a little much, and more like attention-seeking for controversy. Unnecessary.
As for playing as the Nazis. Well, you already play them in multiplayer maps when its the whole Axis vs Allies kind of thing. Not to mention that if it were to be like how Call of Duty was before Modern Warfare, you would, again, take the place of an 'anybody soldier' not the kind of elite/supercommando of a elite/supercommando unit tasked with elite/supercommando stuff.

So if that were the case, then it would be the basic dude in the German Army not a Nazi, or someone in the SS. Just some guy fighting for a country, like the other ordinary dudes you played on the Allied side

I wouldn't buy a CoD game just because I could play as a nazi and I'd rather play as a normal german soldier rather then a full-scaled nazi.

Don't know what else to say. If the gameplay looks good and the campaign is long enough for the price, yeah I would buy it, nazis or not.
every german soldier was a full blown Nazi, every citizen of germany was a full blown Nazi, there's nothing wrong with Nazis, its the same as saying 'would you play the next call of duty as a democrat?'. it was just the political party of the time, and everyone had to go along with it, some were worse than others, but just because they were Nazis doesn't make them bad people, there were soldiers on both sides.

Well being able to play as a German soldier (Nazi-sympathetic or otherwise) certainly wouldn't deter me. I'd actually be rather interested to see how it would pan out. Much like how I'd not refuse t buy a game because you can, say, play as the Viet Cong. If the gameplay is interesting, sure, I'll do it.

But it probably wouldn't generate a huge amount of controversy. I mean, try a realistic war game (of which I know none to exist)- innocent civilians abound. Storm a building, shoot something, find out it was an innocent and not a combatant. Or execute someone in the streets for selling information to the enemy despite being an otherwise noncombatant. That kind of stuff. Somewhat more true to the nature of war. THAT would generate controversy and possibly a very interesting game.

I would buy it without a doubt i always told my friends they should do something like that. it would be a nice change of pace to play for the losing side. i like the concentration camp idea too. they could make the story to be like an old Nazi soldier telling what happened to him during WW2 like how he lost a lot of battles toward the end of the war. it would be nice but it would break the whole silent protagonist thing COD has been doing for like 9 years or so. so yeah i would buy it and its good idea if done well.

Hell yeah I would. It'd be a blast to play as Germany during their take-over of most of Europe, and even during the American/British counter-attack.

Ehhh wouldn't bug me if it was for a mission, most people forget that not all Nazis knew about what happened to jewish people, most of their army was you know ...Drafted.

I never got why CoD didn't do what Americas Army did and your team always look like marines and the other team always looks like (terrorists/whatever enemy you'd like to use). Less confusion when you switch sides.

I want to play a war game that makes me feel like absolute shit. This is not sarcasm. I want it to remind me of the hopeless and evil nature of war.

I don't care what side I'm playing. I want by the end of the game for my body to feel weak with dread over the idea of ever being put in such an inhuman situation.

That to me would be a great thing, I would love for a war game just once to make a statement that powerful. Most that I've played have made war seem like it is the coolest and most fun thing to do EVER.

Even Modern Warfare when it tried to touch on the "He's dead Jim oh noes." Still seemed to wink at you with "hehehehehehe. War! *snort*"

But I admit I haven't played every war game so I probably missed a few.

It might be fun, if the campaign was more like a work of art rather than explosion after explosion. After random betrayal.

It'd be like no Russian.
Go into a town, happy fifties foreign music playing, couple of chaps smoking cigars and then you pull out an automatic machine gun and open fire on a town and beat a Jew to death.
That would be effecting.
Surprising.
Edu-ma-cational.
Then you play Ally Zombies.

Yeah, I'd buy it.

I've been this for like 2 years now. Like, a whole game, where you play as a Nazi, and it goes all the way from the very beginning to the very end (not in order, but it ends with the battle of Berlin and starts with whatever they did to start WW2). It would be one of the few games where losing means you win. It would be AWESOME.

See, I'm sure your a nice dude, but I disagree (sorry if I sounded really pretentious there). I think the very existence of horror movies proves that people are willing to subject themselves to experiences that they shouldn't like (or shouldn't want to like), and I think letting people play as a Nazi directly involved in the holocaust genocide would definitely be a mind bending experience. Even if it was just in a cutscene, like a just a simple quicktime event, or a little title would pop up that says "Press B to activate Gas Chamber". And people would either do it willing, or stop playing right there, and either reaction means the person was effected by it, and that is good. I think forcing people to understand that for some people their jobs consisted of killing the innocent would be a very horrifying but in the end beneficial experience. And I think making people realize that they could just as easily do said horrible thing would be an even more valuable lesson.
