Would you cut off a limb to save a stranger?

Pretty basic question, right in the title. Just in time for Halloween, a gruesome hypothetical.

Most people would probably cut off one of their limbs to save themselves, if they were put in to a Saw like situation

But say some weirdo has another person at gunpoint or knifepoint or vat of shark filled acid point, and he asks you to cut off one of your limbs to save that person. The person is a complete stranger to you, but if you don't cut off one of your limbs they die.

Would you do it.

How would I know that the villainous individual orchestrating the whole thing won't just laugh after I sever said limb and kill us both anyway?

If I were somehow guaranteed that my cutting the limb would save the other person... sure. I mean, it's just one of my limbs versus the other person's life.

Do I get to pick which limb? Man, what a tough choice. I guess I would go with.... my right arm (I'm left-handed).

True, you can't do that. The bad guy is behind some sort of bullet proof glass or something, you can't just kill him.

And he will let you and the other guy go if you cut off your limb, and he'll let just you go if you choose to not cut off your limb, with the knowledge that you played some part in a person's death.
