Would you/do you play a war game where your country is 'the bad guys'?

Killing Canadians as a Canadian? Wow, that would be boring, me with a gun shooting guys in Canadian military uniforms running around trying to stab me with plastic knives.

America can never be the bad guys. So your point is mute.

Your move Escapist, tread softly
I think you mean his point is moot, and furthermore U.S.A. has already kinda been the bad guy. In Modern Wafare 2 a section of their military flat out betrays the SAS, and one of their generals goes bat shit crazy and tries to go on a Russian genocide tour.

Also your eagle does not scare me =D, my cat used to kill those things and drag them to our front doorstep, it's scary (yes we have eagles in Canada).

I think I can honestly say that I'm more than happy to kill brits in games. Hell, I always choose Germany over the UK in R.U.S.E, and most of the time, I murder them all. Yay. But seeing the British as the evil guys could be kind of confusing.. We're so harmless and friendly with our scones and earl greys...

I kind of find it funny that there are very few places in the US that actually are home to the Eagle. We should have just done a bear. Imagine...

You know, I think I could.

Firstly, all the soldiers I've killed in-game - Russian, German, Chinese, Korean, American - all start to blend together after a while. They're just grunts in uniform.

Secondly, I come from Australia. The idea of an Australia so large and powerful that it's the major bad guy in a war is kind of awesome.

It goes without saying it'd have to be a good game, like Modern Warfare. I wouldn't play something purely so that I'd get to shoot my countrymen.

Frankly, I think it's past due someone made a game like that. As in, a major title.
It would be quite interesting to see Australia as the bad guy. I too am from Australia, and I had never stopped to think what we would be like as a major threat in a game.

Is it possible to attach a bayonet to a boomerang?

What about spiked chain leashes for guard koalas?

Will all your soldiers carry giant hunting knives?

Think I'm done.

It would be interesting fighting Aussie troops fighting with their kamakazi kangaroo's packed with explosive pouchies and ambushing drop bears.... *ahem* all jokes aside, it would be interesting... Australia invades New Zealand in retaliation for the Kiwi's invading the Gold Coast?

But hey, thats sorta happening... without the violence, just Sheep Jokes and general holiday visits

1. I'm thinking you need to see the Mad Max movie series. Particularly the 2nd one, where a kid has a bladed boomerang.

2. No, the guard koalas will be kept controlled by our frill-necked lizard guards.

Don't be silly, Australian soldiers would never carry that around!
It's far too small. I have one of those in the shed. No, they'll be much bigger.

You know what, a game set during the time of the swedish empire with you playing the role of a rebel from Pommern or something could be quite interesting. Or maybe just set during one of the uprisings.

On the other hand, a futuristic Nordic Union lead by a council with members from the countries would be awesome. I can see it now; a boring, dull, orderly swede; a loud, drinking, smoking, belching dane; a knife-wielding, psychotic finn, and a friendly, happy norwegian.

The evil!

Well, in MW2, as far as the Russians knew, the US had just decided to saunter into an airport and gun down hundreds of innocent Russian citizens. This was not the case, but they simply had no information to say otherwise. In the eyes of the Russian Federation in MW2, the US were "the bad guys". And, technically, since it was a deep-cover operation the general public and the US army wouldn't know that the airport massacre wasn't just a random act of slaughter by America, so technically most people would have thought that the Russians had a real good reason to go to war, therefore ruling them out as the bad guys.

Anyway, it'd probably be hard to make Scotland look like the bad guys for the simple reason that everything military-wise we do is usually as part of the United Kingdom. But,yeah, I'd play a game if either Scotland or Britain was the bad guy.

Im British, almost every person in every genre of Media who has a British accent turns out to be a villian.

I dont mind, using that and Nazi's/Communists just shows creative bankrupcy and makes me laugh.

If you're playing any of the current crop of war games, then you are playing as the bad guys.

I would be kinda awkward about killing fellow brits in a game (I personally love MW's approach of making the SAS anti-hero types with quiet patriotism as opposed to the Yankistani 'WOO YEAH GO AMERICA DAKKA DAKKA GET SUM'). But at the same time, a game as a liberation force against the British Empire of yore would be FREAKING AWESOME.

So it'd be kinda weird, but hell yes I'd play that.

Technically, I'm Canadian. When was the last time Canadians played a large part in any popular game?

But, were I american, I'd have to point out Command and Conquer: Red Alert and Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 - Yuri's Revenge.

If you play the Russians, then the Allies -are- considered the 'bad guys' - so I'd have to say yes.

Actually, even as a Canadian I say yes, given that we'd be with the allies if we were on any side, and the Russians were more fun to play.
