I would. It would be interesting.

Who would make Canadians the bad guys?

I'm not sure how you can portray the British as villains in any war.
Weren't they technically villains in V for Vendetta?

I know, not a game but I think it still applies slightly.

I'm surprised this wasn't bought up sooner but aren't the Enclave in Fallout 2 and 3 an example of a corrupt American government? Just thought I'd point that out

However being British means that I've kinda expected our nation to gain a stereotype as a nefarious villain. Plus in the ROD Tv series, the British Library forces have a turn around in comparison to the OVA 3 episode saga.

But when I play titles like Company of Heroes and such, I'll always prefer to play as the British. I can't really see myself playing against them in other war titles anytime soon

I live in Sweden, one of the only two countries in Europe who ALWAYS proclaim themselves as neutral/pussies during wars.
And Sweden whould make quite a bad enemy since (at least what i've heard) we are quite a likeable people.
Also you can't sound angry or "evil" while talking swedish. (-Vi ska ta över världen hihihihi!!)

So, no.

I'm Russian, so what the hell do you think?
So bad company 2 for instance in multiplayer lets you have a go for both sides, so I'm cool.
But hey, I grew up on 80-s movies so by now I have an immunity. Which means whenever I play a game I think, "Oh, Americans, you poor fools, when will you learn? And now to the game."

America can never be the bad guys. So your point is mute.

Your move Escapist, tread softly
I always think of Americans as the bad guys. :)

I wouldn't play a game where my own country men are the bad guys. And that being said I can't think of a single game where my own country men are even involved. Just for once I'd like to see developers take a risk and use a different nations forces. It's ALWAYS America. ALWAYS. = Boring.

EDIT:

Sony (being Japanese) should totally make a WW2 shooter from the Japanese perspective. I would totally play it and enjoy every minute of shooting some Yanks for a change. The reason being is that I just know that someone will complain... and as soon as that happens I will yell so loud that God and Satan can hear me "HYPOCRITE! FUCKING HYPOCRITE!"

I'm Norwegian so, in a historical setting, I guess I could; though I would much rather want to play as the vikings than against them.

I don't think I would have any problems with it in a modern setting either, I just can't imagine how they would make a plot in which the bad-guys are a peaceful country with 4.5 million inhabitants. Unless they had a setting where our viking-blood had reawakened and we were all back to raping and pillaging and reigning terror throughout continental Europe. I should totally write this down Oh, right, I already did.

Surely everyone from the US who played MW2 has done?

I mean the Americans were the villians it that game, you fight American forces in the last two levels. The Big Bad is a US general for crying out loud.
