Yes, Canada would make a sick location to fight in. As stated before, as long as it's not just the entire country's evil (though maybe in a Canadian Bacon kind of way.)

Also, eh's would need to be more common than I's and enemy soldiers would have to loudly talk about last night's hockey game using lots of aboot's.
Us Canadians don't replace I with eh, it comes at the end of an occasional sentence, mostly in a question format, and we don't talk as loud as our southern neighbours (all though we are getting louder) and we don't pronounce it "aboot"

but yes a war game in Canada would be awesome, there would be a plentiful mix of terrain with awesome scenery and it would be nice playing a game where i would actually recognize most of the landmarks.

Once upon a time I could have, but having served in my countries Defense Force I don't think I could. I'd be thinking of my mates way too much, and that would be weird.

Also you can't sound angry or "evil" while talking swedish. (-Vi ska ta över världen hihihihi!!)
<spoiler=Hey, using that logic we can accurately determine a country's eligibility as bad-guys with this video only><youtube=KO9kEPtz9E8>

I'm Norwegian, so I guess I could; though I would much rather want to play as the vikings than against them.

I don't think I would have any problems with it in a modern setting either, I just can't imagine how they would make a plot in which the bad-guys are a peaceful country with 4.5 million inhabitants. Unless they had a setting where our viking-blood had reawakened and we were all back to raping and pillaging and reigning terror throughout continental Europe. I should totally write this down Oh, right, I already did.
That would be quite EPICZORZ! I loved Medieval 1 with the viking expansion!

Well, I'm Polish, so according to history we've always been the good guys. Never attack someone already weak, make friends with everyone you can (except for Russians and French). Oh, and later Germans.

Heck, even in video games one of the first named FPS hero was of Polish descent. Wolfenstein, anyone?

I think I could, but I highly doubt I'l ever have the chance. Norway isn't really villain-material.

Well I would actually like to see a game where the Dutch are evil and try to take over the world. Would be one hell of an awesome story!

Am I the only one who thought the hebrew one and the polish one was the scariest?

OT: Oh, yes, I invade my country at every possibility I get in All of the paradox games!

As I'm sure has been the case with at least one other poster, I'm a Canadian, so the chance of my country being the bad guy in any game is pretty slim. With that said, it probably wouldn't matter to me, and I'd judge the game based on mechanics, story, and all that.

Yeah, Australia would be awesome to vs. We wouldn't have the manpower though so after like the 3rd mission you would have taken out the whole threat. So it would be a small game.

Interesting question. I'm a German... take a wild guess as to the answer.

Ve are ze Germans. Ve're allways ze bad guys.
Ze worlt doesn't leik the Germans too mutch :(

OT: As a German, I did this many, many times. And thanks to this, I'm a bit blunt to the cliché of the Kraut.
I had probably my hardest time when I was playing Call of Duty: World at War with this.
I can still play those games, but most of the time I'm looking for the mulitplayer, where I can play as my "own" faction.

To be honest, I really enjoy playing as soldiers of Wehrmacht, Panzerelite and Waffen-SS in games like Red Orchestra, Day of Defeat: Source and Company of Heroes.

This way I avoid not only shooting my own ancestors, finally I can get my hands on the badass weaponry:
MG-42, Stg 44, V1-Rocket, Tiger-Panzer, MP 40, Walther P38, Flak 8.8 and so on...

PS. Watching Tarantino's "Inglorious Basterds" was very much fun for me, though. It was much more reflecting than the usual WW2-movie/game.

Yeah, I was actually a bit scared when my country's voice came along. Russian one was also awesome, but Hebrew was like... Satan's foul words while on the toilet.

Surely everyone from the US who played MW2 has done?

I mean the Americans were the villians it that game, you fight American forces in the last two levels. The Big Bad is a US general for crying out loud.
so someone else noticed that too?

I think that as having german ancestry, I have usually been the "bad guys"... but being Canadian... we could pull off being the bad guys, now we only need to have a plot that involves us not actually invading anyone yet still being seen as the bad guys.

MW2 wasn't anti-Russian in the slightest...

Did you even follow the plot?

A group of people wanted a war between the USA and Russia. So they pretend to be from the USA and performed a terrorist attack. The only reason this got a war started was because they left behind a USA agent. Though I wouldn't declare a war over that, but apparently that was why.

If people pretending to be Russian wiped out an USAmerican airport, you can believe the people would clamour for blood.

Anyway, I wouldn't care if the UK was the enemy.

I just thought of a game.

You play as a foot soldier/something like that for Rome.

And you have to fight along all the frontiers.

Scotland (or rather the tribes that lived there), would certainly be a part of it.

Or in Alternate History we could have a British Empire vs world scenario. Or facist Britain.

Anyway, no. Not bothered at all.

Isn't there like some interventionist American-backed enemy force in Far Cry II?

Haven't played it, I have no idea.

In response to the OP, sure, why not. If it was done well, I'd happily play as a member of the Wehrmacht in a WWII game. Cultural context has a VERY small bearing on my ability to enjoy a game that is well-designed and written.
